    Well when did MySpace exsist.

I get it we all hated Jar Jar and how racist a charactor he was. However the charactor was cg the whole time in the movie and his live action performances where painted out. I'm glad he didn't kill himself many other actors have killed themselves over as much or less. An example of one is Jonathan Brandis in 2003.

Social media was not then what it is now.  There may have been something in some form out there - but it wasn't the same as today.

I think everyone is glad the dude didn't kill himself.  No one wants anyone to commit suicide.

  2. Phantom Menace released in 99.  Facebook launched in 2004.  Social media as we know it now did not exist so you can't blame this guys torture on social media.

I think the first part of this conversation - We all here agree that anyone who makes death threats or anything of the kind is a bad person.

That being said, I think most of us would also agree that Jar Jar is a historically bad film character and anyone involved deserved the bad reviews and bad press that naturally comes with the job of actors.   This is where I would agree with Xbob in part.  If you create something and put it out for consumption - you need to expect feedback.  Some will love it and some will hate it.  Your life can be changed for good or bad by either fans or haters.  If you aren't ready for fame then you should avoid Star Wars.

Yes. It was releasing on other platforms already. Plus, it’s target demographic is completely different to Xbox’s.

All of the the decisions are motivated by money.

MS/Nintendo are trying to mitigate their smaller user bases.  Sony is trying to take advantage of its much larger user base.

    exactly

Most for profit companies make most of their decisions based on money.  However they don't have to be jerks with anti consumer policies.  Most Xbox/Nintendo fans can at least recognize when the company they are a fan of does something dumb.  It is a little surprising that you are the lone voice that I have seen anywhere that is standing up for Sony on this policy.  It is bad for everyone involved and the gaming community would all be better if Sony would simply change the policy.  Sony would still be the big dog - they don't somehow lose their market share if they allow people to play together, or keep their progression.

  4. The reason for the diminished interest in Halo is because the past few main games in the series have been mediocre.  If (big if) the next game is awesome then everyone would come back.  The story behind Halo is still well suited for a TV series as long as they leave out the crap from the most recent games.  It will need a budget to pull off the effects tho.  If this was on HBO I would be more excited.

Youre not understanding me. I don't mean that games I buy today won't be playable in the future. I mean that in the future every couple years Microsoft will release a new "xbox" and then some games will only work on that system but not the previous ones. They'll drop the numeral naming system and just have a simple platform, where you are constantly rolling through updates and then left behind every three or four years in shortened cycles, or given less features and graphics. Think of it like a cell phone, not a console at that point.

Where as Sony intends to keep making PS4, then the PS5, then PS6, like a traditional console plan. Does that make sense? Microsoft has never said that the Xbox One X will never play games that the Xbox One can't, only that the X will always be able to play Xbox One games. So there could conceivably be a time when games launch for Xbox One X (and the newer system) only, leaving the XBox One behind. This would start a series rolling updates closer to a phone or a PC. And that's not a hamster wheel I want on. Get my drift?

Like @Xbob42 said I'm not sure where you are getting this.

However I think that for both Sony and MS (who knows with Nintendo) there will only be one more generation anyway.  Sony, EA, and MS have all already talked about streaming services being the future.  After the next generation in like a decade from now there will just be some low power computer connected to or integrated into your screen that you will play games streamed from the internet.  It is already possible now, and in a decade it will work well.

I think with the launch of the next system MS is going to try the stepped upgrade approach, and until I see otherwise no way I buy in to their ecosystem. All I have ever seen them promise is full backwards compatibility, not that they won't start cutting off games every couple year in the near future. I have no interest in a rolling upgrades system where my console is only playing the best games for a couple years before another one comes out, and is then obsolete or starts not being able to play some games after 3 or 4 years.

I don't love the PS4 Pro existing either, but there is feature parity beyond the visuals so that's more forgivable. Sony has committed to console generations. MS doesn't seem to have the same plan. If everything starts feeling like the PC where i have to check the compatibility of a game to see if it runs on what I already own I'm probably out for good.

Wow.  Where are you getting any of this.  MS has been far better than Sony with backwards compatibility.  Every XB1 plays every XB1 game.  No one needs the X unless you want upgraded visuals.  Any FUD's you have are in your head.  There has been no evidence MS is pushing anything like what you are suggesting.  Hell all the first party games you buy - you automatically can play them on your PC as well.  Cross play enabled for PC and now even Switch.  I don't get your post at all.

@number305 Also I can understand not liking anything after '89 since the '90s were a dark time for metal. Due in no small part to your avatar! :P It will never again be as big as it was in those days. But it is more diverse than ever and modern metal is the best the genre's ever been IMO. There's something that can scratch every itch.

Yeah I also like Nirvana and the Foo Fighers.  They took over for me in the 90's.  But 70's and 80's Metal has always been in my heavy rotation.  Going to see Slayer in Denver in August on their farewell tour.  Pretty great lineup for that show so I'm pretty excited.

:duckhuntdog: Well I specifically mentioned the elements they take from those bands. Neither of which were lyrics.

Sorry if I was too harsh.  I'm an ass with music.  I'm glad people still make metal, but I have a hard time listening to anything newer than about '89.  My bands are all getting too old.

    Khemmis - Desolation - 8/10

    Khemmis_Desolation-300x300.jpg

Khemmis' "doomed heavy metal", a catchy combination of Iron Maiden's melody and Black Sabbath's crawling tempo, continues on their third full length album Desolation. It has all the elements of their freshman and sophomore efforts: soaring vocal melodies and harmonies, a thrasher, a few growls here and there, and a long closing track that brings it all together. And like their previous two albums that last track is my favorite. But, this one is a bit odd for me in that it feels like their songwriting game has stepped up, yet there's something lacking that I can't quite put my finger on. Their previous album (Hunted) did quite a bit more for me than this effort. It took the number 2 spot on my top albums of 2016 while I have a feeling this one will have a rough time cracking the top 10 this year. Don't get me wrong. Desolation is great. But I feel like there aren't any moments on this album that are as epic as the last 3 minutes of "Hunted". I don't feel like any of the melodies take you to that fantastical world of warriors and wizards like "Candlelight". But, there are some absolutely golden moments on Desolation. Take "The Seer", that turns from a relatively haunting and growly dirge into pure melodic bliss that will tug at your heartstrings about halfway through. The lead guitar work is also quite a bit better on this album than any of their other efforts. The guitar solo on "Isolation" fucking rips. And, as previously mentioned, the closer is epic.

The beginning lyrics to that song man...

    So here I rest
    I've come undone
    Somewhere behind these eyes
    Rising from the thorns
    Beyond the endless nightmares
    There's still a soul
I'm reaching out to catch a breath
    To brave the storm

Sorry but that seems like something a heavy metal lyric generator would spit out.  To compare this in any way to Maiden or Sabbath seems like a reach.

I've loved every one of them.  They end up being my GOTY every time they're released.  (I know there aren't a lot of racing game fans on this forum, so I am largely alone in that.)

I have never really gotten into racing games... but this series gets so much love I have decided to get game pass when this comes out in the fall.  So I will be trying Forza.

Other games I'm def getting this fall:

AC: Sparta... or whatever its called

    RDR2

Really looks like my wallet will be killed next Jan/Feb/March.

  11. The two announced teams currently working on trilogies have not been cancelled at this point... however I would not count Rian's trilogy as a slam dunk at this point.  I think Disney is taking a step back to figure everything out.  Ep 8 was divisive for the fan base, I would not be surprised for them to move on from Rian.  There are a lot of quality directors out there who would not bring pre-existing baggage to a new very expensive trilogy.
