No, but I just listened to a few songs by them and I really like the mix of electronic and metal music and the growling male vocals, but the clear male vocals unfortunately ruin their sound for me since I’m not a fan of male pop vocals. If the clear vocals were female I would find them a lot more appealing.

Yeah it was really hard for me to get past the clean vocals. I only ended up liking this band because they were the intro to an anime and it grew on me over several episodes. They do have one song without clean vocals called Crossover that's pretty decent.

I like rock and metal, mostly with female vocals. I also like beauty and the beast vocals in metal/symphonic metal which is a mix of female singing, and deep male growling. I really like industrial music too, and some punk as well. But I don’t only listen to heavy music as I also like chill electro, darkwave, EBM and synthpop.

Have you heard Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?

Not yet, I'll have to look into that!

You do have the Rokids and not the Xreal air right? I recommended removing the guards completely to like a dozen people on the Rokid discord now and it totally fixed the issue for all but one of them. It should just pull right off really easily to try it. I'm still looking for an ideal long-term fix to make it even more comfortable. Maybe very thin stick-on padding on the nose rim. I'm also thinking about adding like a quarter-inch pad to the top front of the glasses so my brows aren't actually touching the glasses where the vents are. A bit worried about sweat getting in there.

    @Rev

I got mine! Worked flawlessly with the steam deck right off the bat, even with the charging hub, which is the main motivation I have for these (for travel). Not setup or anything -- just plugged them in and away it went! The colors are indeed surprisingly bold seems like it will be great for my trips.

I'll echo that I feel like the screen is slightly too large. If we can modify its size that would be awesome. Maybe there is a way to do that through the steam deck system settings at least, if not through the glasses. I'm on an iPhone so I can't use it with that, but I think I heard there are adapters it will work with? I might give that a try.

That's awesome! Did you try removing the nose guards? For me the size is totally fine without the nose guards. I can see everything perfectly.

The only add-on I bought was the hub: https://global.rokid.com/products/rokid-hub

Also if anyone is interested, tt came today and initial quick and dirty impressions are that holy shit is it hard to remove the nose rest. I was able to remove the default one and install the other one, but I want to go back to the first one and I can't get it out. I just ordered rubber tipped needle nose pliers that will hopefully work to get it out.

The reason I want to go back is the second one is slightly more comfortable but it results in the device sitting slightly too low on my face, ever-so-slightly affecting the view of the top of the "screen". If that still doesn't work to keep the device high enough, I'd say this is great as a video consumption device but is maybe not the best for using as a monitor to get work done on. But using it with my Galaxy S23 Ultra it seems you need to keep the phone screen on to drive the video display, which is suboptimal, and sound was still coming out of the built-in speakers even when I put in my Galaxy Buds (which the phone normally immediately automatically switches to). But I'll be poking around at these two points more, possibly not until the weekend though. If I can't get it to use Bluetooth audio with my phone then it's definitely going back (happy I put it on an Amex with return protection based on the miserable customer service you're describing), and it would also concern me if I really do have to keep the phone screen on the entire time I'm trying to watch something.

Also the hub didn't put my Switch into docked mode when I plugged it in with an MBP charger so it looks like it doesn't avert the issue of needing chargers with specific power profiles to get the Switch into docked mode.

When using them with your S23, turn on Samsung Dex mode then you can use it with the screen off. And Dex is amazing on the glasses.

Also, I honestly recommend just removing the nose guards. The glasses are super comfortable without them imo. I still haven't gotten pads for mine and I wear them for hours at a time. I do get little red marks after like 4 hours but they fade fast and they don't hurt.

Sorry you guys are having issues getting shipping. A lot of people on their Discord are complaining about that. It seems that the shipping is fine in the US (though seemingly random and they don't ship in chronological order at all) but a ton of people outside the US aren't getting anything for whatever reason and the company is super small and can't really keep up with the demand apparently.

Sorry for the earlier harassing on impression and appreciate your post. . . .but I gotta know more. Have you tried anything in the 120hrz mode? Have you tried anything in 3D?

Also @Nokra you gotta let us know when you get your shipping notice. I shouldn’t be too far behind you on a notice and I believe you and me are both GTA/GHA area

Lol np I did try the 120hz mode for a bit in Citra and it was pretty impressive. It does get a little warmer though. It's hard to find good applications for the 120hz on the glasses since the steam deck can't easily push that much. Good for high end phones but most phone games won't push 120hz either.

I've been playing LBTW a bunch on Citra in 3d and it's amazing imo. I love it.

