The article you linked is using Amazon Sales Charts as the main evidence to support their claim which is ridiculously flimsy and has already proven wrong by HTC.

As for the Op, both have their strengths and weaknesses. I would instead create a list of games you want to play and see what device is better for the games you want.

If you are unsure of VR and have a Pro, I would suggest PSVR since it is much cheaper to try out and has some great games.

Well I guess sales numbers from the largest vendor are considered 'ridiculously flimsy' but a PR piece by the company that makes the headset is valuable.

Lets say that they are selling like hot cakes then.  We are a couple years into the VR movement.  What is the hot game that everyone absolutely HAS to experience?  Are there any great games made for VR?  (don't answer with doom or fallout or anything that has a tacked on VR mode.  That won't help your cause.)

  2. It seems to me like a bad time to get into it, unless you are able to just get a headset cheap and plow through all the existing content.  I think this iteration of VR is a sinking ship.

Pretty sure that MS had planned some VR for the One X and stopped pursuing it when the sales numbers started dropping for all the competitors in the space.

  3. I think the concept is cool.  Honestly I don't think many people on this forum would opt for the streaming box.  However what has me interested is being able to stream on any device.  If I could just pack a controller on business trips and play my console games in my hotel on my work laptop - that would be pretty damn cool.  Even if there was some reduced fidelity in the graphics etc.

I think MS is aware of the situation with the internet in America.  If they think they can pull it off then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see what they produce.  If it sucks I won't buy it.

Both looked fun... Aquaman seems to be shooting for a Black Panther vibe in some of those shots. We gonna see Black Adam or Superman in Shazam? I really hope DC continues to build their Cinematic universe now that Snyder is gone. They are KILLING it on the TV and Comics front right now. I will say that I may have gone for a slightly darker shade of red for Shazam's costume... right now it looks a little like literal long johns.

The Rock (who is playing Black Adam) has said he is not in this movie.  It seems like Shazam might not be in the Black Adam movie either.  Like they are doing a Venom kinda thing and separating Black Adam out to be his own thing.

To me I don't like the look of Shazam.  I don't like the huge fake muscle suit.  However this isn't really made for me.  It is obviously for a younger demo... so it is fine.

Aquaman looks like way too much CGI and silly underwater stuff.  The funny thing is I would give Marvel a pass on that - but thats because they have proven they can pull it off.  I will need to be convinced that DC can.  I haven't enjoyed a DC movie since the Nolan Batman's.

The $30+ price for a UHD movie is what makes me not care.

I don't buy much physical media, but I do have a few UHD movies.  Only my very favorite movies, and then only the ones that look great on UHD.

Also I have never spent more than $15 per movie.  Don't buy them on release day.  Wait for sales.  This Monday on Amazon will be a great day to buy a few if you are at all interested.

So they enabled DV only for streaming services? That seems odd. I'm starting to buy some movies in 4K blu ray, but I don't yet have a player. I was thinking about upgrading my OG Xbox One mostly for that purpose, but it doesn't seem worth it if it doesn't support both formats.

they already look great with hdr10 or whatever it is called.  They will look very slightly better with DV - so I'm still looking forward to it.  But it is a small difference that should not factor into your buying decision.  Also everything I have seen says it is coming for games and UHD.  Just not on this release.

The online Star Wars community has notoriously gone after female stars in the new trilogy, going so far as to harass them until they leave social media completely. The title is alluding to this, and that Keri Russel will be the next to be harassed. Obviously this doesn't represent all Star Wars fans...but it's a pretty toxic and anti-woman community compared to many fanbases.

All forms of harassment are bad...

But I think it would be more accurate to say Star Wars fans have a history of going after bad characters.  The two that I know of that have been harassed are Jar Jar and Rose.  I haven't seen that Rey or Leia were abused on social media unless I missed that somewhere.

Again in my opinion there is no good excuse to harass someone.

