All of my food takes are hot takes.

Not sure if this will be a hot take, but Popeyes has the best fries. They only fry that can be better is Five Guys if you get them fresh and they are still crispy. Five Guys fries can turn bad faster than a McDonald's fry if you don't get a good batch.

Also avocado and hummus sucks. I don't mean combined, but just in general. Prolly suck combined too tho.

As far as fast food goes, I usually eat my fries first. Fries have a very short time frame of when they are good, meanwhile I can let the burger or whatever sit for a little bit and still tastes just as good.

That's why I have Lasagna. Turkey is not good. At least the way the average American makes a thanksgiving turkey makes it taste bland and boring so you cover it in gravy. And I have only had thanksgiving turkey. Tried it as a kid and didn't care for it, and I tried it as an adult and have no desire to ever eat turkey. Just give me a fucking chicken.

I cannot stand turkey anymore. I advocate for a small ham on Thanksgiving for this reason.

Any thoughts on Ori 2?  I'm second guessing if it's worth it now, or if I should just wait for a later cheaper sale.  Because I've got a few other Metroidvania's to play in the meanwhile (Guacamelee, Axiom Verge, Symphony of the Night).

I might get Nier Automata if not.  Reading that mods mostly fix its PC woes.  Or maybe FFXV?

I enjoyed Ori more than Axiom Verge. I haven't played Guacamelee though. $15 seems like a steal.

I had no issues running Nier, but yeah the mod should fix anything that comes your way.

  3. Enter Shikari - Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible

Notable Songs: Satellites, Dreamers Hotel, Crossing the Rubicon

I really feel Enter Shikari hit their stride with this album. Granted there are some songs on this album that I will never even attempt to listen to again, but so many good, catchy songs that I found myself listening to on repeat throughout the year.

Machine Gun Kelly - Tickets to My Downfall

Notable Songs: Forget Me Too, Bloody Valentine, My Ex's Best Friend

I was not digging this album at all when it first came out, but once I finally sat down and listened to it, took me straight back to Jr High. Back when stuff like Good Charlotte and Green Day was everywhere. I found myself enjoying the album more and more the more I listen to it.

Bring Me the Horizon - Post Human: Survival Horror

Notable Songs: Dear Diary, Kingslayer, Teardrops

Half of this EP came out as singles well before the album was put together. Ludens was for Death Stranding, Obey and Parasite Eve came out months in advance of the album. While I wasn't huge on those songs Dear Diary, Kingslayer, and Teardrops were pretty solid songs. Kingslayer in particular was stuck in my head for a long time. Its so hard to not sing along with babymetal. Plus Mick Gordon produced parts of the album and you can definitely tell the influence.

    System96 - Memories

If you need a solid synthwave album to listen to while cruising look no further.

    Notable Songs: Emerald, Unbound

Singles List (because good songs shouldn't be ignored):

    Caleborate - Clicquot Shower

    System96 - Dream

Project AER, WYS - After Sunset (technically on a compilation album)

  4. I can't really pin anything down that would surprise me with the amount of time I put in.

All of my high time games are for the most part expected, unless you count amnesia where I have some ridiculous time spent. I think it was from a friend not quitting the game and it stayed on for a few days. From memory though I spent a good chuck of time playing Battlefield 3 back in the day, which is surprising because I'm not huge on modern combat games. I also got all the achievements for Battlefield 1943, man I miss that game.

Carls Jr. has the worst fries. Get animal style fries and you'll have no complaints (other than being one of those guys that complains they have to get them animal style to be good) or just ask for them to be well done.

Also, ask for grilled onions on the burger.

BK has worse fries than Carls Jr imo, especially if you get the waffle fries.

Plus BK doesn't have fry sauce in Utah (a must have) at least around me.

  6. Not sure I could name the absolute worst.

I don't understand the hype for In n Out, has lines that are just not worth the wait because there is always 20 cars in line.

I really don't like Wendy's burgers all that much, I don't know if its the bun, the burger, or what.

