Courts Will Allow the FCC to Kill Net Neutrality - But Might Allow States to Implement Own Rules

Recommended Posts

A federal appeals court affirmed that the FCC is allowed to scrap net neutrality rules, but it also may allow states to introduce their own regulations on the subject. SCOTUS will not review the challenge.

Of course, the FCC's justification for killing net neutrality was again proven false.

The FCC is also going to have to re-write the order as it pertains to public safety, pole attachments, and the broadband reclassification of the low-income Lifeline Program.

When the FCC re-submits their order, if they can provide sufficient justification for allowing preemption, the courts may grant it. So CA and other states can pass net neutrality laws, but the FCC may be able to preempt them on a case by case basis.

While I think the order is bogus and the courts should have seen that, I think the lack of a clear ruling on preemption is a good thing. A lot of the worst case scenarios surrounding net neutrality have been held at bay by regulatory uncertainty. It was quite possible this case could have ended with Title II rules going back into effect, so no one wanted to reachitect their network or pricing plans around something that could just go away. With states possibly having the ability to still meddle with net neutrality, and many having already gone pretty far in doing so, it keeps a large amount of regulatory uncertainty on the table.

It's entirely possible that we get through the election before this is all cleared up.

The Office of New York Attorney General Letitia James has revealed in a new report that nearly 18 million of the more than 22 million comments the FCC received during its 2017 rulemaking were fake, intended to support the repeal of net neutrality, the idea that internet service providers (ISPs) should provide all online content equally and prevent them from favoring their own services or customers over their competitors.

Look at this weasely shit...

They wrote this to make it look like "the left" was doing something bad... but all of these comments were generated to support Trump's agenda of removing net neutrality, not the EXACT OPPOSITE thing like the article makes it sound. They purposefully obfuscate and hide all of the details to the point that most people reading the story will come away with the literal exact opposite idea of what actually happened. If you read the comments, it's a long string of stupid idiot dummy shithead motherfuckers getting their panties in a bunch because of what the Democrats are doing, but they are all too fucking stupid and up their own ass to realize what is actually happening because Fox News has brainwashed them like the pea-brained dumb shits they are.

FUCK ALL THES PEOPLE.

We can get into how all of the media outlets are simply different heads of the same multi-headed dragon that serves no purpose other than making billionaires richer... and do that by dividing us and making us mad at the wrong people... but that's a story for a different day.

The point I'm trying to make is that Fox News purposefully writes EVERY SINGLE FUCKING STORY on their website with the agenda of manipulating the story to further their agenda. That's all they do. No normal person reading this story or headline will come away with a proper understanding of what happened. They crafted it with great care to make it look like the literal exact opposite thing actually happened.

It's so willfully deceptive and blatantly unethical. It's disgusting.

The framing of it is pretty disingenuous. Sure, it was "CNN, MSNBC parent companies" that funded this fraud, which was done at the behest of Broadband for America, who counts among their members AT&T and Comcast, but also The Internet & Television Association, who's members include basically every cable channel or provider, including Fox.

And they made the fake comments to support Trump and the Republicans agenda, a fact they very purposefully and carefully made almost impossible to discern from reading the article.

A normal person reading this article is going to come away thinking that CNN and MSNBC paid a bunch of money to make these false comments to further the liberal agenda... but the literal exact opposite is true. A right-wing group funded by giant telecom companies, who exists to further right wing / republican agenda created these fake comments to help Trump and the republicans pass (incredibly unpopular) laws that will hurt normal people. But no one reading his will understand that, because they are being willfully and carefully lied to.
