Xbox Series S/X Preorder Mega Thread (Worldwide Preorder Details in OP) - Starts Sep 22nd | ResetEra
WWW.RESETERA.COMThose that are heading out to stores to pre order what time are you gonna be there before opening? My local Game at White City Westfield (UK) opens at...
If someone breaks street date early like the PS5, links were posted in the PS5 thread pretty quickly. Here is the Xbox threadThanks. Wario64 on twitter is a pretty good source too.
I have made sure on Amazon, Microsoft, Best Buy, and Newegg that I have up to date CC and address and that I'm signed in ready to go.

I recommend keeping the resetera preorder page open. It is how I got the Amazon and Target preorders in before the preorder date.
Can you tell me more about this? Link?

Is it too early to start refreshing pages?

I wonder if those 2 id Software guys that were saying Xbox Series S would hold back next gen still have jobs?
They deleted their tweets days ago. I'm sure someone had a talk with them.

One really cool thing about this - I had waited on Doom Eternal. My plan was to purchase it on the day I got my XSX to play with the enhancements. Gears 5 and Eternal were going to be my two games to really enjoy the new system with. Well I guess I just saved $60.

They have around double that on-hand and would easily make it back tenfold.
But it's already been shot down.
This is actual news that actually happened today. Save the Sony rumors for another thread.

Just reading that list is pretty damn impressive. Not something I expected this morning.

I can totally see MS do that since they have done it with Minecraft. It's definitely smart business. But Bethesda games being on Game Pass will have even some PS owners with PC's subscribe.
Starfield specifically. This has been in progress for years already, and probably won't come out until 22. I think they will want to get all possible revenue. The best place to play it will of course be PC. But again... gamepass.
-
The more I think about this, I kind of don't expect MS to make the huge games exclusives. They are going to want those Sony sales. The decision is going to be - get the games included with gamepass or buy them for $70 for PS5.

I never said anything about MS being on top... I just said Sony doesn't have the resources to just make an acquisition like this. They have a WHOLE corporation that is not just gaming and those other areas were not doing to0 well in recent years. I don't even know if Sony even NEEDS to make acquisitions like this... they're still the market leader and their first party output is very strong. It may not even be WORTH it for them to spend billions of dollars acquiring a third party studio. Who would even be worth it that would be reasonably within their reach? Square Enix?
For me there isn't another studio that is on this level. I didn't even think Bethesda was in play. Others may prefer Square.

Would be hilarious if MS bought Square too, just to fuck with Sony further.
The funny thing is that now MS is going to be providing SONY with two timed exclusives during the launch window of the new consoles. Weird situation.

Is Just Cause one of their franchises?
Don't think so...

So the next doom, next fallout, maybe star-field console exclusive to Xbox.
-
Wow. This is huge. I had heard some scattered talk that there was going to be a big announcement today but I didn't really believe it.
-
It is funny to see the mental gymnastics of people who say they won't give her a dime... But they really want this game so let's figure out how it's okay.

It's impressive in what they got out of current consoles. Still very interested in what they're going to push on the PC.
Well I guess it isn't that impressive...
Review: ‘Crysis Remastered’ Seems Utterly Broken On Xbox One X Right Now
WWW.FORBES.COMThe 13-year-old “can it run Crysis?” meme is coming back to haunt the series–because it sure seems like the Xbox One X can’t. -

Minecraft added RTX for free and was even going to release the "Super Duper Graphics Pack" for free.
Neither of those things have actually happened yet. It is still in beta on pc... And crickets when it comes to minecraft on the XSX since about February.

So are multi platform games going to be $70 for ps5 and $60 for XSX?

I've just always been concerned with (any) console after PS2 launch units had something like a 70% defect rate (granted, a large amount of these "defective" units were stupid things like being unable to read PS1 memory cards).
And the MS RROD fiasco. New consoles are always risky. For some reason I do feel better about the Series X than the PS5 in that regard... but who really knows.

Yeah I mean, profit wise I’m not sure. EA solely makes roster updates. Those other companies produce hardware and make new games
I'm going to stop you right there. Madden 21 is not a roster update so please stop saying it is. It is by far a worse playing more buggy game than madden 20. A roster update would have been preferred.

If Sony were smart, they'd start pushing hard for their own version of Xbox Game Pass, and start day and date releasing all their games on PS5 and PC at the same time. They already beat Microsoft in the "closed hardware OS console for your TV" space, now it's time to beat them on PC instead of getting complacent. Those who want a PS5 are gonna buy one regardless of the fact that everything will also be on PC. They should release their full back catalog of all games on Steam/PS Now, etc., and go from there.
I think that is the direction things are going. I'm not sure it is as easy as throwing a switch. MS has been working on the back end of Game Pass and Xcloud for a couple years now and things are just starting to come out of Beta now. Also if Sony started putting its catalog out on the same date for PC it would seriously piss off their fan base. There are a lot of loyal Sony fans that take a lot of pride in the fact of all the exclusive hits they have sole access to.

I think it makes sense to disallow generic game drives as it’s likely that read speeds are going to be terribly important to maintaining performance. Would be a great way to get a lot of complaints about performance because people are using poor performing SSDs.
They should make it easy to swap games between the internal drive and an external storage drive. Maybe make it such that you can start playing before the game is completely copied like some games can start before they finish downloading.
And what would be even a step better... is have some AI involved and do it automatically so you don't have to think about it. Have it slide stuff off that is less played, and have ready games that you play a lot or just recently downloaded. If you go to play a game that is stored on your 'slow' drive it would just have to do some rearranging before you can play. Of course this would just need to be like and easy button option. Still give the hard core people the ability to completely control it themselves.
