Probably not quite as long as that, but it's definitely been more than a decade since the Hollywood deluge effectively overwhelmed/suffocated the original purpose of the convention.

Yeah it's been at least 15 years I would say. When did Sin City come out? I think it started around then... or 300. Those movies used comic con very effectively to promote themselves. Shit Entourage had a whole episode about them going to Comic Con to promote Vince's Aquaman movie.
