The points dividend was something they offered a long time ago when they first started the card but was also like the first benefit they dropped. I'm shocked they brought it back again.

I'm fairly deep in the Ultimate Rewards ecosystem and have four cards that I use. Sapphire Reserved being the primary, a basic card, and two business cards. I tend to apply for a new card whenever I have a large purchase coming up to take advantage of any sign up bonuses.

I went ahead and got it - even if it went away the initial 60k promo is worth it. If/when they ditch it I'll just close it out, but until then it makes sense to get it and make it my primary card. At my spending level it will more or less equal a round trip flight to Europe, and that's huge in terms of future travel plans.

  2. Got an offer to open a Chase Sapphire card that includes:

    - 60,000 points if I spend $4,000 in the first three months

    - 10% in bonus points every year based on the previous year's spending

I'm thinking of opening it up to pay my rent every month, since even though there is a monthly fee ($95) and my landlord's portal charges a 2.3% service fee for credit card payments, I'd still net out around $2,000/year (and obviously more in year one given the initial 60k boost). Going full @Jason mode.

Think about how much this dude usually hypes stuff up and now consider how bad the Cybertruck has to be if he's saying stuff like this on an earnings call.

There's fewer than six weeks until Tesla's Cybertrucks start being delivered, and already, CEO Elon Musk is trying to set the bar low.

Netflix reported 9 million new subscribers in the third quarter and beat the analyst earnings expectations.  As a result, the stock jumped 14% in pre-market trading.

I genuinely get the sense that Netflix's demand curve is inelastic at this point and they're the only one among the streaming services who have that luxury.

    Brand equity, baby!

$8.55 is the reason I settle for Domino's when I do.

Here is why I rarely get Vocelli's these

And that is only a 14-inch pizza. I can get a 20-inch pizza and have leftovers for days for that price from a local joint.

And like 5 years ago I could get a large 14-inch pep for only $9.99. These days it's totally outrageous.

Skill issue IMO, I simply pay the extra $10.35.

Maybe a hot take, but I'm actually sympathetic to the fact that there are real costs associated with running a hugely popular website like YouTube and I'm happy to pay for it, the same as just about any luxury service that adds value to my life.

Yeah I just subscribe to YouTube Premium, sorry not sorry to the poors.

A great show that will be remembered, particularly for its first 7 seasons (though Archer Vice - season 4 was probably the weakest of the early seasons).

Other than The Simpsons or Futurama, I don't think there is a show with better one-liners than the first seven seasons of Archer. I still laugh anytime I think of, 'Babou, serpentine!'

Today's showing me how much Twitter/X has completely degraded as a source for news. If you click on a trend about this you just get hit with a wall of blue checks saying absolutely vile shit about Ilhan Omar. Maybe if you find every reputable commenter on Bluesky it's a viable option, but it's not there yet for me. I had no idea what was actually going on until I popped on here instead.

It is also distressing to see some of the takes from prominent media figures on the left. There are no winners in this situation, and some of the gloating I've seen about what is happening has been stomach churning.

Morgue workers said they had seen no evidence of multiple military personnel among the dead and that most victims appeared to be older.

Yurii Chykala, the husband of Halya, whose sisters had been looking for a burial spot, said he, too, believed a local betrayed them. “It was a very precise shot,” he said, “so someone here did it. I don’t know who.”

He said he had found his wife Thursday, dead but still warm, lying outside, burned with a shrapnel wound to her head. “There’s no point in living anymore,” he said.

No hell hot enough exists for the people responsible for this.

  10. The new mechanics they introduced ended up being just way too much...Combine level scaling with arcane systems like Overpower, and the sense of character progression was so muted that I simply do not have any desire to go back and grind the end-game. Maybe they've fixed that but it really put me off from the game, which is a shame because almost everything else about the game was exactly what I wanted out of a new Diablo.
