the rise and spread of anti vaccination propaganda through social media, driven by the need for ever increasing engagement numbers, lies on the hands of zuck and dorsey and others. I'd wager many of the nurses and hospital staff have fallen in with the antivaxx junk through social media.

Further, there's a direct line between conservative attacks on the government and neoliberal austerity that has undermined trust in government so this is just a perfect storm of wonderful

maybe unrestrained free speech isn’t really a great thing

WHY THE FUCK WOULDN"T THEY ARRANGE APPOINTMENTS!?! Or, do what Israel is doing, and allow drive-thru vaccinations instead to minimize risk.

In the end I think that both the US and Canada are going to have more than enough doses to vaccinate the entire population by mid-summer...and both countries aren't going to be even close to being done, because the states/provinces are handling it instead of the federal governments.

WHY do we suck so much

Pretty much no one in Russia really supports Putin...he's like background noise to most Russians....he's familiar and there's really no one better..or..that much better.  He hasn't completely run the country into the ground and has somewhat joined Russians in a national identity.

Russia..Like the US has a sort of Boomer Generation that won't get out of the way and let younger leaders lead...and a lot of this spy stuff comes form that generation who venerated the power of the KGB....but as stated...these old men have lost quite  few steps...and aren't as capable as they were in their younger days.

The Russian Militray has pulled off some good Cyber Warfare stuff, but a lot of that is not neccessarily how good they are, but how terribly bad and cheap our private companies are in protecting assets.  I mean...when OPM got hacked like 8 years ago....it wasn't because of sophistication..it was because the systems there were running old software on old hardware.

Oh okay I was mistaken then I thought I remembered you saying a few years ago that your wife generally argues in support of Putin when people start criticizing him.

I've been told that the people carrying out these types of things are getting elderly and that's why the work is sloppy..as in the people in charge.

What’s your wife’s opinion on everything in Russia? Does she still support Putin? I’m always interested in what people outside of my bubble think on topics like this.

This is not the plan right now. We are going to sit on 20 million doses as thousands of people die each day instead.

Is that what's going to happen? Based on Gottlieb's phrasing when he said 20 million it sure sounded (to me, anyway) like he wasn't referring to concrete numbers but was just throwing out a hypothetical. Also in the video you included, there was an infographic that specifically referred to "2.9 million doses beginning to ship" after FDA approval, not 40 million (or 20 million).

Well I've been eyeing a Mate 20X for some time now but glad I didn't get it. Hopefully more countries ban Huawei in response to this. China is full on Nazi Germany now and I am worried the world will do nothing about it until WWIII begins.

    LOL. Consent manufactured.

The only way “WWIII begins” is if enough people are manipulated into thinking “China is Nazi Germany” and start pushing for hostile measures to be taken. Like I dunno maybe you haven’t been paying attention to geopolitics over the past 25 years but there’s one country that’s constantly picking fights and starting wars, and it’s not China.

I'm in the same age group, my point is simply that song or more specifically the video for that song is/was not ubiquitous. You basically had to be a teenager in the the year 2000 who watched a fair bit of MTV to get the joke, but then also it just wasn't funny.

I mean, it's not like the people who heard the song Stan, but never saw the video, would've just been sitting through the whole skit thinking to themselves "geeze, this is flying over my head because although this song sounds familiar, I have no visual reference to place this with!"

Fair enough if you didn't think it was funny, but I liked it.
