I thought exactly the same actually (including the Prometheus thing but that may be a coincidence) and had that vague feeling for quite a bit of the film's imagery in general. Letting it sink in now for a bit...well, I just ultimately found it rather forgettable and 'light' unfortunately despite the gorgeous aesthetics and all the allusions to deeper meaning. It just didn't stick in my head and make me wonder what xyz really meant like it more than likely aspires to do considering its obvious influences.
