    I watched the first 2 episodes last night and it was a hit of nostalgia. Some of the voices sound older but still great to hear. The animation works out better than I thought with the more classic early season look, and not the weird crappy shitty animated stuff by the last original season. As for X-Men going woke, well “News Flash” folks. The series has always been a parallel line to being gay/different but still looking for acceptance in society. Plus it does a great job of just continuing/expanding the story from the original series. Wonder if they’ll get a cameo again from our 90’s Spider-Man, or Captain America from that Logan flashback episode 

     

     

    Oh, at least on Disney+ Canada. They had the first season up for Spectacular Spider-man again :) 

    Should I buy a new car next week or a used one?

    First car I ever bought was used and I spent $11k for the car and the same in repairs. Once I got it paid off, I traded in for $250 (Chrysler Cirrus 2000, 123,000km) Bought new a 2008 Escape because I was covered bumper to bumper for 5 years or 80k/km, and had a battery die within 2 years. Also got rear ended good for a total of, well, my first car. Traded in for $2500 (damage was completely repaired at their fault, but would be on car fax) Anyways I went and got the 2013 Escape redesign. Engine had to be completely replaced because of an oil leak issue into the main engine itself. So it was sent back to Detroit, new engine free, and got rear ended again ($6k damage) Ever since then I’ve switched to leasing, because I get the latest safety tech included and I’m covered again because I don’t drive much, well anymore since I left Pepsi. So long winded story, I say lease new and know that your covered for almost anything that goes wrong with the vehicle. I’m currently in 2022 Ford Bronco Sport (Outer Banks Edition) It’s boxier then my ‘16, and ‘00 Escapes, and more like the ‘08 Escape (which I kinda like)  Also like that the whole backing of my back seats and trunk have a rubber mat attached to them. Very handy when set flat for the dogs, and my newest guy has car sickness a lot.  No idea what the cost is down there, but might be worth looking into the Broncos. I have heated front seats, wireless charging, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Sync 3. Plus I got the driver side windows tinted and are a godsend sometimes

    The Mist: 7/10

     

    On occasion I look into the filmography of directors that I've enjoyed previously. Frank Darabont directed The Shawshank Redemption, one of my favorite films, so I wanted to see what else he had done. The last movie he directed was was The Mist so the several months I had been looking for ways to watch it. It was on Amazon for around $3 or something during the holidays but I passed for one reason or another. This month fortunately and randomly The Mist appeared as a free game pass perk. So by being interested and missing out I somehow ended up with what I wanted at no extra cost. :o

     

    As for the movie it is alright. The Mist is based on a Stephen King novel. Darabont is another director that has double (triple) dipped into the Stephen King sauce. It follows David Drayton (Thomas Jane) a movie poster artist in Maine. He is inconvenienced by a huge storm that knocks a tree through his front window and let's not forget his neighbor Mr. Norton's tree that destroys his boathouse. So David takes his son Billy and his neighbor to the grocery stores to get supplies until a large mist rolls in behind a frightened bloody dude who claims his friends disappeared in it. So the film becomes one of those "people are trapped inside" type of movies along with factions being formed between sane people and religious fanatics. I think it's enjoyable if not a bit uneven. It starts off a bit shaky but once the tension ramps up things get a bit interesting. The characterization of some people don't seem too far fetched, especially now in 2024, it's more depressing how accurate it is. I also didn't quite enjoy the ending. Maybe I've seen too many twist endings but you just felt something like that was going to happen and at the same time it felt pretty needless. Surviving through everything just to throw your hands up in the air and say, "well this is it I guess." didn't seem right.


    I remember seeing the trailer for the film and so I bought/read the book. Probably should have done in reverse because it always seem hard to top the book for a movie adaptation. It’s not bad but I liked the tension building in the book better (more people and monsters being monsters) Plus I know everyone pretty much liked the new ending for the movie but I preferred the book ending. Even SK liked the movie ending more than his

    The rift doesn’t get sealed and basically encompasses the globe from the sounds of it. Father and son now carefully drive around and shelter in abandoned hotels. Hoping that the world will be alright again, while monsters walk the forests and make noises at night while they try to sleep. Haven’t seen it in Black and White

    First off, get yourself high before you consume a movie full of dicks. I mean it, the movie is dick focused for the guys. I like the montage of early stunt attempts to doing them now being older. Fuck does that bull make Johnny fucking fly and the slow-mob impact is painful (especially from a wrist guy myself perspective) It’s also a little uneven in pacing as all the real great stuff and the small gags. Their opening “Silence of the Lambs” gag is fucking historical and probably gave a few newbies PTSD. They have a lot of newbies and they almost seemed to be handing the torch for them as well, cause they take a good brunt of the punishment. How most of these guys are still alive or at least walking, is sometimes beyond me. Still it’s a fun watch with like minded friends and I wouldn’t be surprised if a fifth doesn’t happen either in 5-7 years it seems. 

    Is Nope worth a watch?

    I really liked Get Out, haven’t seen Us(own), but I enjoyed Nope. The movie has a few scenes that I don’t think were really needed but did help you understand/feel for some characters. Plus I really dug the look of everything and liked the opened up IMAX scenes being included on the 4K disc at least. The sound design is amazing/intense/creepy for especially a few scenes if you have the setup (creepier with Atmos) I say it’s worth a viewing at least and could probably see myself enjoying this more on a 2nd viewing.

    Show continues to be good though.


    Canadian viewers had Amazon’s quick “after this ad. Your show will be seen commercial free thanks to McDonald’s Canada” Then got the McD’a full anime 30sec ad and was good from there.

    You would think with probably an older user base that watches nothing but Fox News. I think the article above even mentioned that mail-in benefitted the republicans greater than it does for democrats. Covid changed that, Trump railed against it and is pretty much doing it again with Covid now the common flu.

    I was thinking about her numbers last night and was wondering if most were Early Voting or mail-ins before she dropped out. Unless they don’t do that for these events
