  1. I really hope Democrats still turn out for Georgia. I’d love to cancel out Sinema or Manchin.
  2. This is my former district, before being redistricted with the creation of OR-6. OR-5 was previously represented by 7 term blue dog Democrat Kurt Schrader, but he got primaried for a litany of reasons. Good flip for Republicans. Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer wins Oregon’s 5th District seat in Congress, flipping longtime Democratic seat red WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM That means Republicans will at least double their share of Oregon’s seats in the U.S. House.
  3. There is not enough popcorn in the world to satisfy me over the next 24 months.
  4. The middle doesn’t exist anymore. It’s all about turning out your own base and for Democrats that is Gen Z and millennials. Hopefully Dems recognize that after this midterm.
  5. I’ll be very curious to see the demographic turnout of this election. I think most polls *massively* undervalued Gen Z. Pretty much anyone 18-25 had to spend their most formative years engulfed in the bullshit of Trump and Trumpism.
  6. A good summation on the last 18 hours of "official" verified accounts: Elon Musk Nixes 'Official' Label for Already Verified Twitter Accounts, Says Blue Check Will Be 'the Great Leveler' [Updated] WWW.MACRUMORS.COM Twitter will not be moving forward with an "Official" label that would be used to identify companies, major media outlets, public figures,...
  7. For all the right-wing talk of Congress being a kangaroo court from 18-20, we about to found out what a kangaroo court actually is.
  8. To be fair, it probably looks a lot different. But this wasn’t a natural disaster or terrorist attack, an outlier that rallies the base late. This was something Republicans ran on for decades. And when they’re running on lowering taxes on corporations or reforming Medicare or Social Security over the next decade, it will continue to be the bed they made.
  9. At the very least, it seems “it’s the economy stupid” is now a thing of the past.
  10. My parents (dad especially) is the most typical evangelical you can imagine, think Mike Pence. When he was laid off back in 2014, he was essentially forced in to an early retirement in his late 50s but was able to get health insurance via Obamacare. My dad has a lot of heart issues (defects, he’s otherwise extremely healthy and fit) and was able to get monthly healthcare for no joke, $31 a month. He constantly talks about how great that was and how it practically saved his life. He continues to vote for Republicans.
  11. It’s seems clear from last night the GOP takeaway should be Trump is a blight on the party and a nonstarter in federal elections. I’m more curious what the Dems takeaway from last night?
  12. The cognitive dissonance of Karl Rove and Kellyane Conway tonight has been amazing. They’ve spent weeks talking about a massive red wave and tonight they’re like “yeah, most people were predicting between 15-25 seats and that is a great result to govern with.”
  13. A lot of Portland talk radio has been hyping Joe Kent. The tears will be delicious later this week.
  14. I read earlier tonight that the modern midterm average is a 27 seat swing, and it looks like Republicans will come in significantly below that.
  15. Libertarian candidate Betsy Johnson peeling off nearly 10% of the vote for OR gov. Just about worst case scenario for Tina Kotek D.
  16. Venture capitalist and Yale graduate. Or a working class Republican’s would say “a man of the people.”
  17. Right-wing media has spent the better part of this year assuring listeners/watchers that a red wave was guaranteed.
  18. I "think" about the state affairs almost everyday, even if just in passing. I probably discuss it 2-3 times a week with co-workers or my wife.
