There are so many better targets for rage, honestly... but it is what it is.
Unrelated, I know I've said before that I wish choices mattered in the game, but now the main reason I wish that were true is that I wish I had a reason to play the game again. It's been that fun.
Any NG+ options at all?

I've been having a lot of trouble with the game on PC. It crashed 3 times in the first few hours of gameplay and many of the cutscenes will weirdly drop me to 5-8 fps then it just stays that way for a few minutes before it increases again after the cutscene. I'm playing in 1440p with DLSS on balanced on a 3080 .

Meant to answer this earlier, I always go in through mstsc.exe yeah. It’s great on SteamDeck too because you can use the bottom right trackpad as a mouse to navigate in Windows
Something must be wrong with my setup. MSTC.exe streaming is freezing after a few minutes then it just stays frozen. Tried both codecs and auto.

I honestly think I went default but if you run into issues let me know and I can confirm settings tonight. I keep my games native 4k on pc and do a 1440p stream to really get it looking close to a native 720p with a shit ton of AA.
Do you connect through mstsc.exe or the game directly?

Anything coming out this year looking good? 4k?
I don’t think anything new will be out this year. Most people seem to be focused on whatever Apple is going to announce for VR. A lot of people think it will be small enough to tap into this market.

Well shit! Still using those eh? Any new experiences/use cases with them?
One of the arms snapped but I fixed it with electrical tape and it works like a charm. I use it for almost all my gaming and media watching still. I don’t envision myself ever buying another TV or monitor again.
This is the very first model to come out and it’s already pretty great with 1080p and good colors/black at 60fps. There are several competitors coming out too so the future looks pretty bright for this tech.

I play my steam deck on the NReal Air glasses so I can have it play on 1080p too.

I use Chiaki for ps5 too but it still seems like it’s a stream to me. Moonlight is near magic and at least 650x better than steam remote play.
Nice, thanks! I’ll try it tonight. Any advice on settings?

Say whaaaaatttttttttttt. A huge reason I love buying on pc is the advantage of using moonlight for near native looking/feeling remote play whereas ps5 is a huge sacrifice when doing remote play in comparison.
You aren’t using steam remote play are you?
Yeah I haven’t tried moonlight on it yet. I’ll have to give that a shot. The PS5 remote play works really well now with Chiaki

How’s the quality difference between PC and PS5? I have a 3080 on PC. Would probably rather play on PS5 if the quality is comparable because it tends to have smoother remote play on my Steam Deck than PC but if the quality would be much better on PC I’ll go that way.

I have a dock that I use to charge the deck while using a nvme usbc stick, I wonder if that would work for that purpose.
The real problem is the staff will be able to see you are watching porn in the reflections when you are on an airplane trying to get a little under the blanket relief going.
This looks very cool! I’ll need to read more what it can do on the mobile, portable end. Can you actually walk with these like on the street and get map overlays?
Definitely would love to try them just to get a glimpse of the technology, but they will have to be on the gadget list after the 4080 now.
And yeah, I just haven’t been on discord really in awhile. I kinda migrated back to just posting here more.
Unfortunately these are really only practical for at home use and seated situations like on a plane (though, yeah, porn is a bad idea since people can technically see the tiny reflections if they really look lol), but I can use them while doing stuff around my place. I cleaned the kitchen and did the dishes yesterday while watching Netflix and that was fantastic. You could use them outside I guess but it’s super distracting the screen takes up a lot of space.
By the way, for cell phones, I don’t think these work with iPhone yet without an adapter (that the dev is releasing on US Amazon soon). But they’re amazing on Android because of Samsung Dex. Samsung Dex with these glasses is wonderful. It basically turns your phone into a computer and you can open all the apps in it while turning your phone’s screen black and using it as a touchpad. It’s the main way I use them when I’m not on steamdeck.Another detail about them is that the manufacturer is super responsive to the Reddit community on the Nreal sub. They’ve already made a number of changes based on feedback they’ve gotten on there and they usually respond quickly to questions.

It has a 3dof AR mode with supported phones but it’s gimmicky and not really useful imo. You may also get motion sickness if you’re very sensitive to the normal screen because it follows you wherever you look and stays perfectly centered in your view. I don’t get it at all after using it for like 6 hours straight though.
-
The factor that pushed me over on buying it was that when it’s plugged into the Steam Deck, it supposedly makes the battery last even longer than normal because the Steam Deck screen goes black and the screens on the glasses are so small that they actually use less battery than the normal screen does. Unfortunately the biggest draw back with these glasses is that there’s no neat solution for charging the Steam Deck while using it. People have workarounds but they involve expensive docking stations. But when you have it plugged into a phone you can wirelessly charge the phone and you can also use it with a normal PC so long as it has a display port USB C slot

This will get @stepee to give up his switch OLED.
Yeah actually the main reason I posted here is because I was going to try to tell him about it in Discord but I don’t think I have the right Discord account name for him anymore.
-
I know we have a lot of Steam Deck fans here so I thought I’d post about it. They’re pretty amazing imo. Not exactly what I *really* want in AR but it’ll hold me over for a while until that’s invented.

I have her at level 80 now with mediocre gear and she's ok. The play-style is neat. I don't really have an amazing team built for her. Running her with Shogun, Kokomi and Kazuha.
-
How big of a leap is this Horizon from the first one on PC? I want to get this but I'm a bit broke right now so I'm trying to convince myself to hold off until I can afford it.
-
Any reasons to reinstall it on PC or is this just a console thing?

Did you get Opera girl too? She dropped for me instead of Shenhe
Yeah, I never built her though.
-
I got Shenhe and I think she's kind of unuseful. Ice DPS carries should really be in melt comps imo unless you're struggling with pve. Melt comps hit way harder. Freeze comps are just safer. And she doesn't fit very well in melt comps.

You gonna wish for her? I haven't decided if I plan to try and get her since I don't really have a team that needs off field electro dps.
-
If she was an off field fire dps, she'd probably not get used. They'd have to make her pretty op for people to replace Xiangling with her.

That’s too bad, it did look pretty early access from what I’ve read though yeah. I might like something like this in vr, but if it let me solo the whole thing and only engage with others if I felt like it. Not sure if you can do that here, but it seems like if you did, it wouldn’t be very fun yet.
I don’t know why we get so few new releases that are like single player action adventure games with a story. I want more of those. Give us more ps2/gc ports if that’s what it takes I guess. Like just LOAD me up with 3D plaformers on quest with gamecube quality graphics. I’ll buy them all day long if they just made them.
Yeah, I agree. Fwiw, Zenith is like how you describe. You don't have to group with anyone but you'll find people doing quests or dungeon areas that you need to do and you can just jump in and fight alongside them without having to communicate with them at all or you can solo and ignore other people.
-
I'm a little less fond of it now. It gets a bit repetitive. I'm level 17 I think now and the repetitiveness of the combat and quests has burnt me out a bit. It seems like it'll get a lot of love from the devs going forward though.

Oh shit yeah that's a good call. I did just set up a new antivirus. Is that git link for Moonlight different from the one in the discover app on Steam Deck desktop?
