I’m on chapter 18 in Fire Emblem Engage and it’s so damn good. Playing in handheld mode using my AirPods sounds amazing. I’m 42 hours in and there is 26 chapters. I can tell the story is starting to wrap up. Crazy good game.

I really enjoyed Three Houses…would you say the experience is better or worse?

  2. Blast Corps, which is such a fun, little game. We’ve got a stupid amount of work to do at home (and work in general) so my gaming this week will be limited - but I’ll imagine I’ll do a few more quest points in Pokémon Scarlet, maybe some more Nintendo Online silliness, and I want to try out Remote Play on my laptop at some point and see if it’s worth pursuing or not.

  3. Twice this week I’ve had some pretty bad dreams.

First was being a POW during a war and being part of a group that decided to escape, except all he others tried to dash across a field and were shot, so it was me left trying to get away with dogs and soldiers after me.

Last night was being at a park and seeing a satellite fall from be sky with a fighter jet tailing it. Assumed it was a controlled fall, but the jet just smashed into the ground after it, then a load of planes, objects etc just started falling out of the sky. Though the planes were moving really erratically, like the pilot had some control but it wasn’t working correctly. Ran back to my family to find my wife and daughter at home, unaware. We drive away to find my sister and find a basement to then see a load of missiles, essentially carpet bombing the ground. We decide to leave the country, so drive away again but as we’re going we all begin to feel light headed and relaxed. I then see people lying down in the street, so realise a gas must have also been released. So run to the car, drive to a rural part of the country and stay there.

Suffice to say, once I woke up, it was very much a ‘fuck that!’ moment.

I helped my friends paint their house, and that was so complicated. She wanted stripes in certain areas, and I've never been good at painting.

I’m both awful and impatient when it comes to painting. I’m a little bit happy that our house needs a fair bit of repair work soon because it means I don’t have to redecorate our downstairs and only need to paint upstairs white (with maybe a father wall in a few bedrooms).

Likely playing Hell Divers 2 this evening. Tomorrow, it Banishers time! :sun:

I had zero interest in Helldivers 2 until basically every journalist has ben going nuts over it and now I’m sorely tempted.

Nice. Never played that one, but I was feeling in the mood for some Middle Earth action the other day so I downloaded Shadow of War. I loved Shadow of Mordor when it came out, no idea why I skipped the sequel.

It had a horrible reputation for being pay to win at launch…that’s continually pushed it down the play list since it released, despite loving Tolkien and the first game.

If I choose to go back into working for the state it would change nothing in how things are because I officially pulled all the money out. It’s mine. Now I need to get with a financial advisor and see where to put it to gain maximum interest.

I’m not going to ask how much you’ve accrued in 16 years, but genuinely interested to know if I can stretch for, I don’t know, 40 years? That’s just why I mentioned returning back to work.

Yea 71 is absurd. I was forced to retire though. I got fired lol.

Will you end up going back into work and stash that into a ‘later in life’ pension, or do you have another plan in mind?

I’m vaguely hoping that if a few circumstances line up and work out well, my wife and I may be able to wrangle an early retirement (aiming for 60) through a bit of property investment, some inheritance bits and bobs, and possibly some actual investing if we ever actually end up with spare cash.

  9. I need to consider how I can arrange to retire early. In the UK, general talk is that state retirement age will be 71! I have a teacher pension that I pay into, and hopefully a state pension will still be a thing…but 71 is just ridiculous. 60 might be more viable.

Nintendo kinda fucked themselves with a potential Mario Kart 9 though. It would have to be pretty damn amazing to get players away from their 50+ tracks in MK8.

Keep the tracks with Nintendo online, have 32 new ones and then some DLC as well. I’d imagine there would be full migration.

  11. I planned on a lie in today but at about 2am my daughter woke up, so had to settle her back down, then at 5am, my dog barked to get let out, then I noticed a puddle of water in my conservatory, which meant I had to go outside into the rain to find out what caused it. In the guttering, a piece of wood or something had fallen and mostly blocked it off, so I’m guessing it chucked it down last night and caused a bit of a mini flood - hence the water. Either that or something more malicious happened, but I won’t know that until the next time it rains heavily and my wall dries out.

Suffice to say, with all that, I was pretty awake, so I played some Ragnarok.

Update: still a bit drizzly out so whilst the little gamer.tv watched the Lion King, I evolved a Magikarp and a Skiploom in Scarlett and also started to level up a 14 Nucli. I don’t like my gras type though so I might see if I caught something worth evolving thy can cover ice types as well.

Here's another vote of confidence in your enjoyment of The Dark Tower series, now that you're through the worst one. :p Wizard and Glass (#4, IIRC)  was one of my favorite books for a long time. I only say "was one of my favorite" because it's been a very long time (15+ years) since I've read it, at this point, but I remember it had a great and very moving story. Enjoy the journey ahead! :sun:

A part of me wants to reread the Dark Tower books as they’re fantastic, but there’s so much new, it can be hard to read old.
