Trepang2 is a satisfying fast-paced and over-the-top shooter that is also a reminder of an era defined by innovation. It’s an experience anyone can easily get into and will be mesmerized by the intense action. If you enjoyed classics like F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon then you will want to play Trepang2.

Trepang2 is the most unabashedly fun first person shooter since 2016's DOOM.

Trepang2 is a fun blast from the past with a lot of modern aspects and a story you’ll need to work for. You’ll be left guessing after each mission until you can piece everything together, though this is a really nice driving point that’ll keep you coming back for more. This is a first-person adrenalin pumping game that can appeal to any player because of its simple but wild, chaotic atmosphere.

Trepang2 is a brilliant shooter that captures the atmosphere and action of its inspiration perfectly thanks to its frantic gunplay and unnerving tone. It’s clear from the get-go that the FEAR series heavily inspired the game, and whilst it could be argued that it could have done with a few more original ideas of its own, it does everything SO well that it’s hard to complain. It’s brutal, fast-paced, and strategic, and with plenty of shocking moments to keep players on the edge of their seats, easily stands out as a must-play shooter.

Trepang2 is an absolutely brilliant experience. Combat is insanely fun and satisfying, and the story is entertaining. The price tag may be a little high as the content is thin, but the fantastic gameplay loop makes it worth the time and the money.

While Trepang2 might suffer from some technical issues at launch, many action FPS fans are going to find a lot of fun with the weapons and abilities that this title gives you. Its industry-standard story might not be the most exciting, but the constant hail of bullets more than makes up for it.

It takes the ultra fast-paced and epic combat last seen in F.E.A.R., and dials that up even further. The game does features some of the best first-person combat I have seen since the original F.E.A.R. in terms grounded environments and glorious amounts of destruction. Whilst it does have some issues, Trepang2 dedicates itself to just being a huge amount of fun with as little baggage as possible, and I can gladly say it succeeded at that.

Trepang2 offers a lot of choices in terms of customization, gameplay, and mechanics for players. While the enemy AI isn't that clever and the difficulty surrounds changing damage values more than making enemies smarter, it more than makes up for it with its memorable set pieces, gun variety, and incredibly chilling horror moments.

If you’re looking for a slick John Wick-style shooter to delve into, this game will be right up your street. If you’re looking for a successor to F.E.A.R, with action and horror combined in one package, it’s all here too.

In the moment-to-moment action, Trepang2 pretty much delivers on all fronts. It's sheer fun, a joyous bloodbath where creativity in combat reigns supreme, and well worth a look if you’re not averse to a few scares.

Trepang2 doesn't really care about its setting and story. Instead, it just wants to give you some guns, the ability to slow down time, and just set you loose on some corrupt corporations and a shady cult. It features fantastic gunplay and some excellent enemy AI to play around with, and despite the visual clutter, you'll quite likely find yourself having a good time.

Trepang 2 is a short but sweet tribute to classic slow-motion shooters like F.E.A.R. with great action and a throwaway story.

If you're looking for some solid FPS action then Trepang2 is a great option, especially for players who like the game that hits the ground running and puts the focus on the action rather than the extended narrative as much of the story is told over the course of missions rather through drawn-out cut scenes

Trepang 2 has a pretty narrow focus, but it does the bloody first-person combat genre proud. Kudos to developer Trepang for doing a few things really well and not trying to make the next Call of Duty clone. Trepang 2 borrows a few ideas from F.E.A.R. and snags some mechanics from classic shooters, and the result is both fresh and familiar fun.

Trepang2 is not a perfect title and suffers from some problems that often afflict the productions of minor teams that aim too high.

Trepang2 is a game made according to a recipe that's more than 20 years old. Arguably, however, the FEAR formula is still relevant. The shooting is really, really satisfying, too. A pleasant surprise, for sure!

While not without flaws, some more glaring than others, Trepang2 still offer some of the most intense and visceral combat you can find in an FPS and that is more than enough to make for a solid experience.

I really appreciate Trepang2 as a debut for Trepang Studio. But next time it would be great to see something beyond good combat gameplay.

Trepang2 has some of the best gunplay since the original F.E.A.R, with devastating destruction routinely on display. It often eclipses its inspiration during combat encounters, but almost every other aspect doesn't reach the same heights. With the inclusion of an unnecessary HUB area, cheap horror elements, and a predictable plot, Trepang2 is worth it for its thoroughly enjoyable gunplay, but not much else.

The Games Machine - Gabriele Barducci - Italian - 6.3 / 10

Trepang2 does nothing to hide its true nature, which is to be a decent fps, very fun in the shooting phases, but poor in all the rest of the game package.

Trepang2 is not as good as it wants to be, or as anyone would be led to believe. Trepang Studios certainly tried emulating Monolith's epic first-person shooter, and the gunplay certainly comes close to that, but they failed miserably at nearly everything else. This is a terrifically gory game, and it's great coating rooms in strawberry jam each and every time, but there's a lot of bad to get through before seeing the good. Trepang2 has only a few redeeming qualities, but even then those have been done better in other games. It's sad that Trepang2 is a pale imitation of F.E.A.R. in every way, and is a completely forgettable experience I can't recommend even a little.

Trepang2 is a short but joyously violent first-person horror shooter and the closest we've had to F.E.A.R. in years

The demo actually just convinced me I’ll pass on this. It plays okay, though I don’t remember if Fear had the reticule right in the middle, either way I don’t like it here. But it’s so soulless. Just really blank looking corridors with no atmosphere or artistic style. The demo feels like they copied the general concept of Fear but just an empty shell of it.
