I don't remember it ever being framed as a be all end all, immunologists always thought annual boosters would be required because of variant spread.
End of the day imo it will end up similarly to the annual flu with a lot of people opting not to get the boosters.
Tbh before covid I wouldn't get flu vaccines every year. Now I will and also get boosters.
As time goes on things will get more and more "normal" so to speak with COVID, but I do think it will have had the effect of actually increasing flu vaccines overall, some people continuing to use masks at crowded events, and more people overall being more conscious about trying not to get themselves/others sick
