Genuinely, what could they offer to Russia as an acceptable off-ramp at this point? It seems ludicrous to cede territory to Russia, here’s some land for your mishandled invasion as a treat. It feels like a no-win situation; admit defeat, retreat, and maybe we’ll let you have an economy again?

I have zero knowledge on the topic, what do those things have on them to prevent some schmuck from just hopping in and using it, I'm assuming there has to be some sort of safety system or interlock or something, no?

Honestly, what do people expect to happen? Let’s assume the worst and that they take over the capital and overthrow the government. What then? Do they just sit stubbornly waiting for sanctions to stop and do they? Is it just a long, ugly, costly occupation?

I feel like there is a difference between wartime propaganda or simply telling a modern day story which has that as a backdrop of a clearly fictional tale and whatever the hell a Jeremey Renner movie would be. It’s just weird to see something like an Elizabeth Holmes biopic or a show based on Tiger King which is itself a show you could just watch.

When did we become so starved for stories to tell that we started planning movies of events that aren't even done?

I’m no military strategist but I imagine the “ideal” plan was to swoop in, secure the capital, and install your weird puppet government in the first 24-48 hours and then lean back and tell the world to lick your Russian balls. No prolonged fighting, no pleas on social media, no time for anyone to hem and haw about it. If Russia had just swooped in and planted the flag in Kyiv I think a lot of the people pulling support now would have just shrugged and kept on with business as usual as the path of least resistance.

I don’t want to sound hyperbolic, but I would march the entire invading force into the ocean with their families for Rambo.

I may be wrong, but I don’t believe a tactical nuke has ever been used in combat and I imagine that using one now would be viewed as a dramatic escalation that would accomplish nothing other than get the rest of the world seriously angry.
