The change is a needed change, but I think that most people should wait for the .7nm reworks to come in 2019, which will probably also half the price and increase general game performance more than this one will do (obviously, we don't have benchmarks yet).

I know in my case, as I own a 1080Ti, I do not need this card in any way shape or form, yet and the hit from RayTracing being bolted on is too much (today).

On the flip side, we are looking at a few years before RayTracing really matters and we need console adoption first, something I do not think we are going to see with PS5 and Xbox Next.

Do we have any evidence that NVidia will use 7nm for gaming GPUs in 2019?

  2. I had heard that Onrush completely failed to sell at all (heard something in the order of 1,000 UK physical sales in the first week).  Putting it in GamePass was clearly an attempt to recoup some revenue.

This is great for Onrush. It's a fun car combat game with objectives. Definitely recommend giving it a go and because of game pass there's no reason not to.

It does require that you purchase Game Pass.

How are you guys liking game pass? Think I may finally have to bite the bullet and subscribe to it. How much is it a month?

    $10/month

MCC was left out because of the steaming pile of garbage it ran like. It was actually a good move by MS to leave it out.

Now that it has a patch it runs a little less like garbage, but supposedly more patches coming soon.

So it was OK to sell for $60 a couple of years ago, but not good enough to give a way for free in their subscription service?

It’s refurbished by ASUS, so it’s probably more reliable than a new unit. :p

And yes, there’s a 30-day return policy and full manufacturer warranty.

I buy tons of refurbished stuff -- but haven't been willing to touch anything with a screen on it (as I have had friends burned by it) -- I suspect many are returned because of dead/stuck pixels.  Asus refurbishing them, will not fix those dead pixels -- most monitor manufacturers see a couple of  dead pixels as "normal".

  5. Inside Battlefield 5: GeForce RTX's most impressive ray tracing showcase

"It's also important to remember that this is just the beginning and given tools as powerful as Turing's ray tracing technology, DICE is looking towards a future of rich possibilities. For example, the team mentioned experimenting with ray traced ambient occlusion and even the very novel idea of using the BVH structure for GPU particles - meaning that those particles would have perfect placement in the world regardless of the camera location, which could allow for the acceleration of unique effects never seen before in games. But the big deal here overall is that instead of approximating or faking very important real-time effects in their titles, DICE now has access to realistic reflections along with associated behaviours that are a natural fallout from the ray tracing itself. But equally, RTX on Battlefield 5 right now is still very much first generation work - in effect, the ray tracing toolbox has only just been opened. However, with results as impressive as this appearing out of the gate, I'm really enthusiastic about the technology, even though this is just the beginning. The future's looking bright - and exceptionally shiny."

and they will continue to sell the software, just not a disc version. As I mentioned, this is actually better for them. Takes us a lot less space and leaves them more room for other shit to tell.

Why would you buy a card from Amazon, enter a 12 digit code on your console, when you can just click buy on your console?

It's pretty cool. A lot different from Hotline Miami though. It's more of like an overhead max payne with warping. :p

I agree that it has some different gameplay mechanics -- the teleporting, and having primarily melee combat.  But, to me, it still feels like Hotline Miami was their primary inspiration.

That said, I am enjoying it quite a bit, probably about 80% of the way through.  However, I just wish the hired a better writer (the dialog is cringe worthy), hired some voice actors, and spent more time polishing it (difficulty spikes, crashes to desktop, etc.)