I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE Game of Thrones :p

I quit after the Red Wedding because I realized that not all of the characters were killed off :p

Well then watch Barry.  It is a very different show, which is great.  It is not a cookie cutter of anything.

I can understand not liking Game of Thrones.  I like it... but I totally get people that don't.  There are reasons to not.

Exactly. Especially since it pretty much has to be an offscreen death, either in the opening crawl, or her getting vaporized while we watch a ship get blown up or a building collapse or something like that from a distance. Not much dramatic weight to that.

We don't really know.  Just as Luke was the mcguffin in ep 7 with no screen time Leia could be in ep 9.  They could have her kidnapped in the opening crawl and the movie could be trying to rescue her and he mission fails with her dying off-screen towards the end.  Just as an example.

That would offer more emotional weight than if they just have some character say 'oh yea too bad about Leia dying last week...'

  10. I just recently started playing Shadow of War.  I initially didn't buy it because I was scared off from all the loot box talk.  Then I purchased it on a sale this spring and about a week ago finally dove in.  I enjoyed the first game in the series.  My thoughts so far -

    - I think the frequency of fighting the boss characters (whatever they are called) is a little too high.  Early on I died several times because while I was fighting one - two more pop in to the fight.  Early in the game you don't have the tools to fend off that many enemies.  Which feeds directly into my second point.

    - I hate in games like this (batman series, AC series etc) that you start the game somehow forgetting or losing all of your abilities from the previous game.  In this game they come up with a reason for not being able to dominate other characters until part 2, but that does not explain the loss of every other ability.  It feels like the first quarter of all these games is playing through the exact same origin story again.  Learning all the same abilities that you already earned in the previous game.  I know for new players to the series it is a good introduction because there are a lot of things to know once you can do everything... but it really feels like filler when I'm slogging through it.

-About the time that part 2 begins I really started to enjoy the game.  Being assaulted by multiple bosses at once isn't a problem any longer it is more of a welcome challenge because I finally have the majority of tools available to me to handle crowds.  I love attacking a group by using stealth and dominating all the archers in an area.  I love the feel of the fights.  They did a good job nailing the flow of fights.

-Graphics are pretty good.  Just came off playing Hellblade and it does not look quite as good as that - but very good.  Also the variation in enemy type is great.  I love all the different sizes and types of baddies to fight.  Things have not gotten boring so far... but I have a ways to go yet.

-If a problem exists with loot boxes I haven't run into it yet.  From my understanding it is and end game issue and many of you said it isn't an issue at all so I guess I will see.

It does happen though. I do agree it's not the norm, but this isn't a normal situation either. As I said, I don't think ScarJo has to do anything, but it's preferred. At least a failed attempt. Publicize the issue. I don't know - something. We always live in this "me first" culture. Maybe ScarJo should pass on the job, there are plenty of others someone like her could get. Like I said, she shouldn't have to, but it'd be nice.

So would you turn down a job in a workplace that wasn't diverse enough.  Tell your employer they should hire someone else?

I mean, I did say major role, not the zoo keeper at the beginning of Rampage (I haven't seen Rampage but it sounded like it's a minor role? lol).

But if it is indeed the story of one person, and it can only be funded with a major star in the major role (both are assumptions giving the studio a lot of rope), then okay, cast Johansson. But we all see how only hiring already bankable stars does indeed just perpetuate the same bankable stars preventing anyone new from making inroads. It's a tough situation to be fair.

I think you are putting more on the actor than is fair in most respects.  I know these people are rich - but at the same time they are always looking for their next job.  You can't expect them to come back from an offer to play a part and suggest that they take a smaller/different role and give their role to someone else.  I'm not saying that can't or won't happen, but it isn't what typically ever happens.  Just as it isn't the average employee's role in a company to ensure there is racial diversity.  In this case the movie studio is the employer and the duty to ensure any kind of equality (whatever that means to whomever) is going to have to fall to them.
