  1. At the beginning of 14 and

    Spoiler

that whole thing with Aerith liking Cloud, hugging him, telling him not to blame himself, then pushing him into the light with Sephiroth approaching from behind... y'all, that got me, and I have MAJOR anxiety about Aerith now.

That shit seems there to freak out people who played the original, those fuckers.

I have no idea what this even means. Someone please explain it in Biggie terms. (serious not joking)

Businesses in many industries put in something called a noncompete clause in contracts. That means even after you have stopped working for somebody, you are banned from working at a competing business in the area, and your old employer defines what the area is, for 6 to 12 months. What this does is makes them null and void, so you don’t have to wait half a year or a year to work somewhere else.

Conservative groups will be fighting against the change.

So he’s trying to Jan 6th his own trial.

    Let's see how that's going.

The Circus Trump Wanted Outside His Trial Hasn’t Arrived

    I love this part:

    Quote

Ms. Loomer, who has traveled with Mr. Trump on his private plane and met with him at his private clubs, said that some Trump supporters had been talking a big game but had been “lazy,” made excuses and failed to show up for the former president.

“They say Laura Loomer is obsessed with President Trump,” she said on Monday. “Well, everybody should be obsessed with making America great again and obsessed with taking their country back. And sometimes you have to put your personal life on hold and go out and organize for President Trump.

“That’s what I do,” she added. “You think I have a social life? You think I have a dating life? You think I’m married? You think I have kids? Do you think I go out and do fun things? No. Because I’m always putting every extra bit of time that I have into supporting President Trump.”

I think "it can only be 10 movies" is dumb too, but Tarantino counts the Kill Bill films as one film, and he does count Death Proof as a film (the unrated, extended cut of Death Proof is definitely its own movie), which means he's currently at 9 films written/directed by that measure. His reasoning is he wants a perfect filmography and not one which starts to get rote or bad as a director gets too old or makes too many films.

The two written works Tarantino counts as being written by him (that he did not direct), True Romance (Tony Scott) and From Dusk till Dawn (Robert Rodriguez), do not count as part of the 10 films. Tarantino pretty much hates Natural Born Killers since Oliver Stone changed his screenplay so much, so that's never counted for anything. Obviously the episode he directed for ER and his two-parter for CSI don't count either. His guest directed scene for Sin City doesn't count either nor does his written/directed short that is part of the Four Rooms four short film anthology. His experimental unofficial first film, My Best Friend's Birthday, has been long lost to time and went unfinished so that also doesn't count. That covers everything.

I believe Tarantino is far more open to working in TV today than he used to be, but I believe he did those episodes of ER and CSI because he said he was a fan of the shows when each was airing. It seemed at one point he might make a DiCaprio as Rick Dalton TV series, but I don't think that will materialize now, but he seemed open to it if DiCaprio would ever do it. He did also release The Hateful Eight: Extended Edition on Netflix, which was a four-episode miniseries version of the theatrical release which feels like him dipping his toes into TV waters. Just as a side note, it will be leaving Netflix on April 24th.

Both versions or just the series?

His whole retiring after 10 movies thing is dumb. Also I'm not sure if he's counting both volumes of Kill Bill as one movie* or not counting Death Proof as a movie, because otherwise he has already released 10 movies.

*I personally count the Kill Bills as a single movie. If you can watch them both in the same day it's quite the experience.

    Tarantino agrees with you.

The "Kill Bill" two-movie truthers are wrong, Tarantino says.

  6. Gotta get the

    Spoiler

    Odin summon

and then I’m going through the point of no return. I think I’ll do the other side stuff I haven’t gotten to after I finish the main story.

The side things I finished are

    Spoiler

Queen’s Blood, protorelics, 99% of Chadeys stuff, pirate booty, and some additional side quests and vr missions. I got to the island of Gilgamesh, but I have not fought him yet.

  7. Near the end of Ch. 12, what

    Spoiler

Cait Sith says, which is something along the lines of, 'I knew it had to end this way, but it still kind o stings. For a moment, I thought we were friends," is what I felt as well. Unless they were going to change something, I knew Cait Sith would betray us with the keystone, but it felt a bit sadder since we spent more time with him here. My dude was crying, too. =(

And it's going to be a little bit before I see him again with some of the other side quests. Caaaaaaaiiiittt.