Burger King is super mediocre, but I wouldn't list it among the worst I've had.

There isn't a jack in the box in Utah so I can't comment on how bad it is.

Unpopular opinion, but a double cheese and hot n spicy is like my go to meal when I'm trying to get something quick. I don't mind McDonalds at all.

  7. I've started Hollow Knight for the 5th time due to a friend playing through it and wanting to talk with someone about it.

Also picked up Pathless on EGS with the $10 coupon. Reminds me of Ico honestly. Camera and aiming takes adjusting to, but its got a solid soundtrack and a good atmosphere.

  8. I guess this kind of correlates to the last thing said in here, but one of my buddies linked me a video/podcast with Max. I guess it’s not much of a theory anymore, but basically the game isn’t a remake at all, it’s a sequel. It’s Sephiroth trying to “remake” the games events in a way that favors him. Not a remake in a sense that they are remaking the original game. Thought it was interesting to think about it that way.

Doesn’t really make me feel any better about the ending or the fact that we aren’t/won’t get a faithful remaster/remake of the original game. It does make the future for the series seem slightly better I guess?

If the game has zero hooks in you then maybe it's just not the game for you. That said, if the gunplay is a major hangup for you, and if you think you would be more interested in the game if the gunplay felt better, then I would suggest you keep playing because it gets good pretty quickly. I haven't played Destiny 2, but I doubt the gunplay in Cyberpunk quite reaches the level of leading dedicated FPSs. What makes the gunplay in Cyberpunk feel great compared to other RPGs is a combination of the sound design of many of the guns, the impact of your shots, the dismemberment, the weapon variety, and most notably the way your character interacts with cover and the environment. The shooting in this game really puts other RPGs and even some FPSs (Looking at you Wolfenstein) to shame. I've been surprised at how enjoyable the combat is in this game given that I wasn't sold on it from pre-release footage and how bland the combat was in the Witcher series. I think everyone in this thread who has gotten past Act 1 is on pretty much the same page as me regarding the shooting.

I feel like this got blown out of proportion. I simply stated that its doing nothing special at this point and feels sub-par to many other FPS games on the market.

I don't hate the game, I just am struggling with pushing myself to get to the good stuff. I, like Legend, have put down games only to come back and appreciate them a whole heck of a lot more after the fact. This might just be one of those games.

I feel that more could be done to combat the early game lull in RPGs. Give the player a cool gun up front and have it taken away or not able to upgrade so I have to use other guns. Have a big plot development upfront, dangle a carrot in front of my face so that I want to chase it. Right now I feel like I have to find the carrot in the first place. I'll chug through another couple hours and if nothing sticks I probably will give it up.

    Yikes...

    good reply.
Destiny’s core mechanics are better than 99% of any shooter outside of high competitive e-sports titles. Granted they don’t get super crazy mechanically or do anything special, but that foundation goes a long way.

I think asking how it differentiates itself *in the early game* isn't really a helpful question, because by design the main thing that differentiates itself depends on building up your character.

I mean, most of those games in their early game don't really differentiate from each other either. Even Doom opens up the more you play and unlock and otherwise is superficially similar to other shooters at the start.

The core early game core shooting is, however, much better than Fallout and Deus Ex, however (and I love Deus Ex, FWIW)

It’s a fair assessment, I’m just a frustrated player who isn’t having a good time yet. I get that RPGs take time to develop, but with nothing to make me want to play the game it’s hard to keep coming back.

Its an rpg first, a shooter second.

People can compare it to FO if you’re saying its an extremely refined fallout.

I mean, when someone says the shooting is bad, it does seem like they are playing a different game. The combat is so smooth.

im guessing those of us who love it are maybe playing with higher end hardware.

Again it’s not bad, it’s just not special or standing out far enough from the crowd. What does the early game do to differentiate it from Borderlands, Fallout, Far Cry, Bioshock, Deus Ex, Stalker, Alpha Protocol, Prey, or even my gold standard of Destiny?
