On a limb, anyone a writer/author and has any idea how you develop questions for a biography?

With the news about my Dads dementia, and the general age of my parents, there’s a time in their life I’m quite keen to write about.

 

From 1976 - 1978 they were teachers in Kaduna, Nigeria. Slap bang in that point where the British were hated/loved globally, tech was limited, Africa was a very interesting place to be, and their two years there were incredible. 
 

I’m aiming to visit my family at Christmas and I’d like to try and get a strong timeline of events then. Is there a good way to structure it or do I just let them go for it and transcribe and go from there?

Do you have an idea of how you develop questions for a fictional biography?
