Drawing of the Three is one of my favorite books
I’m still early, but I do like this one better so far. I just felt my eyes glazing over a lot when reading The Gunslinger.
I hear so much greatness about TDT series, so I really wanted to give it an honest go. Since he’s my favorite author and all.

He was one of the better presidents we ever had. Biden is a complete and utter joke. The guy is a walking corpse who is completely delusional and has no cognitive ability. He can't even speak let alone walk normally. I cannot wait until he is out of office.
As someone who actually studies presidential history, I cannot tell you just how wrong you are. History is far from finished judging him, but it’s not pretty thus far.
And as far as Toby Keith goes, cancer sucks and I didn’t wish it on him, but fuck his politics and getting rich off leaning into that hateful toxic brand.

Stomach cancer, not a fun way to go.
I admit to liking “Beer for my Horses” that he did with Willie Nelson, but otherwise, meh. He leaned hard into that right-wing dumb patriotism act and fuck all that.
RIP in peace.

Book five of the Stillhouse Lake series, Heartbreak Bay started. And I’m finally continuing the the Dark Tower series with Drawing of the Three. I hope it gets better after the first book, that was a drag.

I think the reboot is just written differently overall. I never thought it was a subtle series, but there's something about the way the characters talk which feels less like you're a fly on the wall and more like it's a staged production. L&O always tried to feel like a rawer crime show with the camerawork, but the new stuff feels like a different series.
Yeah, over the last couple years, we’ve worked out way through the original L&O for the first time and just got to the reboot a couple weeks ago and it does have a different feel. Almost forced. Same for more recent seasons of SVU.
-
I’ve been watching the renewed series. I just kinda wonder if the whole L&O universe has run its course. New episodes really lean heavy into the current political climate and sometimes it’s borderline laughable. Like when the defense attorney used a video of the victim calling his Black girlfriend “brown sugar” in a private video to her and using it as an example of him being racist. I literally lol’d.

Continuing the Stillhouse Lake series with Bitter Falls by Rachel Caine. And still reading Killers of the Flower Moon.

Unfuckin believable. Some of those haters are mentally ill. Jfc.
This is the kind of shit I was talking about. Toxic men in the community. It happens all the time.

Nobody is making a big deal out of Aloy's looks. All I personally said was they made her look more manly in Forbidden West which I don't give two shits about. I can't stand her personality in the game and she doesn't shut up.
I didn't specifically call anyone out in this thread, but I've not even played the games and I've seen the utter hate the character gets from the toxic gaming community. So yeah, people do make a big deal out of it and it's pathetic.

But really, as someone who gets horny for both the male and female form, I do not understand this. Theoretically I should be twice as bad about this, but...they're polygons. I don't wanna fuck em.

I’d say the easiest way to describe its current use is as a way to describe not liking something due to reasons you don’t feel comfortable saying in public. No community supportive of those things actually uses the term and it’s strictly used by people unsupportive of those things in place of saying things they know are not accepted socially.
Except on social media. Because then you're free to say whatever hateful shit you want that you wouldn't say in polite company. Makes fragile men(and sometimes women) look big and bad.

What does "woke" mean?
"Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination". Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights."
Basically what chuds hate.

It's crazy to me that this game is considered woke when the trans character is stated to be trans because the females in their village get forced married off at like 11 and they just didn't want all the rape. And other than that, while there is some diversity in the game both games are really mostly filled with white characters. But hey two (white) female protagonists and one is a lesbian and the other is just, not conventionally attractive and that's all you need to be woke to some people...
All you have to do is have LGBTQ people acknowledged in media for it to be considered “woke.”
But these people can’t even really define “woke” so lol.

I dunno, Part II is pretty woke for some people...

ALL people who listen to country music aren’t the worst scum to ever walk the earth, but ALL the worst scum who walk this earth listen to country music.
Okay, I read that wrong at first, lol. I was gonna say, “I like a little Reba from time to time!”

Finished up Kill Creek last night. It could have been good, but damn the author does not know how to write female characters. Cringe. Also, I hate when authors dump on fat people. Like, okay, we get it. This character is fat. You don't have to keep reminding us every other page.
Started another Irish HF, but this is set in the 90s and is a sapphic coming of age story. Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth.

Yeah, I got mine yesterday. My husband recognized the name from the last time you sent me books. He maintains it sounds like a porn star name.
Thanks, @Commissar SFLUFAN!

Republicans are such miserable people.
I used to have this irrational dislike of Swift. I'm still not a fan of her music, but damn if I don't say "you go girl!" these days.

I've never found the gameplay in ND games to be particularly compelling. It's solid and I don't really have any complaints, but it's just pretty by the numbers.
With ND, it's all about presentation and story and that's why TLOU series ranks so high for me. The stories and the world just really had an impact on me.

I'm not particularly invested in football these days, but I hope SF wins. I just hate KC.
Would have been more interesting to have a Ravens/Lions SB, get some teams not on repeat.

Wooo, finally finished Trinity. Only took me two months. I'm mixed on it. Parts were engaging, but it also really dragged.

I don't for VR for this reason.
Only normal game that ever made me motion sick was Half Life 2, but that was years ago. Don't know why.

Yeah, that’s why I decided to move forward. So many years between the two. Wasn’t Gunslinger one of the first books he actually wrote?