I liked the chocobo racing a lot except for those fucking doors! Actually really just some of the fucking doors. A lot of the time, you have enough visibility ahead of time to judge which ones would open/close when you got there, but there were a handful where it felt like you turned a corner and basically had to guess how far along it was in a cycle and could get fucked by chance. Those can eat a dick.

The star fighter mini game was the best. But I have a soft spot for Starfox64, so that tracks.

Yeah, I find when you're going slow to race toward a closed door, which will be open by the time you get there. Quicker, you have to judge it more, but I got good at it. I was actually happy to finish all the races yesterday after two hours until a power outage wiped out all that progress. :dancing:

This is also one of the smart things it does.  You don't have to scour every nook and cranny of the world for loot.  Just find the 2 or 3 chests in the area the game flags as you walk into it, and you'll be good.  There might also be breakable crates with moogle medals, but those also tend to be restricted to cache locations and the towers.  And by not showing you cache locations with the towers, you still feel like you discovered something all on your own.

I don't like the mechanic of finding items randomly on chocobos though.  Could have done without them, but its neat that wildlife ends up being a marker.

Ah yes, the moogle medals! And I remember getting some really good stuff whenever I finished those little side quest. I thought it was actually going to be more annoying later in the game, but it really wasn’t that hard, it was a fun and cute diversion, and then if you did it, you could trade for some really great items. So actually those cache locations with treasure were better than I remember because both them and the towers give you plenty of medals!

Yeah, but there's also a lot more "slowly walk down a hallway so people can give you an unnecessary long exposition." You could cut 75% of Chadley's lines and not lose a thing in the game.

It's a game that doesn't respect the player's time. There's a trend among older gamers who want shorter games because they don't have time in between work and family and blah blah blah. I'm not that kind of person, I've done two 80+ hour playthroughs of Cyberpunk. But none of the side stuff in Rebirth really has value. What was even the reward for finishing all the Queen's Blood matches? It never felt like any of the side stuff led to anything worthwhile other than checking off a box on a list. Until the Protorelic stuff at the end, but by then I was so burnt out and just wanted to mash Square through the combat anyhow.

I disagree with a lot of this but I appreciate your perspective considering how highly you view OG FF7.

I also feel the opposite as crispy does. First, I loved playing Queen's Blood; anytime that opened up, that's what I started with. I'm also nearly 90 hours into the game on Ch. 12 and I've not bored of the side activities; the only problem I had was losing two hours of progress chocobo racing because of a power outage. But I actually enjoy racing and feel the chocobos handle very well, making it less frustrating to try to win. Plus, 3D Brawler was actually possible to win.

I also went to the divine temples to get summons, which were useful, especially Phoenix. Transmuter chips were a godsend. Cache locations don't give you a ton, but they're fun to find and they're easy to skip if you want. Plus, you have plenty of side quest opportunities to get more skill points and items, or combat arenas to get useful armors. Hell, the

    Spoiler

    Chocobo Sage

stuff gives you an APx3 armor, which is sweet.

The US will not participate in any Israeli counter-attacks, the US president reportedly said

If anyone gets paywalled, the information is taken from the original Axios article:

    Quote

Behind the scenes: Biden told Netanyahu the joint defensive efforts by Israel, the U.S. and other countries in the region led to the failure of the Iranian attack, according to the White House official.

    • "You got a win. Take the win," Biden told Netanyahu, according to the official.
    • The official said that when Biden told Netanyahu that the U.S. will not participate in any offensive operations against Iran and will not support such operations, Netanyahu said he understood.
    • U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke on Saturday with his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant and asked that Israel notify the U.S. ahead of any response against Iran, a senior Israeli official said.

That's kind of a cliché of getting older though, ya know? The older you get, the faster time passes. When you're growing up and learning new things, every day is more meaningful.

But now we're all old and crotchety. And jaded. And crotchety. So much crotch going on in here.

For real, though: when I think back at the last 14 years of my life, I've done WAY more than before. I think it hit me when I realized I worked in my career longer than I did in retail, my first job. But despite all the things that have happened in my career, and all the countries/states I never stepped foot in that I finally did in the 2010s/2020s, there's something big about having a job through high school and college and university and up until my first career job, never mind all the different stores I worked in during that 9-year time frame. And so those nine years feel so much longer.

Having the same job through different stores from 10th grade through university plus one year seems like forever compared to 9, 10, 11, 12 years as an adult with a career.
