It's Wildfire Season in the Pacific Northwest. In April. WWW.PDXMONTHLY.COM Yes, already. It just hasn't rained. We've been helped so far by the fact that it's been colder than mormal, so the snow pack hasn't melted as fast as it normally does. But we're a full ~5-6 inches of rain below average going into the dry season. Unless we get a monsoon in the next couple months, we're going to get very burny very fast.

This is an absolutely FANTASTIC piece of reporting from ProPublica (as usual!) and the NYT Magazine! Make no mistake that the notion of "climate refugees" spilling over the borders WILL be used by the far-right in North America (as it is already being used by the "ecofascists" in Europe) as a political sledgehammer to further exclude "brown people" from coming into the country. A PDF detailing the modeling methodology used to prepare this report can be found here.

The only way to really guess is to know about the pledge nearly a couple dozen African countries made on restoring their forests. If you knew about this, well done. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-49151523 Regardless as to if the number is inflated (I saw a BBC editor question the minister as to how to confirm and how many people took part), these kind of initiatives are nice to see. I wasn't even aware of the one in India.

I specifically remember Engel arguing that liberals were anti-vaccine.
