    Time Spent: ~4 hours

    Rating: **** /4

Still one of the absolute best indie games out there.  It's a Metroidvania-lite with single screen challenges.  The variety of platforming concepts are the real draw, the pacing is perfect, and the physics are fun.

Best game that I have no idea how I got it. I think I saw a voucher for it in my Steam inventory one day without any notification of how it got there. I heard that it was good so I tried it and loved it.

Shovel Knight is great but it might be too much to play everything in one go. Finish with one character, move on to something else and come back to it later. I really liked Alwa's Awakening, the 16bit style sequel is even better.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass was great (saw it in my discovery queue during a Steam sale and it had the Xbob seal of approval so I got it) but prepare to have your heart crushed when you realize what's going on. I liked The Messenger but couldn't get back into it for the DLC. I liked all the Shantae games though I wouldn't want to play the first game without save states.

I liked Axiom Verge and its sequel despite it being very different. Also liked Celeste but it told me my body was too old for games where I have to keep repeating the same thing over and over until I finally succeed. If you like A Link to the Past, definitely play Blossom Tales. Cosmic Star Heroine is good. CrossCode is great, I especially liked the new game +, achievements unlock points and then when you start the new game + you can spend them to unlock perks and stuff that carries over. One of the perks makes you do crazy damage and the best part is how that affects NPC dialog. Momodora was good, not very memorable but there is another entry in the series releasing in about a month. To the Moon is short but good and there's an RPG sequel coming in 2024. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was enjoyable but too short so it lacks the exploration typical of Zelda games. Undertale is not the best game ever, but it is a really good game.

  3. Mystery game unlocks in just over an hour and half on EGS. I'm guessing they're going to be doing daily free games like they've done in the past instead of the usual weekly so get ready to check more often.

Destiny 2 Legacy Collection and the next Mystery game is available next week so it's not daily. Current deal ends in 6 days but the new deal starts in 7 so maybe that's when they'll go daily.

  4. I've never used any of those services so I'm not in a position to recommend any. IIRC Ominous has, so if he still does he might be able to help. If it's just for files, a Microsoft 365 subscription comes with 1TB of cloud storage (you can also get just the cloud storage but I think the pricing is such that you're better off with the Office package) and it can move stuff like your desktop and documents onto OneDrive and then you have everything in the cloud all the time and don't have to worry about moving anything before a trip, just access OneDrive from the Mac or your phone, the PC doesn't even need to be on.

No, didn't see those.  Dunno if I'd really bother.

It looks so good with those. You can't use the disc 2 compressed textures anymore, these are the same thing but uncompressed and better. File size is really big if you get the highest quality version.

  6. As I got the second new game plus ending in Chrono Cross I remembered, I can just push in the right stick to become invincible so I loaded up an earlier save and got the first one. I've only been using that for a couple bosses to beat them first chance instead of having to come back later. I've been constantly using the speed boost.

Counter-point: motherboard prices are out of control, they’re even worse than GPU price bumps. A basic-bitch motherboard is still like $200+, and that used to be the mid-range price just a few years ago.
$450-600 used to be the “omg, lol, why?” stupidly over-speced top-end crazy-person “you definitely don’t need this” priced motherboards that would have like 4-6 full-speed PCIE 16x slots with individual lanes for each. Now, $400-550 is the mid/upper mid-range, and $1100-1600 is that “omg lol” range.

I priced it out as I want to bite, but despite the crazy CPU prices, pricing on the motherboards that I’d want that hit all the features/ports/etc that I’d need (plus pricing in RAM since I’d need DDR5) would be $810 for a 13700k build (even going with a Z690 to get cheaper mobo) and $1000 for the 7800x3D build. If you’re building completely new, that’s not including a case, PSU, GPU, CPU cooling (that’s also gotten way out of control price-wise unless you’re doing mid-range air cooling), case fans, SSD(s), etc.

CPUs are definitely falling like rocks in prices, but JFC at some of the rest.

Makes you long for the day when GPUs get so big everything plugs into them and motherboards are no longer needed :p
