My more reasonable and practical plan I could settle with:

    • Medicare for All
    • Free college education for all
    • Raise social security to a living income
    • Seize pharmaceutical companies, make the employees that actually research and develop medicine employees of the new socialized pharmaceutical administration. Imprison the c-suites of the pharmaceutical companies and anyone with 1% or more shares for life.
    • Make C Corporations illegal
    • Make it illegal for anyone who is not a current or former employee of a business to have ownership in it but only current employees have voting shares
    • Make credit cards and payday lending illegal. Imprison the c-suites of these companies and anyone with 1% or more shares for life.
    • Seize all vacation homes, rental properties, and investment properties and distribute them among the poor who have never owned homes at prices they can reasonably afford with 0% interest loans. Turn former apartments into public housing for the poor that will cost no one more than 1/5 of their monthly income.
    • Seize hotels as needed in urban areas to be converted into full service centers for the homeless that will include on site mental healthcare, rehabilitation, and vocational training.
    • Pull the military out of every foreign country, scale back the military by 75%
    • Ban defense contracting
    • Legalize all drugs, release all drug offenders that don't also have a violent charge from prison
    • Abolish private prisons and seize private prisons as public prisons
    • Put private prison owners, c-suite and controlling interest shareholders of defense contractors, c-suite of every Fortune 500 company, and anyone with more 1% or more shares in a Fortune 500 company in those formerly private prisons for life
    • Abolish ICE, investigate current and former staff, and imprison them for terms ranging from 1 year to life depending on the severity of their human rights offenses
    • Abolish the CIA and DHS, imprison everyone down to interns for life
    • Send every cop who has shot an unarmed person to prison for life
    • Make all street cops have to have a social worker with them in their car or walking a beat with them
    • Make all officer involved shootings an automatic 3 month paid suspension from duty. Upon return they cannot work in a capacity that requires carrying a gun for another 9 months. If upon investigation it is determined they were not either at risk for their life or saving others whose lives were at risk they will be charged with murder
    • Institute a 100% tax on all revenue above $500k/yr for any business whose employees are not unionized unless the business is employee owned
    • Institute a maximum wealth increase per year of $250k/yr per individual. All wealth increase beyond that is taxed at 100%
    • Cap political donations at the equivalent of one week's earnings for the national median income
    • Make NASA great again
    • Literally bury the Koch brothers and the Mercers alive in human shit
    • Have Jeff Bezos publicly beaten to death with bottles full of piss
    • Publicly lodge a Tesla up Elon Musk's ass and launch him into space
    • All toilets will be exclusively cleaned by nerds that send people death threats on social media

Stop. I can only get so erect

    • Implement a negative income tax; reduce other welfare spending as a result
    • Increase the federal minimum wage to $12 and tie it to inflation
    • Merge Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and ACA spending into one entity and allow public enrollment (private insurance can stick around for those who want it)
    • Tax capital gains and dividends as income
    • Institute an estate tax for estates over $2 million dollars
    • Implement universal baby bonds, which fully vest at age 18 and can be used for any purpose; the amount per individual is based on their family AGI at time of birth
    • A marginal tax rate of 45% for incomes over $1 million
    • Institute a carbon tax
    • Lower the corporate tax rate to 20%
    • Legalize and regulate marijuana
    • Legalize and regulate prostiution
    • Declare sexual orientation as a fully protected class
    • Ban all semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines
    • Destroy Carthage

Lol dropping the corporate rate 1 percentage point makes the list?

I am trying to figure out the nicknames we can give Senators for selling out Roe.

I get a feeling Collins might be more susceptible to shame on this one, but Coathanger Connelly sounds better alliteratively.

Back Alley Murkowski is also a possibility, but I think we can do better.

Collins: Won't support SCOTUS pick hostile to abortion rights

From a marketing perspective, however, I don't think adopting the 'socialist' moniker helps the (American social democratic) Left, or any other group in American politics really.

By using the label of 'socialism', they allow their critics to invoke Mao, Stalin, Chavez and Venezuela, etc.  Basically the totalitarianism of the state-run command economy.

I think they would be better off selling their program as a more 'humane' form of capitalism, or--better yet--reclaim the term 'Free Market'.  After all, when Adam Smith and the classical economists talked about 'free markets' they meant markets free from the rentier class--markets in which prices would be brought in line with the actual cost of production, rather than artifically inflated by the parasitic, unproductive costs of interest on predatory lending, monopoly rent and land rent.

Since the right has largely become the defenders of the rentier class, and perverted the term 'Free Market' to mean a market free for rent extraction and stacked against labor and industry, the (American social democratic) left has room to bring the term back to its original sense and use it as a marketing tool.

Playing no true Scotsman on the  term "free market" doesn't seem like a winner to me. Especially when the prevailing definition of free market is what we have now, and it's a fucking wreck. You'd be fighting an uphill battle from the start.

And sorry but most third way Democrats are shit. Incremental change is fine, but things are getting to the point in the cost of healthcare, housing, education, the climate and more than incremental change just isn't going to cut it. I don't want a government full of DSA members but we need more of them that's for damn sure. Like our own version of the Canadian NDP
