Commissar SFLUFAN
This is from a South African poster on ResetERA: Quote Yep, another South African here. In Cape Town though and things haven't spilled over into our province yet. It's absolute fucking chaos in Kwazulu-Natal and Gauteng at the moment. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Very anxious and frightened with what is happening at the moment. Edit: Just to add, I don't think this is a bread riot. There is very little indication that there is. Yes, 74% youth unemployment, Covid, lockdowns, and hunger etc are a massive factor at play, but the spark to all this madness was started by security elements in the state still aligned with the former president, Jacob Zuma, and is being driven by them to sow discord and dysfunction in the (already dysfunctional) leadership of the ANC. This is a very dangerous political moment in the country right now. Durban's supply lines and vaccination centres have been destroyed in the midst of a vicious third wave of the pandemic, while malls, supermarkets, clinics, family owned business, etc have been gutted and torched, and things are looking to get worse in the coming days/weeks/months as Twitter bot campaigns start direct this anger towards immigrants. And our police and military forces seem unable (and completely unwilling) to do a thing about it. It is a politically co-ordinated attack being fuelled by a rival faction within the ANC as a response to the most corrupt president our country has ever known in its democracy being (rightfully) jailed. So please tell any outside observers in the West you see who are trying to ascribe a 'revolutionary' status to these riots to fuck right off into the sun. Commissar SFLUFAN
Vigilante groups form in South Africa to tackle looting and violence | South Africa | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Officials warn citizens not to take law into own hands to protect homes and business from protests Quote Senior officials in South Africa have appealed to ordinary citizens not to take the law into their own hands as vigilante groups form following days of unchecked looting and violent protests across a swath of the country. Though thousands of soldiers have joined police on the streets, law enforcement agencies still appear unable to stem ongoing attacks by crowds on warehouses, supermarkets, shopping malls, clinics and factories. In many parts of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, the two provinces hit by the violence, vigilante groups and armed community patrols have formed as anxious residents seek to protect their homes and businesses.
Commissar SFLUFAN
South Africa: 10,000 troops deployed and reservists called up to quell unrest | South Africa | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Warnings of looming humanitarian crisis as looting and violence hits food, fuel and medicine chains Quote South Africa says it has put 10,000 soldiers on the streets and is calling up reservists for the first time for decades following days of looting and violence that have threatened food and fuel supplies across the country. The death toll stands at 117, and more than 3,000 people have been arrested according to official figures, since the former president Jacob Zuma began a 15-month jail term, sparking protests that rapidly turned into a wave of looting of shops, malls and warehouses. The unrest, which has been accompanied by attacks on communications facilities, roads and other critical infrastructure, has largely been limited to the provinces of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, but has hit goods and services around South Africa.
