The sora stuff is impressive but I think people are over blowing how good it is. There is tell tell signs in all the videos it was done with AI. I'm a strong believer in the 80/20 % where its quick to get to that impressive 80% but it will take a really long time to ever finish that remaining 20%.
This was the pinnacle of AI video 9 months ago
Now we have this
Less than year to go from silly gibberish to pretty close to passable. Where the hell is it going to be in 5 years.

Just in time for the election openAI has made a video creating AI
It is insane we have gone from DALLE 2 to this in less than 2 years

I'm being dead serious - if the Russians have parked a nuke in orbit, that's a goddamned "Sputnik moment" right there.
why is putting a nuclear warhead in orbit difficult, they are small compared to most satellites?
I understand the threat it poses both immediate and for the future of weaponizing space but is it actually a major technical achievement?

That's correct.
literally minutes after a reporter was shouting questions about him mixing up world leaders.
Whoever was in charge of wrangling the press should be out on their ass, everyone shouting over each other like children.

What Biden just did with the press didn't exactly do him any favors.
did I miss hear it or did he say the President of Mexico when he must have meant Egypt?

I saw this yesterday as an ad before a youtube video I was going to watch and I honestly questioned if I was dying as it went on and these insane images were the last neurons in my brain firing randomly.
This is just wonderfully bizarre and the insanity just keeps ramping

Vince resigned from the board, he is officially out.

The latest stuff goes WAY beyond sexual harassment, these are legitimate prosecutable go to jail for decades offenses. I don't see anyway TKO doesn't force him off the board and then WWE completely Benoit level washes their hands of him.
Also it couldn't have just been a handful of people that knew what was going on, the amount of employees that are going to be fired for this is going to be substantial

My sweet summer child.they are actually getting a bit better. I've been keeping an eye on used car pricing and they do seem to be heading down, it has miles to go to get to reasonable but at least it is headed in the right direction. You can also get a lot of new cars under MSRP, something that was unfathomable a couple years ago. Shit is still stupid expensive but it seems to be improving albeit very slowly.

The water pump and a coil needed to be replaced in my 2009 A4. Total cost was estimated at $3k. Told them to hold off as I window shopped. Inventory consists of only fully loaded cars with ridiculous prices. Used prices were not much better. I decided to fix it and hope prices come down later.
I am keeping my 2003 Acura limping along even though it is leaking 3 different types of fluids. Once my wife gets her new car delivered in a few weeks my Acura will only get driven once or twice a week so I hope that I can drag another year or even two out of it, replacing two cars in one year really isn't in the budget.

But if so many Americans can no longer afford to buy new cars , why are so many being sold still? Wouldn’t we expect the number to drop?Welcome to the world of 96 month loans and being horrifically underwater on your loan

I make well into the 6 figures and I’ll never buy a new car again, so maybe don’t do that.
my wife got in an accident last year and her car was totaled, she was fine thankfully. I work from home so we did the one car thing for months while I searched and searched for a decent used car deal. I couldn't find a good deal to save my life, she really wanted another Subaru to replace what she had, 4 year old ones with 50k+ miles on them were going for 70-75% the price of a new one, it was absurd, we finally broke down an ordered a new one last month and got it for a few grand below sticker

prostate cancer is one of most survivable cancers out there, if it is caught relatively early the 5 year survival rate is >99%

That but also did the Combatant Commanders (who report directly to SecDef) not notice?
the more I think about it the more confused/concerned I get. There are the wars in the Ukraine and Israel going on, US warships are actively engaging targets seemingly every other day in the gulf... like who is reporting this information to the president, who is the pentagon reporting to?

Doesn't the President have frequent meetings with Secretary of Defense, did he just not notice that he was missing?

Silent Night

To be fair the person in the above reference I shared was in my generation, they have just metastasized online now.
Is a lot of gen Z like this though or is just the overly vocal terminally online 1% that makes a lot of noise but are really outliers like it is with a lot of groups?
I don't spend a lot of time with teenagers but at Christmas my 13 year old niece was bemoaning the fact that she doesn't have a boyfriend while most of her friends do.
In a fight between teenager's hormones and society induced prudishness I am taking hormones 99 out of 100 times

Peacock Hopes Ad-Free NFL Quarters Will Pull It Out of a Death Spiral

The streamer has announced the fourth quarter of December 23's Buffalo Bills-Los Angeles Chargers game will run without commercials. The thing was though instead of commercials we had to go to the booth and listen to Collinsworth talk for 3 minutes straight, I would rather have John Cena trying to sell me a Honda or see an ad for whatever cop/hospital/NCIS spinoff there is

I rewatched all of season 4 to get ready for the finale since it had been years at this point since I watched the "first" part of this season, this season overall does not fuck around, when it is good it is great and really never struggled IMO. Not in love with where they went with Eren in the end but it certainly didn't ruin things for me. All I want to know is who hurt Hajime Isayama because god damn this show is just relentless in its brutality to characters even by action anime standards
