  1. You know I can sympathize with historical preservation. But in a crowded city with a housing shortage for a building without much architectural importance that isn't used much... Not really going to spend energy trying to be pro-life for a building. It especially irks me reading that two dudes who have probably never attended a service there are the people who are the face of its preservation while the people who actually use the building are begging to tear it down so they can continue their purposes in a building they're more comfortable in.

He's also trying to NIMBY the redevelopment of a church in Manhattan via abuse of historical preservation laws. The church has a tiny membership that can't sustain the building they're in anymore and it needs a lot of repairs, so instead they want to sell it to a developer who'll build a bunch of housing on the site and also build them a new church space in the building as part of the agreement.

NGL I was suspecting Norton for some reason.

Oh this is an extremely bipartisan issue in America. You've got the Hulk out there crusading against nuclear power. Rich people of all stripes hate ocean wind farms because they'll have to see them from their coastal mansions, or even if the wind farm will be too far out for them to see.

Which Hulk are we referring to? Not to put to fine a point on it but anybody against nuclear energy at this stage is a dumb dumb.

I lived in that town for a couple of months when I was ten. You’d never know it was western Washington.

Strikes began in Iraq, Syria after American service members were killed Sunday.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said U.S. military forces, at Biden's direction, conducted strikes on seven facilities inside Iraq and Syria that "Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated militias use to attack U.S. forces."

"This is the start of our response," Austin said in a statement. "The President has directed additional actions to hold the IRGC and affiliated militias accountable for their attacks on U.S. and Coalition Forces. These will unfold at times and places of our choosing."

Like Biden, Austin stressed the U.S. doesn't seek conflict in the Middle East but attacks on U.S. troops won't go unanswered.

"We will take all necessary actions to defend the United States, our forces, and our interests," he concluded.

This should be the aspiration always.

I gave up buying stocks when I saw how continually under-valued AMD always is. Either investors are too dumb, or I am, but despite pretty much batting 1,000 with one fantastic generation of products after another, almost without fail the stock falls whenever they announce something new. Just today their stock fell in response to an extremely positive earnings call, particularly around the rapid growth of their AI products, just because the guidance for their other products was down some.

I worked for a publicly traded company for a while. I always listened to the earnings call and investor Q&A. For the last year that I worked there all the facts, figures, earnings, etc were stellar. Massive pay down of debt. Better and better EBITDA. Subscriber retention better and better. More and more new subscribers. Increased dividends.

The stock price just went down and down. That was just such a clear example to me of how investors aren’t rational. I also stopped buying individual stocks shortly afterwards.
