This comes to you from the guy who did a fantastic dissection of The Last Jedi:

And while it does vocalize much of what's wrong with the movie, articulating it in ways that perhaps you were unable, the video points out some things that I didn't appreciate before. Ex: the use of practical effects was actually still quite high even in Rise of Skywalker, and the effects of the movies will age quite well compared with the very sterile looking prequels. And the actors put in some very good performances, on the whole, for three movies back to back.

It's enjoyable, and he makes a joke at the beginning about making these videos way down the line when "nobody gives a shit," so by all means ignore the video if you've had your fill But if you entered this thread, I'm assuming you don't mind a watch! He's good, so I think he's worth it.

Top Democrats say they're willing to use the budget process to bypass the Senate's 60-vote threshold if a bipartisan deal fails to materialize.

    Quote

White House economic adviser Brian Deese and Covid-19 coordinator Jeff Zientz held a call Thursday with Senate Democrats as they grapple with whether to cut a slimmed-down deal or use a process known as reconciliation to bypass the Senate’s 60-vote rule to avoid a filibuster.

"The sentiment is this: We would like Republicans to work with us to be part of the solution to deliver emergency help, but we can’t wait, it’s urgent, and we need to double-track this process,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who was on the call, told reporters. “So we will continue to reach out to Republicans, but I’m a big supporter of having an insurance policy in place through reconciliation.”

    Quote

There was a sense of agreement that the overall price tag for the package would remain at $1.9 trillion, despite efforts from Republicans in the 16-member bipartisan group negotiating the legislation to try to narrow the package, multiple Democrats said.

I bought Control for my PC and have yet to play it, and I just got PlayStation+ for my PS5. Probably download it for the PS5 and play it on that first, if it gets the free next gen upgrade with it.

The PS5 version is also included so you don’t have to worry about an upgrade.

Destruction All Stars looks like it'll be fun, would be cool to play with some D1P people seeing how it comes with PS+ anyway

    I’m down!

  4. Control: Ultimate Edition

    Deathloop

Hitman 3 (gotta play Hitman 1/2 in my backlog first)

    Horizon Forbidden West

    God of War Ragnarok

    Great Ace Attorney Collection

    Mass Effect Legendary Edition

    Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

    Resident Evil Village

    Returnal

    The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

I'm not going to be surprised if either Horizon or GOW are delayed.

Then there's the backlog: No Man's Sky VR, Star Wars Squadrons VR, Planet Coaster, Dark Souls III, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, finishing Astro's Playroom, finishing Blood & Truth, replaying some BC games like Days Gone or God of War, probably replaying Horizon Zero Dawn before Forbidden West

    Phew!

It doesn't matter. By stating that Trump had colluded with the Russians, they were spreading misinformation. Apparently, spreading misinformation is worthy of a permanent ban of the account so why wasn't everyone, let alone anyone promoting that misinformation banned?

It does matter since Russian collusion happened but the only voter fraud was from people trying to vote trump multiple times.

One of the reasons why it's no longer as big as it used to be is because Zuckerberg successfully copied Stories just like he's trying to do now with Reels. But yeah, Snapchat still has a very sizable base!

    Sounds like Zuck all right.

You like Twitter trends? Facebook incorporates it.

You like pictures? Zuck buys Instagram, and you can upload pictures to your heart's content anyway on FB.

You like Snapchat? Facebook allows Stories.

Hell, Zuck responds to you if your friend hasn't messaged you back quickly enough.

The Hill-HarrisX poll's first presidential job approval rating for Joe Biden comes in at 63 percent support among registered voters.

    Good shit.

Here's the first six months' worth of approval ratings since Eisenhower.

Trump was a historically unpopular president who never cracked 50%, but overall, the grace period to start a presidency has decreased since the 90s. Because of the historic nature of COVID, perhaps a good effort from Biden, stumbles and all that even he's warned will likely happen, will keep it higher than normal.

I just really want Dems to do shit that helps people because Republicans always try to sabotage them to try to prove that it doesn't work, and I'd rather they do shit, show government can operate even with a party that obstructs everything but wastes trillions on rich people tax cuts, and let Americans vote accordingly.

