@Greatoneshere I think this is a new thing on Plex but for shows (anime at least) it now plays the the theme song or a song at the menu before you select your show / episode to watch.
Yeah, that’s always been a thing.

I always found these award shows to be so cringe. Just a bunch of rich people patting themselves on the backs.
I dunno. I guess I have a degree of appreciation for acting, though I’m not a big movie buff. But the actual Oscars(and other shows) themselves are just cringe.

I had several good ones of Mauer when I saw them play at my first Fenway trip in 2016.

Having watched them play some this season, it makes sense.

It really depends on the game.
But I put down Dragon Quest IX for like two years and managed to pick back up where I left off.
I really try to stick with games these days, though.

Beltre was a HoF lock on his first ballot. I’m surprised Mauer got in his first go, but happy. I always really liked him. And Todd Helton, too.
Good class this year .

Kill Creek by Scott Thomas - fiction
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann - nonfiction

If Jason really doesn't want The Witcher book, I'll take it.
Also, really? We're asking why people want to keep books? Sigh.

It's always disappointing when a person lets their politics override not only common sense but their professional training.
With my family, disappointment is routine. Ge them talking and it’s 100% Fox News blurbs.

It’s astounding my dad expressed the belief that Biden has dementia and Trump is cognitively sound.
My dad is also a nurse. 😑

Yeah, doubling my income in California won’t do a ton of good when a house half the size of mine here costs 4x as much.

Where I live, Portland, OR, ranks as "only" the 21st most expensive US city to live in, according to US News & World Report, but the median house sale price here is $531,000 according to Zillow. Assuming the (outdated?) standard of a 20% down payment ($106,000 ), a 30-year fixed mortgage at 7.618%, and following the (again, outdated?) guideline of housing being no more than a third of your income, you'd need to earn about $108,000 per year. And that excludes any insurance, HOA fees, taxes, etc.
The median household income in the US was $74,588 in 2022, according to the Census bureau.
Damn, using Zillow, the median value for my city as a whole is $200k, but narrow it down to my zip code and it jumps up to $350k, which is about what Zillow estimates for my house. We paid $250k in 2014.

But getting started today but in otherwise the same circumstances you'd be screwed on trying to buy a house in a place like Los Angeles or Boston, while you'd still be able to do it in Arkansas.
Which is why I’m still in Arkansas, despite the shit politics.

High paying career field, plus DINK, in a low COL area. Debt is a problem for people but this is primarily about the fact that housing construction never went significantly back up after 2008.
Hell, I’m doing better than most of my coworkers.

Finished The Intern, now onto Ozark Dogs by Eli Cranor. Arkansas author and he’s pretty good.

Sometimes I wonder how I do so well when so many others my age are in the gutter. I grew up lower middle class, parents worked in factories, didn't contribute anything to my college fund, but I got scholarships and the $30k of combined debt we had coming out of college(mostly his) was paid off in a year. I'm 36, with zero debt, mortgage is paid off, I put 25% in my 401k, plus other retirement accounts, and still manage to pretty well afford any luxuries I want.
I mean, yeah, not having kids is part of it and we haven't had any major medical struggles, so I know there's been a degree of luck, but still.

Having just replayed this less than a year ago, I don't really feel a need to even spend $10 on the upgrade. I'd go for a PC release at some point, though.

The first game on the DS was so good. I had forgotten how close we were to this one coming out. I really hope Nintendo sees this as a chance and goes for a remake of Hotel Dusk and Last Window. The latter, I don't think, ever made it to the States either.
It didn't, but I imported a PAL copy and it was good.
I just got my copy of Another Code today. I'll get to it before too long.

Fire Emblem and Mario Wonder. Really need to get around to finishing the latter.

I always hear being a registered voter and voting regularly helps you get selected. Could be bs though
Been voting since I was 18 and have never received a summons. Husband did once, a few years ago, but nothing much came of it.

Started up two new ones:
The Intern by Michele Campbell - fiction
Icebound: Shipwrecked at the End of the World by Andrea Pitzer - nonfiction

I read Northwoods by Amy Pease over the last couple days. Debut crime novel by an APN, so that's pretty cool. It was enjoyable. Also gonna finish up And There Was Light by John Meacham today.

I could afford a new truck, but I like not having any debt and my truck is just about to hit 50k miles, so why spend a bunch of money?

That does sound familiar. We went through there a couple years ago driving up to see a friend in Fayetteville.

He’s kinda touchy but I recall one photo that kept getting passed around all the time was his granddaughter and he was hugging her at a funeral or something. And yeah, he’s been called out.
But sure, vote for the guy who brags about assaulting women and has been found liable in civil trials for actual sexual assault.
