Yeah, I mean I align with SK's politics, but it took me out of the story at times. Still really enjoyed it, the villains were truly memorable. I gave it 4/5.
Looking forward to his short story collection next year.
An author's personal politics rarely bothers me unless they make it a priority over the story they are trying to tell. And as we've seen over the years King is a talented writer, completely able to weave his feelings/beliefs into his work to make it feel a natural part of the narrative, but at least in these opening chapters he's practically raving, full TDS on display. As I said, the underlying story so far has me intrigued. It's just a shame I keep getting pulled out of the story. For a character he loves so much and has spent so much time letting us get to know, he's doing her a disservice.

One of the most heavily downgraded Switch experiences yet, and still not able to maintain 30 fps. [paraphrased from Oliver]
still having fun with it, and I can play in handheld

I've been best3444 since 2001 on IGN. The only user from here that I remember from IGN is @EternallDarkness.

The other versions don’t load at all entering buildings in Hosmeade.
I know, but to get it running on the switch they had to make concessions and as I said the loads aren't bad.

I saw a head to head comparison of the Switch version and the PS5 version. It's not even fuckin close. Then compare that to high end PC's. The Switch version is SEVERELY stripped down.
No question the graphics don't compare but the switch is 7 years old so...big surprise, right?
Just now, AbsolutSurgen said:Ok. I had heard the biggest problem was the loading in the open world.
The loads many of the areas are very quick for the most part so far. The only ones that aren't more than a 10-15 seconds or so are when you switch between other major areas of the game ie castle transition to hogsmeade or when entering/exiting the various shops in hogsmeade but even then they aren't horrible. As I said I'm early on (maybe 3 hours) so I haven't seen/done too much yet

Compared to the other platforms?
only seen the vids from other platforms so no real firsthand experience with it. Definitely takes a graphical hit compared to the vids of PS5/X but I'm having fun with it.

I kinda wonder if you'll like it because of the politics and covid. It's probably the most heavy-handed one on politics I've read from him, except maybe Elevation. The covid stuff makes sense at least, because of how Holly is as a person. We know she'd be neurotic about it.
I still love Holly Gibney and they villains were great.
Only half a dozen chapters or so in but you weren't kidding about the heavy handed politics. Definitely annoying as it pulls you out of the story with the mini rants, but the underlying story so far is dang interesting so I've no doubt in the end I'll end up enjoying it. As for Elevation I can't remember if we ever discussed that one. I honestly don't recall feeling like that one was all that preachy at all.

color me surprised but the game looks and plays fairly good on the switch

I'm a fucking idiot.
I just got done seeing Minus One. This is not only the best Godzilla movie since the original 1954 Gojira. It is also the best movie I've seen all year, beating out Oppenheimer.
No spoilers here, but the human characters are perfect, compelling, INCREDIBLY distinct, well acted, and really brought out my emotions. The music in this movie is to die for. Lots of great music, including reusing Akira Ifukube's scores. The action and effects are out of this world good. The practicality and realism of everything happening really grounds the movie for me, even if it does surround an overgrown lizard.
To put it short, this is a perfect movie. The pacing was right where it needed to be. There were moments where I wanted to stand up and cheer. There's also great little easter eggs for nerds like me who love this series.
Holy hell. I'm still in awe. Perfect 10/10.
Go see Godzilla Minus One while you still can.
It really was good, and the movie is more about the humans than Godzilla, unlike the modern flicks where the humans are there but are misused window dressing

Been playing Okami over the last couple of days. So wish they'd give a sequel one of these days

well I've hit on a few movies now that actually have commercials during the movies which does indeed suck but for only 99 cents I guess I can't complain too much

Missed opportunity to say, "Better Watch Out. If you have Peacock you better watch Better Watch Out"
oh no...it'll forever weigh on my soul that I missed out on that
Anna and the Apocalypse ...so crazy. Christmas + Shaun of the Dead + Glee (assuming this as I've actually never seen the show)
-
Better Watch Out ...so not what I expected. If you have Peacock check it out

Always wondered about the ad plan. Does it show you ads throughout the movie or just at the beginning?
I've watched a few movies and so far it's a couple of minutes of ads before the movie. As for TV shows it' basically the same as network tv.