Actually, the OST is the only legit swing-and-a-miss for me honestly. I've said it before I'm sure but I by no means think the new OST is objectively bad. It's great music. Just the original tracks are very much more memorably eccentric. It's kind of like how RE2 Remake replaced the original X-Files inspired OST in the main hall etc. with something objectively maybe more mature and modern sounding but in the process lost a lot of the music's character to me.

HOWEVER, I'll report back on both those fights if I get into it tonight. And yeah, I also love the dumb posing battles after, or before, boss fights. I actually never looked up how to save videos or anything on PS5 yet, I never knew on PS4 either. I know it automatically saves some clips when you get a trophy so I know I have the ends of boss fights but that's about it.

The button left of the touchpad.

Really easy. Just say how many minutes you want recorded and boom.

    I'm at...around 63 to 65 I think? Level, I mean.

I had a guy invade me in 1-4 last night and we ended up not fighting each other but instead doing ridiculous gestures/poses at each other from dramatic vantage points for like 15 minutes. Parapets across the street from each other and stupid shit like that. Then he sent himself home. What a nice invader!

Anyway, yeah, I'm about to tackle the Dragon God and the storm...king (?) tonight I think to clean up more. I want to focus on 1-4 and not just dip my toes in, that's one of my favorite stages. I'm still so-so on some of their decisions but the more I've played the game, the more I think for whatever they didn't necessarily nail, there's always one other thing they fucking completely nailed. The re-design of the Maneaters is way better than the original for me for example.

And one tiny detail that somehow adds a lot to the combat feel for me is the way enemies drop their swords with those heavy clangs...something about it really sells the sword fighting much more to me with that addition and it's such a seemingly small detail. There's something about the overall marriage of animation 'weight' and the rather meaty EQ on the weapon and armor sounds that makes the combat feel more weirdly realistic than I've ever felt in a game...and in Demon's Souls.

YOU SHOULD HAVE SAVED THE VIDEO OF THE INVADER! I love shit like that. One time I summoned two people to help me with a Bloodborne boss, and two of us just started screaming at each other. At a certain point after the other guy screamed one last time, I did the Mercy pose and fell to the ground, and then he did a victory pose. Stuff like that makes multiplayer hysterical.

Lemme know what you think of the Dragon God and Storm King music and design. I LOVE the music in both; they truly feel like monumental moments to me, but I've not played the original and didn't have any expectation.

That’s so funny, I think you have a really good memory for board esoterica, I don’t know how you missed these things.

I do, but I intentionally try to stay out of stuff like that. The problem with CMack is that his breakdown was so loud and the complaints from users about harassment was so vocal that I couldn't miss it.

Cubans have been in the GOP's pocket for decades, and that isn't changing.

A bit of a simplification as it's literally been changing. :p

Younger Cubans were not as Republican-leaning as older Cubans. If Cubans voted the same way in 2018 as in 2016, it's likely Florida would have a Democratic governor. In 2020, that changed with Trump and Republican efforts over the years syncing with younger Cuban Americans. The huge surge in Republican Cuban voters in 2020 in Miami-Dade was much different than 2016, 2012, 2008, etc. So Cuban support is high, but it's been far from the same and has shown cracks of which Democrats could take advantage.

The overtures to Venezuelans has not gone on as long and are more susceptible, however.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is scheduled to take executive actions as early as Thursday to reopen federal marketplaces selling Affordable Care Act health plans and to lower recently imposed barriers to joining Medicaid.

The orders will be Biden’s first steps since taking office to help Americans gain health insurance, a prominent campaign goal that has assumed escalating significance as the pandemic has highlighted desire for affordable health care — and deprived millions of Americans coverage as they have lost jobs in the economic fallout.

Under one order, HealthCare.gov, the online insurance marketplace for Americans who cannot get affordable coverage through their jobs, will swiftly reopen for at least a few months, according to several individuals inside and outside the administration familiar with the plans. Ordinarily, signing up for such coverage is tightly restricted outside a six-week period late each year.

Another part of Biden’s scheduled actions, the individuals said, is intended to reverse Trump-era changes to Medicaid that critics say damaged Americans’ access to the safety-net insurance. It is unclear whether Biden’s order will undo a Trump-era rule allowing states to impose work requirements, or simply direct federal health officials to review rules to make sure they expand coverage to the program that insures about 70 million low-income people in the United States.
