The pharmaceutical industry has made a last-ditch C$1 billion ($761 million) proposal to the Canadian government in hopes of fending off parts of a drug pricing crackdown set to go into effect on Jan. 1, according to industry documents reviewed by Reuters.

Canada bases its drug prices (when buying in bulk) off of international sales, but has decided to drop the US and Swiss prices from this calculation after determining that those countries pay too much. Drug companies aren't happy with this, and are openly offering a bribe to the Canadian government to scrap the change, in the form of money to local manufacturing the research. lol.
