god this show is so fucking good

to the people who have read the book, has it been pretty faithful? this makes me want to read it.

All of the broad strokes (so far) are there, so its a pretty good adaption. Certain sub plot events are slightly reorder to support character development. The biggest difference is that the book had a LOT of thoughts unspoken that serve to fill in the world and its citizen's motives. The TV adaption doesn't have this luxury and so its down to the actors to convey much of this with body language and tone. That said, I think the cast is doing a great job with that angle and I could hardly be happier with the show! I will add that Blackthorn as a protagonist is a little more virtuous then he was in the book. Not a deal breaker, but it is a change to one of the book's main characters, and this could again be down to not hearing his thoughts like you get to in the book.

  2. The current mother of games may well die a thousand deaths over time, but something will always cast its gaze upon that void and seek to fill it. IF cost is the current knife that cuts the game boy's umbilical and in that action's wake, a sea of graves does rises,  then all those bodies and soil will seed another crop to take its place in the fullness of time! Am I doing this right? am I swerving between incomprehensible and purple prose?

I’d be worried about all the spooky things that apparent may happen there!

Nothing will ever be spookier than my childhood, bring it Maine!

I think you're thinking of Lucian going on vacation there a lot.

    Yeah, that sounds about right!

  5. Here is a short story made long:

I took last week off, because in two weeks I'm starting a whole new project at the university and wanted to clear my head before starting another big lift. I spent half of that vacation week doing my bosses homework and answering numerous phone calls and emails. This was a breaking point for me, where I realized that my current job, interesting as it can be at times, is doing modest good and maximum harm for my family and my physical and mental health. So I've started to contemplate an exit strategy from both Cornell and the state of NY. Target move window: Summer of 2026.

So with that sack of context dropped on the table, who here lives in Maine? I ask, because I prefer the cold to the warmth, and with how the world is heating up and with a goal of making this move my final move before the great nap, I think Maine has the low population and hide away living I'm looking for! I'm starting an in depth research project on Maine as I like to do my home work before jumping into an environment. That said, its always good to be able to chat with a person from the place you are going so they can tell you about the things you wouldn't even think to ask. I feel like at least one of our folks was living there at some point?

Honestly I'd rather they just pass a digital info protection law that prevents companies from collecting and using info to push content algorithms onto people.

That would be far to clean of a solution and would shine a light on all manner of bad actors in both the private sector and government.
