Plus the devs were disbanded as the Rockstar San Diego team was the one in the spotlight for its work conditions. the game itself remains great... EA took the Midnight Club angle and milked the fuck out of it with Need for Speed's 15 identical sequels. Plus you got playground racing in GTAV, Forza Horizon and The Crew. The ONLY way that a Midnight Club could be great is if Rockstar puts a HEAVY emphasis on a good story and unique situations. NFS will never have a good story, since EA can't get their head out of their ass and ditch the underground emo vibe, which they're not good at. It's not impossible. Stuntman and the Driver games were pretty good driving games without being straight-up racers. That Fast and Furious game had the right idea, it just... wasn't good.
