  1. The first conspiracies are coming out now. My mom texted me and asked if I had heard anything about it being a missile that struck the AT&T building and it being about the Georgia voting system stuff. Where did she get this? She saw people "throwing in their 2 cents" on the local news Facebook posts. I told her to not pay attention to that bullshit.
  2. The president can sit his ass down if he has the desire to comment on this. We've already had plenty of right wing media figures opine about how "their city" will rebuild (despite having moved here within the last year). We don't need more empty platitudes.
  3. So would the issues of this movie be mostly due to writing, or directing? Because I want the Patty Jenkins Star Wars to be good and I don't want this movie to portent something different.
  4. Here's a 'before' shot. This part of 2nd Avenue was always beautiful. Touristy, or not.
  5. Quit Claim Deed. My guess is that means he transferred ownership of the property expecting to... not need it any longer. Anyway, here's a pic from downtown:
  6. The authorities here didn't say anything about a person of interest in their press conference. But there is activity at a house south of town, where police are investigating. CBS is reporting that a person of interest has been named. And since I am a knower of things, I checked out the address they're at. It's on Google Maps... and this is in the yard: Even better, the owner matches the name of the person of interest reported by CBS. And even stranger than that, I pulled the deed to the property. It was sold by the guy one month ago to some lady in LA for $0.00. Now... The person of interest could have been named just because some neighbor called in the RV tip to the Feds and they did what I did--looked his name up, found his address, and now they're at his place. I'm not familiar as to why the house would be sold for $0.00 to someone in LA literally one month ago... But I'm sure they'll be knocking on her door as well.
  7. Press conference in approximately 30 minutes. I'll see if anything winds up being revealed other than "We know who we're looking for in order to question them." Hopefully we'll get more. Also, I'm curious as to how much this is penetrating the news elsewhere. Obviously it's all over my local news, but I have no impression for how far it's being covered nationally.
  8. Also, the account with the other videos isn't the same account. I don't know how much S Mc G really narrows things down. For one, S McG is definitely Irish. And a few videos with clearly Irish content... isn't surprising. But that doesn't mean that S Mc G is the same person. There's a lot of Sxxx McGxxx's in the world. I'm not ready to give this one the full Pepe Silvia.
  9. I don't like this stuff because there's just really nothing at all to go on with these backgrounds. It could be that S Mc G is just the account that the security camera thing is associated with. And there's been no reason to post anything publicly from the camera until now.
  10. Curfew has been instituted by the mayor. I'm going to my Dad's in a bit to do Christmas there. Cross your fingers I don't get Covid. I'll keep an eye on this stuff later tonight.
  11. No identification or indication of whether it might have been the perpetrator or a victim.
  12. I had the same thought earlier. I think it's more likely that it's an accidental wide ranging effect because the knowledge of what taking out a central hub would do is a very small portion of the population. I also think that this is probably all it will be. When we say "this seems like the beginning of something bigger" because of the wide ranging communications effects, we're basing that off movies and books and what we THINK would happen in some massive terror attack. I hope I'm right in saying that most people that would do something like this really only have the resources to do just one thing.
  13. Interstates ringing downtown are partially shut down. They're sealing off the downtown core.
  14. AT&T reports service may be affected due to damage to their facilities. They are in contact with law enforcement and working quickly to restore service. Corporate stuff. Whatever. But they acknowledge that the outages are due to damage from this blast--not due to volume.
  15. Normal aftermath after an attack. News now reporting that A) power is shut off to the area, and B) AT&T has shut off some of their generators in their building. These make perfect sense as to why there's internet and phone outages. Here's damage to the building:
  16. Intentional bombing = "we know this was not an accident, but we don't know who or why." Which is a better way of explaining that because 'terrorism' isn't really accurate. Also, mega internet and phone disruptions in Nashville going on now.
  17. Update from the FBI and ATF: Several buildings on 2nd Ave have structural damage. They will sweep the buildings and inspect them with the Fire Departments to determine damage. In the briefing, the FBI said officers responded to a shots fired call (this matches many reports from witnesses). They encountered an RV that was playing a "go away" message. The FBI says there were announcements coming from the RV. (Witness accounts and the videos say that the announcement was "please evacuate the area" and also included a COUNTDOWN timer starting at 30 minutes. Starting at 15 minutes it went minute-by-minute). The police went door to door to evacuate people after arriving on the scene, then the RV blew up. They do not know whether anyone was in the RV when it blew up. Similarly, they don't know yet whether the AT&T building at the explosion site was the target, or whether it was merely coincidence.
  18. Maybe? I just don't know what goes on in that building--or the conspiracies as to what might be going on in them.
  19. I don't know if this was the target or not. I genuinely don't know what a transmission building for AT&T would entail.
  20. So where this exploded is 2nd avenue. It's one of the heaviest tourist areas in the city. There are residences nearby, but all the street level businesses are things like bars, restaurants, and shops. I guess it happened some time around 630 am on Christmas Day.... so there wasn't anyone on the street.
