  1. Looks like a reliable leak as it is based on Reuters catching a blip on the docket(likely a clerical error) where the charges appeared and then were quickly taken down.

These are the itemized charges against Trump that are listed in the document. Note some are repeated because they occurred on different dates. Any errors are mine!

I think the turning point for me when it came to Christians was when Trump was asked his favorite Bible quote and he clearly couldn’t name one so he made up a bullshit excuse of “that’s a very private matter for me” and they were totally okay with it.

Wasn’t there a town hall recently where he was asked about his faith and he gave a bullshit answer?

Not sure about recently, but a classic from 2016.....

Two Corinthians instead of 2nd Corinthians.

Like he thought it was Corinthians 2: Electric Boogaloo

  3. Or in other words, I like Gods that don't get crucified.

Who could ever have foreseen that this would be the result of making Donald Trump the leader of your party.

Honestly, it's been an incongruity between the party and religion for a while now, but neither group has a problem with hypocrisy so it has mostly worked. It was Trump's "Why bother hiding it" mindset for all the GOP's worst impulses that made it so that his followers find little reason to hide it anymore.

He did the same thing in 2016 when asked at the first debate.

He did eventually sign it, though.

He is far more in control of the party now and has little to lose so I have no doubt he won't cave this time.

If anything he could probably campaign on it and rile up his crowds by saying the establishment is trying to control him and free speech blah blah or whatever.

Same with debates. He eventually did most of them in 2016. But I see little reason he should bother with any of the primary debates.

Might feel compelled to do the general debates though. It gives him one of the few opportunities to at least try to make a case for why he should be elected over a guy that beat him by 8 million votes last time....

  5. I used to despise musical episodes with a passion but Buffy's pretty much single handedly changed my mind.

The show runners of SNW did say that they were measuring themselves against Once More With Feeling(it's pretty much the gold standard of the genre), but I wonder if the mention of bunnies and Uhura saying "I've got a theory" were intentional nods.

I liked the episode. I thought La'an's performance was the standout of the episode. Some of the others had a bit too much auto tuning.

  6. Trump may have technically violated the Constitution, but that's not against the law argues his lawyer....

“A technical violation of the Constitution is not a violation of criminal law," Lauro contended, calling it "just plain wrong" to suggest that Trump had pressed Pence to break the law.

Boy, Trump is just breaking out all the Arrested Development memes lately, ain't he?

  7. This thread is like the opposite of the old SCOTUS thread where there would be a sinking dread every time it would get bumped during Trump's term.

With this thread when I saw a shit ton of activity in just an hour or two it was like Christmas morning...

It is interesting to see all this happening. For the longest time I was confident that charges should be brought because it was the right thing to do and maybe it could contribute to his political defeat. But also confident that Trump would never actually see the inside of a jail cell.

But man, with all these charges AND Georgia's still to drop....there are literally dozens of pending charges against him any one of which could potentially put a 76 year old man in prison for the rest of his life.

It hits you that this is not a hypothetical scenario anymore. Very strong chance that in 2 or 3 years time Donald Trump will either be serving his second term in the White House or serving the rest of his life in a prison cell.....

If Trump has his trial May 20th, lets say it takes 6 weeks, that brings the end of the trial just 2 weeks before the RNC which is July 15-18 2024. The election is 3.5 months after that on Nov 5th.

    lol

Currently, the trial is set for two weeks though naturally that will probably be extended.

I don't know that Cannon can really shield Trump considering the other pending indictments and other extenuating circumstances but if just assume for a second that every decision she is making is purely political what do we think she is, or should be, aiming for?

Would this be a timeline with the goal that Trump takes the primary unimpeded(which all indications are he will do baring something huge) but giving the GOP an escape hatch to simply defeat him at the convention if the trials go extremely badly and they are looking at a 2024 candidate who will literally be in a jail cell for campaign season and election day?
