TwinIon
After a thirteen year wait, the sequel to the highest grossing film of all time is finally releasing this December. After such a long wait, it makes sense that audiences might want to revisit the first Avatar, and Disney has decided that should be done in a theater. Without any advanced notice, Disney has pulled Avatar from Disney+ ahead of the theatrical re-release on September 23rd. I know movie streaming rights are not nearly as straightforward as one might think. Even when a company owns the rights to a film and has their own streaming service, things might not be entirely straightforward (see: Harry Potter). I'm sure things get even more complicated when you have to negotiate with theaters who haven't been terribly keen to host films available to stream. Still, it seems particularly cold to pull a film as big and old as Avatar from the service that everyone rightfully expects it to be on, just as interest in the film might resurface, without any warning, as basically all streaming services typically provide. Reputator
They even removed the blu-ray from my house ahead of the theatrical re-release. Those sneaky bastards!
