I love the uprising of the Doom/Sludge Sabbath-inspired genre. I feel like its getting crowded, but this seems exceptionally good. I will have to give it a good listen.

The 60’s and 70’s style doom/stoner is getting really overcrowded to the point it takes too much effort to sort the good from bad.

    ASG: Survive Sunrise - 8/10

Admittedly I originally got this album for the booby cover (yes I'm still blind buying in 2018) but I thought after the first listen the album was incredibly solid. It's mastodonish/Baronessish kind of southern sludgy rock. Vocals kinda remind me of Pinback.

This gets a spin everyday in my car.

Huh. I was legitimately disappointed in Ready Player One, though, it could be because I watched it in HDR10 instead of Dolby Vision...?

I wonder if it’s because of the compression from the stream. Anecdotally speaking when I watched BR2049 on disk vs stream , the stream seemed less impressive but that could be my personal bias coming through.

I think the most amazing thing about all this is the fact that people bitched and moaned about the TV/device control for the Xbone to the point that MS rolled down to just basic support (which is still more efficient than using a remote control), but now Amazon does the same thing with the Fire Cube and reviewers/people are gushing over it claiming it’s one of the “best innovations for device control ever”... when MS literally had the same “innovation” 5 years ago. :/

Comparing the 2 is a bit silly , one was a nice add on feature and the other offers almost complete home integration.

Did either of you watch Resolution? The Endless was the sequel. It all makes a bit more sense having seen Resolution first.

They share a universe but its not a sequel.

In other words, five years after their first film concluded with an enigmatic flourish, Moorhead and Benson have brought Chris and Mike back in a crossover event with The Endless. “There’s something kind of punk rock about doing a universe on a micro-budget,” Benson tells Vulture. “I have never heard of it before, so I thought, ‘Oh, that’s kind of fun.’” To be clear, though, The Endless is not a sequel to Resolution; both movies exist fully on their own. It’s not a continuation, either. The Endless isn’t a long con the filmmakers planned to wrap up their first film — not least of all because they didn’t know if their first movie would be their only shot. “We didn’t know if we’d ever be able to make a movie again,” Moorhead says of their plans after making Resolution, which only had a $20,000 budget. “We were like, ‘Well, back to our jobs.’ ”

    The Endless

Small indie movie about a couple of brothers that return to a cult they got away from. The first quarter is just kind of there but then it goes into some great wtf is going territory

    8/10

    The Darkest Hour

Gary Oldman in maximum Gary Oldman chameleon mode, the rest of the film other than his performance is just ok.

    6.5/10

I watched the endless last Saturday. I thought it was pretty decent until the 3 rd act. It had way to much exposition about what was going on and somethings they didn’t even touch on, it was inconsistent in a frustrating way.
