"Somebody who’s suggested that ... horrifying school shootings were pre-staged ... is not living in reality," the Senate minority leader said.

“Somebody who’s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.’s airplane is not living in reality," McConnell said.

He was just re-elected. Might as well reject them, even though you should have been doing this for the past four years.

“When I say ‘experts’ in air quotes, it sounds like I’m saying I don’t really trust the experts,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said of pandemic policies. “Because I don’t.”

    Quote

In recent weeks, the governor has repeatedly made it clear that he believed he had no choice but to seize more control over pandemic policy from state and local public health officials, who he said had no understanding of how to conduct a real-world, large-scale operation like vaccinations. After early problems, in which relatively few doses were being administered, the pace of vaccinations has picked up and New York is now roughly 20th in the nation in percentage of residents who have received at least one vaccine dose.

“Morale certainly was and continues to be at an all-time low,” one former health official said.

The former official pointed out that during past emergencies, the department rallied and morale soared as officials felt that their talent and experience were valued.

“In the pandemic, the opposite happened,” the former official said.

    Quote

Mr. Cuomo said his approach had delivered results in New York, including a positivity rate that has been declining after a peak in early January and better vaccination rates. New York saw the worst of the pandemic in the spring, and roughly 43,000 have died, more than in any other state.

“The scale changes everything,” Mr. Cuomo said. “My job is to get the vaccinations done as soon as possible.”

In the fall, Mr. Cuomo shelved vaccine distribution plans that top state health officials had been drawing up, one person with knowledge of the decision said. The plans had relied in part on years of preparations at the local level — an outgrowth of bioterrorism fears following Sept. 11 — and on experience dispensing vaccine through county health departments during the H1N1 pandemic in 2009.

Article goes in-depth on all of this, but here are just a few snippets.

Bennett's greatest therapy is singing. It's when he's most lucid, and he still remembers every word.

    Quote

Benedetto: We came one night after a show. And he said to me, "Susan, you know, I can't remember the musicians' names." And I just chalked it up to him being, you know, at the time, you know, late 80s. We forget things. And he said, "No, no." He said, "This isn't right."

Something wasn't right. Soon after that show, Bennett received his diagnosis. That was in 2016.

King: So four years later, what is his life like? Does he know who you are? Does he know who —

Benedetto: Thank goodness he does. He knows all his kids, absolutely. And he knows me. When you're somebody's caregiver 24/7, it goes a long way if they still know you. You know, every night when we go to bed, he says, "I love you, Susan." And every morning when he wakes up he says, "I love you."

I really love his duet with Amy Winehouse.

It's all credentialist classism, with a side of misogyny for aoc and boebert, and an additional side of racism for this criticism of aoc ("go back to bartending" is just a rewrite of "go back to your country" or some variation thereof; subtext being that she is out of her caste position, and therefore she doesn't belong in the halls of power)

Ya, but I don't understand how this is a Democratic issue. We can go further:

Democrats: People should get a higher minimum wage so they can keep up with rent and feed themselves and their families.

Conservatives: THEY CAN'T EVEN GET MY BURGER RIGHT!

Democrats: People shouldn't struggle and we should have a safety net.

Conservative: FREELOADERS! YOU DON'T WORK AND YOU'RE LAZY AND I CAN'T STAND PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DON'T WORK.

Poor immigrants of color: I want to come to America for a better life as I flee persecution.

    Conservatives: DEY TOOK ER JERBS

The person who tweeted this is right that it doesn't win people over, but the idea that elitism is an exclusively Democratic problem (and make no mistake, that's the overarching point because that's the stereotype the person is saying this is perpetuating) is the wrong premise. Nobody wants to be patronized about being unemployed through no fault of their own, about having to use food stamps/WIC, about being paid little and being told they have no skills, about having a "bad job," about being a poor person of color. These attacks are constant from the conservative base, and now we have January 6 video of them being batshit crazy on a different level.

  5. I'm happy to hear this because I remember reading, prior to the Georgia elections, that he wanted to do this:

The president-elect wants recommendations for all existing district court vacancies by Jan. 19, says his incoming White House counsel.

Following through, and getting the Senate was a big deal. They want to do all this and fill every vacancy in two years in case history repeats and Democrats lose seats in the Senate since they control the White House.

  8. On ABC, I think I saw 66% effective overall (EDIT: "In the trial, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine proved to be roughly 66% effective at stopping a person from developing mild COVID-19 with symptoms. But it was 85% effective at preventing severe illness that could send a person to the hospital") and 100% in preventing hospitalization/death

    "Highly effective"

The 1-shot vaccine can be stored in a refrigerator for months, and 100 million doses could be ready by June if the FDA gives the green light.

    Quote

In another promising development for vaccine science, Johnson & Johnson says its vaccine -- a single shot tested against a complex barrage of newly emerged COVID-19 variants -- is 66% effective at preventing symptomatic disease and 85% effective against preventing severe illness.

    Quote

Broken down by region, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, in the trial, was 72% effective in the U.S., 66% in Latin America and 57% in South Africa.

Souls games are a great example of the two concepts of autosaving and punishment for death not just being mutually exclusive, but where one actually makes the other more impactful. Killed an NPC? Fuck you, they're dead. Don't hit them next time, dumbass.

That sounds like my first experience with Bloodborne.
