  1. Alan Wake - still a fantastic game to immerse yourself in after dark. The new character models, animations and textures make this feel more like definitive completed version than a remaster.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania - still a timeless videogame ass videogame, improved and refined to play better than ever now. Only complaint: why isn't there online multiplayer?

Kena:BoS - I heard how short this is and thought corrupted taro was the final boss lol.  Glad there's still so much left, it's been a breath of fresh air so far.  ^_^

  2. This is such a fun throwback to the early days of the 360 back when the heavy hitters of that gen first started rolling out (Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears, etc). I don't think I've gotten to replay it until now.  In retrospect it feels like Remedy's answer to Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2 and Stephen King inspiration nonwithstanding.

  3. On first viewing I'm not sure how to feel about it.  Definitely some fun moments with how he's provoking the mostly white culty queermo "leftists" going around these days, but he's also one of the most influential and successful public figures right now. How much risk of an impact that empowers social prejudices and legislation against lgbtqa and possibly straight religious-oriented black communities will content like that have?  How much of it is intentional rorchashe and how much is a genuine unironic expression of some mike tyson energy in retaliation to what some obviously irrelevant rabid militant weebs think about some of his takes? In addition to their behavior, what else might be fueling his frustration in those moments?

Not sure if i'm emotionally sensitive or good at remembering enough to know for sure tbh but anywho as tempting as it might be to gear up for some righteous cancelation protest over this, for some reason i can't care enough to do so and am more interested in seeing how it all plays out over the next several years

    1. Essentially my entire line of discourse with him was exactly about that point, so I am well aware :p

    2. The assumption that he is arguing in bad faith as opposed to just being wrong is not an assumption I hold. The crux of his position was his individual risk, and most of the engagement of the board was about rebuffing that point…which they would be wrong about.

Even my dear @SuperSpreaderjust now errantly suggested that @Commodore Dis at some high risk of dying from Covid when data would strongly point toward him having a very low risk of such an outcome.

I mean he also kept denying he was a danger to anyone by being anti-vaxx (and even denied he was anti-vaxx at one point lol), though he argued from an individual risk standpoint as well, sure... in addition to evading the evidence, bringing up stuff like obesity rates, "the numbers", claiming shots might not work, etc in an effort to continuously push things off the rails and make everything as debatey as possible.

The reason I'm hesitant to say he's only delusional and not bad faith is he seemed strategic in a lot of those arguments when you go back and review them. It got to a point where any time someone responded to him or asked him to explain, he had a retort ready to keep it going forever.

I'm not a world class troll fighter yet or qualified to diagnose someone, but the whole ordeal definitely strengthened my view that effectiveness in dealing with haters is important and can be more difficult than we expect. It's a skill that could always use refinement imo, and those nine or so pages ITT is one of countless increasingly occuring examples that proves it.

The problem is he isn’t really wrong about what decision makes sense for him given risk factors. The end result of his infection was 3 crummy days, which is a reasonable expectation given his individual risk profile.

But communicable disease management is about more than individual risk management, and the danger he presented to his community when he was pre-symptomatic either don’t concern him or he doesn’t understand it. Neither are particularly great.

Yeah he kept saying there was no benefit for the greater good in getting vaxxed lol. I'm not sure why everyone was engaging Commodore on his own terms and missing opportunities to zero in on his bad faith questions and disabuse them of ignorance sooner (someone would link stats, he would then selectively ignore stuff in those links and follow up with bad faith questions to derail, several users would take the bait instead of tightening the vice grip to force him to only engage the data, etc).

Is it ever practical to assume someone so deeply entrenched in batshit logic can be reasoned with instead of being immediately debunked and exposed asap?

It might be worth talking it out w/ them if you have a formal education in psychology, but beyond that I feel like maximum effectiveness in this strategy is optimal, if only to prevent them from taking up so much time. As the previous nine pages of this thread show, even obvious trolls can be good at derailing shit far more than what needs to occur.

Everyone hits and misses at this of course - even streamers who use their words to fight bad ideas for a living - but at the end of the day it's a skillset that’ll be increasingly necessary in our lifetimes as long as cult mentality continues to spread.

