  1. Looks and feels like Nintendo is cheaping out on cables compared to when I got my Pro controller. Might be a bit shorter too but it works and is brand new. The controller works too, all the buttons work in the Steam controller test. On the old one, no shoulder buttons worked, the Amiibo button didn't work nor the - and + which were x and / (rotated and swapped positions plus they were stuck pushed in). It didn't work unless it was plugged in and even then the charge light didn't light up. The weird thing is I used the controller at Christmas without noticing it was defective. I only used it for one game of Fifa and the stick and face buttons worked though. At least my nephew noticed the problem and they got it back to me  within the extended holiday return window.

Do you have a history of vertigo or anything?

Nope. Never had an issue in any kind of vehicle. Some of my nieces get car sick. Like I said, I played The Talos Principle and Road to Gehenna back to back years ago and after making it through the main game without issue, the problem started while playing Road to Gehenna. I seem to be fine in the puzzle rooms in the Talos Principle 2, it's running around in the open that's a problem. I'll try increasing the FOV, apparently you can play in 3rd person so maybe I'll try that, at least for exploration if it ends up being a pain for the puzzles.

  3. I started Frieren on the weekend. I was initially hesitant to watch it but now that I've started I'm glad I did. Mashle is kind of mediocre and repeats a lot of lame jokes but it's good enough that I keep watching and enjoy it. I'm liking Solo Leveling, I'm not about to stop and wait but it seems like it would have been better binged. Still watching One Piece.

  4. I made it through The Talos Principle just fine (almost 8 years ago) but playing The Road to Gehenna I experienced motion sickness for the first time. Not bad enough to puke and I don't have a problem with actual motion in a moving vehicle. Since then there have been a few first person games that have given me trouble including replays of games that weren't a problem the first time I played them. The Talos Principle 2 has a section in the settings for motion sickness but no real explanation of how to adjust the settings to make it better. I seem to be fine walking around doing the puzzles, running around open areas seems to be the problem for me. Any tips dealing with this?

  5. When I started the process it sounded like they're going to deliver the new one and then I'd have 30 days to send in the old one. After selecting the default delivery option it sounds like they're going to pick up the old one when they deliver the new one. The pickup is scheduled for tomorrow so if the delivery guy doesn't have the new one I'll have to wait, probably not long though. Next couple of games I play with a controller, I'll probably use a different controller and I have a really short USB to USB C cable I can use if I have to so I'll probably just put mine in the box and take the new one.

  6. I got the Switch Pro controller I gave my nephew for Christmas back because half the buttons don't work and it doesn't charge. I put in a request for a replacement with Amazon. The problem is that I was only given back the controller and the box (the main part, not the cardboard inside). The charging cable is in another city. Any idea if Amazon cares if the cable is missing? Or should I throw mine in the box to be safe and take the one from the replacement before giving it to my nephew?

It's still the best anime streaming service out there. HOWEVER, there's a whole lot of fantastic anime on Netflix. Pluto came out last month on Netflix and I feel it really flew under the radar. It might be an Astroboy spinoff, but it is very much hard sci-fi. I really liked it and wish more people would give it a shot.

I watched it over the weekend and loved it.

  8. I've only played Ys I&II, but it's definitely a good place to start since they're short.

Trials of Mana is relatively short if you just do a single playthrough. If you want to try all the characters you need to do at least 2 play throughs but the first 2 party members get extra story scenes so if you want to see it all you need to play 3 times so that each character can be in either the first or second slot at least once.

FFXII is long but with the remaster you can speed it up. DQXI is long if you do everything.

I bought DOS2 already for $13 on the steam sale. But thanks for the heads up.

Just a heads up, if you have part of a bundle on Steam, buying the bundle gives just what you're missing. So if you do want the first game, you can get it with the 81% bundle discount instead of 75% off. I think it will automatically add the bundle if you try to buy just DOS since you already have DOS2.

  10. Finished Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. Got all the characters. Back when I played the original I missed Harle cause you have to play part way through a new game plus till she joins the party, finish the game before she permanently leaves the party and start another new game plus. Didn't encounter any crashes or freezes. It was nice to try Radical Dreamers but it's not that great so I'm glad it's simply included, with no extras like achievements. I played through Radical Dreamers just once (played it before starting Chrono Cross) and almost had to start over but thanks to my save rotation was able to go back a save and finish it (you need to have enough health - though your health isn't visible - to be able to finish it and on the first attempt I got unlucky with random encounters and all the sources of healing were already used up).

I don't know what's in my library because unlike Steam, where the web page acts just like the client, EGS forces you to download the launcher to see what games you have. What a great storefront!

I made a spreadsheet for the over 350 games I have on EGS so every time I claim a game I have to add it.