I have to admit I haven't heard of the "GTA/GHA area" and when I googled it, "greater Toronto area" came up. If that's what you mean, I'm actually in Portland, Oregon in the US, so I'd bet we're in different shipping zones for them.

Regardless, I'll definitely post when I get a shipping notice, and certainly give some impressions once I receive them! No news so far though.

@Rev do you remember how long it was between ordering and shipping?

I pre-ordered mine like 2 months ago so I waited for a long time but if you order now, it shouldn't be too long since you're in the US. Europe is getting shafted right now and still hasn't gotten shipments but the US is getting them really fast now from what I've gathered on the Discord.

  7. Sorry guys I don't get notifications for d1p anymore. I received my Rokid Max a couple days ago and I've been loving them. There are a couple small issues with them though:

The nose guards suck. They make it so the alignment of the screen is a little off for most people and with the larger size FOV the bottom corners of the screen get cut off for most people. I just removed the nose guard completely though and I think they're still super comfortable. Other people are bending the nose guard so that it works without messing up the alignment:

The other drawback is that they have a blue light filter enabled that cannot be turned off. I don't notice it at all but a few other people said they didn't like it. The developer mentioned there might be a firmware update soon to make it optional.

Anyway, I had the nreal air before this and I've used it almost every single day since I bought it a few months ago so I bought this right away. I can already tell they're significantly better and I absolutely love them.

I have international travel in September, and that might be the right time to finally get one. @Rev has been telling me I should get one for a year now, and the price is looking good.

Nice! If you're gonna go soon, I'd get the Rokid Max asap because shipping might be delayed by a bit.

  9. Yeah I've had the Nreal Air for a few months now and I literally use them every single day. I game on it sometimes even when I'm sitting in front of my TV because it's just more comfortable. It follows your field of view no matter how you sit or what way you're facing. It's gotta be the best value device I've ever bought in terms of how much use I've gotten out of it and how much I've enjoyed using it. If you want one, I strongly recommend ordering the Rokid Max now though. They are currently shipping. Mine are scheduled to arrive on 5/24.

Yeah. It feels like a lifetime ago. In my head, I picture Cmack and DT, Irreverent and his Chinese girlfriend all living happily ever after. The bearded gentleman (something wolf?), who sent food to DT, and his wife reconciling, stronger bond than ever. DGH found God and is now a spiritual man, preaching to underprivileged youths. Tofurkey and her husband are now the foster parents of 8 orphans, providing a fantastic life for them. Minnesota Fatz got off the sex offender registry when new evidence came out that the minor's parents were just trying to extort money from him, thinking he was really a wealthy pool hustler. He now advocates for those falsely accused of crimes.

The final season of Day One Patch has a fairy tale ending. <3

I've been with my Chinese wife for 10 years now. Time flies.

@stepeeany advice on continuing with normal life when everything just hurts all the time? How do you act normal when your body is screaming? I could really use some advice.

I'm fucking irritable as shit. I've been snapping at people. And the worst part is I don't want people to think I want a pity party, so I don't tell them that the reason I'm being short is because it feels like my arm is going to fall off.

I'm so tired of being in pain and it's only been like a month. Granted I've dealt with chronic pain in my shoulder for ten years, but it's only in the last month that it's shot to Spinal Tap levels of "this one goes to 11."

I don't want to compare my situation to yours, but I also don't know anyone who has had to deal with so much pain that they literally can't focus. It's like imagine the worst tooth ache you've ever imagined, but it's in your shoulder. There is no relief, there is no "comfortable" position, it's just constant, ever-present pain. I've had to re-learn how to sleep to mixed results.

Really sorry to hear you're going through this. Kind of a random seeming suggestion but have you tried messing around with meditation at all? I've only dabbled myself but quite a few people attest to its effectiveness on reducing your experience of pain. Might be worth doing a guided course or something. There are a bunch of free apps for it. I'd recommend 10% Happier or Waking Up just because they don't have any weird chanting or religious crap.

Hah, my husband is talking about getting these for our Japan trip to use with the Steam Deck on the flight. His friend(who we're going with) just bought a pair and he's waiting for his verdict before buying.

His friend has terrible vision and only wears glasses and he quickly found he can't use these without glasses, so he's gonna have to order some prescription lenses.

If you can wait until May, I'd hold out for the Rokid Max. It's basically identical except wider FOV and 120hz and the same price. Also the build seems to be stronger. My Nreal Air arms snapped over time from bending too far.