From a data perspective its the survivability rate; its just not something that is an issue for the vast majority of the population, especially the buckets with which I am in, so it doesn't drive a cause for action.

You know what, I'll agree that, because I'm generally healthy, fit, with no underlining conditions, I can "selfishly" wait and see as more information comes. Lord willing, I can live with that.

Have to make this clear; I'm not against it for people that are at risk (not an anit-vaxxer | masker), I'm just not keen on it for me at the moment (based on the current information available).

My bad I deleted that question after noticing you already answered it in some earlier posts.  Based on what I'm able to decipher from your replies I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree on pretty much everything, though for what is worth you seem like a very interesting person!

You quantified your reasoning to not get vaccinated earlier by saying the science and math align with your opinion, and you don't see how getting vaccinated would benefit the greater good.

This data (a five second google search away) proves that your claim is false, even as far as the delta variant is concerned (and yes, 66% effectiveness is still a dramatic improvement over no vaccination at all) .

Here is what we know about how well the major Covid-19 vaccines perform against the Delta variant, both in terms of preventing infection and preventing serious illness.

You now have no excuse to be willfully ignorant. If you still choose to not get vaccinated, you're objectively doing so out of a personal truth with a flawed and demonstrably harmful premise that's putting yourself and people around you in jeopardy and contributing to Covid mutating and being harder to deal with.  Believe what you want, but almost all the points you've made in this thread are operating from feels over reals reasoning, and that's why your takes here are getting pushback. ^_^

Pretty sure he was barred from the industry? I have no smoking gun as to why, but he was one of the devs who didn't take a stand against gamergate at the time (though to be fair he seemed to have a change of heart soon after). Since then he's become increasingly unhinged with more than a few questionable but sometimes entertaining rants on social media.

  9. Someone who claims to be an advocate but never had anything worthwhile to say about asexual people (assuming we even exist to her), voted for Trump policies and against pandemic aid is winning over haters?  :o

I’m curious, and I mean no offense in trying to downplay anything, but how so is there a don't ask don’t tell policy here? Do you mean just a feeling that if you talk about LGBTQA then too many people here will judge you?

I thought we were more “share what ever you are comfortable with about yourself and anyone who harasses you about it will be dealt with and removed from the conversation” here? Any ideas how @Commissar SFLUFANand users could make you feel more comfortable?

I mean it IS kinda funny that my don’t ask don’t tell dig got the reaction it did. I was just goofing, genuinely can't remember much homophobia, acephobia, here other than nobody ever talking about anything LGBTQA. I've seen comments sometimes that were kinda weird, nothing recent as far as I know, and I'd guess I'm as guilty of saying occasional cringe as most.

Also I'm gonna take the L on my initial reply in this thread and say that post was a cringe way of expressing what I was trying to say/bad at communicating that systematic prejudice and invalidation towards bi and ace folks as far as I know isn’t as bad as it is w/ other forms of bigotry, It just never really gets talked about, but also I’m not the most knowlegeable source for it.

As far as I'm aware there really isn't an LGBTAQ/gender "don't ask/don't tell" policy on this board.  It's not that the discussion is actively discouraged - it's just that we really don't have that many individuals who identify as such.  As a result, it's not a topic that comes up very much at all.  For the most part, I'd like to think that we're relatively welcoming on that front -- lousy posts like that of @Eggman76 aside and consider this to be a warning to at least do some research into topics of this nature before posting -- but I could be wrong simply because it's simply not something that I pay attention to.

We can certainly be more vigilant in policing for posts of that nature in topics where it's being discussed.

No worries,  apologies for the misunderstanding. Will continue keeping all LGBTQA expression in check while here

  12. In addition to being Bi, Pan etc I'm on the ace spectrum, mainly because of the low sex drive and I'm not even sure if I'd be good at it if it got to that point.  I know there's kind of a don't ask don't tell policy with discussing LGBTQA issues and gender on this board so I go to some twitch streams (no, not Destiny's or Vash's) if I want to talk more in-depth about that online, but I think it's important to note that shitty attitudes like Eggman's - prejudices, negative associations, invalidation, etc -  and some other users on this board are very commonplace in the world and even though I don't let it define me, the frequency of those attitudes and how they systemically impact your daily life can be tiring sometimes.
