I've worked the American hard-worker fantasy of 70 hour weeks doing demo on a construction site and years later did the 70 hour behind-a-screen weeks people on site like to scoff at. In my experience, neither is nobler than the other, healthy, good and anything but exploitation from your sleazy employer making his wallet fatter off you.

That overtime you're getting while working yourself into an early grave was sucked out of your base pay to begin with. The base pay you can't afford basic 1st world shit with like sending your kid to a school to learn more than Wal-Mart cashier skills. 

I'm not saying any of this with some agenda or politics in mind even but having been at the receiving end of a boot kicking my face work-wise for a decade-and-a-half already, I can't fathom anyone ever siding with this type of system. There are bigger and smaller injustices, sure, but the system at its very core is rotten as fuck no matter what type of work. 

I've never done it but I can't imagine how soul-crushing 100 hours behind a fucking computer per week must be, no matter what you're doing at it.

To clarify, I'm actually interested in it but feel like I've been subjected to quite a string of not-too-hot cinema experiences as of late. I'm not sure I can stomach yet another mediocre flick without walking out. 

This looks great, I'll be buying it. The DigitalFoundry 'review' specifically sold me on it actually. That's the kind of level and challenge design I truly appreciate and love to replay. 

I'm not saying that I only watched several episodes of Penny Dreadful because I couldn't stop staring at her...but I did.

Personally, I would've really liked to have seen Christopher Walken as Geralt. 

I'm a massive fan of the book and am hoping that this time around they can at least capture a little tiny bit of its harrowing menace. The trailer in itself looks alright I think but I assume it'll be missing one of the harshest sequences like the first film.

A truly brutal book in terms of dread and the pervasive feeling of personal loss. 

I wish I had time and/or energy for a monster-mega-power-epic sized game like this but alas, it's not gonna happen. 

It truly looks fucking awesome and I've never even played the first one. I'd be breaking the store's doors down if this were something similar in structure to Red Dead Revolver but this looks overwhelmingly huge.

I only watched a few seconds, but Claire's movement seemed really light and janky. The original footage with Leon made it look like the movement was much slower and heavier. Not quite tank controls but just much more.. deliberate. Like how the guy moved relatively slow in RE7.

I'm willing to bet that the "Western culture is superior" zealots wouldn't be singing that same tune if they were truly honest with themselves in a situation where Islamic culture -- no matter how repressive -- had somehow managed to attain the identical achievements far ahead of the "secular" West if history had played out differently.  If the first man on the moon planted the Islamic crescent flag, if Islamic scientists had made the first advancements in medicine, genetics, etc.  Every single Western civilization chauvinist would probably be rushing to throw the West's women into burqas, outlaw alcohol, etc. 

 

Hell, if the Mongol Horde had turned further west instead of due south, this is exactly what would've happened.  One culture's "superiority" over any other is largely an accident of history.  Don't put too much -- or any -- stock in it.
