I just played through "Black" on my Series X.  Still holds up.

So the first two episodes of eight dropped last Tuesday, I finally got around to seeing them and man is it nice to have Timothy Olyphant back as Raylan Givens. So many of the creative team from the original show are back doing this limited series (or, if it does well, hopefully we get more seasons) so it's like nothing's changed even though 8 years have passed, the show is firing on all cylinders. Adding Boyd Holbrook to this world is perfect casting. I was surprised to see no one had posted about it now that the show is out. Anyone else watching?

I've watched the first episode <3

I didn’t know if he was a PC gamer, or not.

You know that I’m the list king. ;) The Xbox and Xbox 360 were a couple of my favorite consoles, I played tons of games during their generations.

I’ve had Control in my backlog for a while now, and you just convinced me to play it sooner rather than later. :]

I am but my PC is old and has just a 970 in it.

I do know that is why I had to troll you a little  Those are my favorite consoles the original Xbox has several of my all time favorite games and got me into online multiplayer games. The 360 generation had a lot of bangers but also Live Arcade which really got me into indie games.

You are going to love Control I took it up a notch today playing with the lights off and my Yamaha Pro 500's hooked up to my mini AMP

Like 85% of those you can get on PC. Blue Dragon is backwards compatible though!

Also I've been looking into getting Enchanted Arms, looks like they just recently took it off of the Xbox store for some reason. Lame.

I had to troll a little there with a list that large 😅

Played some NGB looks great and I forgot how amazing the combat is (and how terrible the camera is )!

Played some Control that game is way more fucked up than I expected <3

I usually hit them first thing in the a.m.  Once people start waking up it's usually jampacked during con.

Still some of the best coffee I've ever had I love that place.

    Remember Guitar Hero? Tony Hawk?

Tony Hawk 1+2 was fairly recently and I believe was successful. I'm certain that is a franchise Microsoft will leverage for Gamepass.

I mean no argument from me. I think CoD is awful and have thought so since MW2 pretty much. I'd happily take an every-other-year approach if I can't get my preferred just-stop-making-it approach.

I've always thought CoD was bad at a fundamental level but I have had fun playing some of them. I think they could do a mainline game every two years and do spinoffs in between.

Hoping for change from new corporate overlords while the old cronies still manage the day to day.  The one positive to come that we know of was Raven unionizing.

Activision has long had the freedom to do things in the way it wants.  They didn't need a buyout to be flush with capital.  And again, its the same people still making the decisions.

I'd love to be wrong.  Perhaps one day I will be.  But then we'll be taking about whatever would-be multiplatform new IP, revived IP or spin-off not coming to Sony and Nintendo platforms.

The main thing Microsoft enables Activision to do is save face on the harassment lawsuits.

Again, Activision has long been in the position to try something different.  Remember Skylanders?

Because they own Call of Duty, WoW and Minecraft now, among others.  Sony sees it as a gap in their portfolio, and they're not wrong.

Skylanders was a thing nearly a decade ago they have not been in the position to try something different in a long time. CoD sells and is what makes their investors happy, they had several flops outside of that and moved all the studios with flops to CoD development. Fortunately we have gotten some Crash games lately but they are way too reliant on CoD currently and how long is that really sustainable?

Binary Domain is excellent and well worth playing through.

PURE was developed by Black Rock Studio, who went on to make Split/Second a couple years later.  I highly recommend finding a copy since you enjoyed Split/Second.  It's a different game, but the same DNA is there.

Geometry Wars 1 is available and is essentially identical to the version in PGR.  Geometry Wars 3 I actually think is very underrated, and it's my favorite.

Yeah I will absolutely get Binary Domain.

I'm not really into ATV games but I will see if I can grab a used copy to try it out at least.

I will have to get 1 and I already have the other Geometry Wars me and @Chairslinger were near the top of the leaderboard on the original GW and I am pretty sure he got really high up on some of the sequels.

Oh, I also picked up Control Ultimate edition since it was on such a steep discount while I already have it on PC from free giveaways my comp can't handle that and I've really been wanting to try that game out.

  11. I picked up:

Ninja Gaiden Black (on the store)
    Blur (NIB)

    Metal Gear Rising (NIB)

    Have an offer out on:

    Too Human (NIB)

Couple things I see are still on the Xbox store and I am waiting for a sale on them.

Also picked up Elden Ring ($40), Scarlet Nexus ($12) and Mass Effect Legendary Edition ($17)

When OG XBOX first came out, it was originally supposed to launch with online play: it was going to be like PC and just “work” based on the devs creating individual clients for their games. There’s early footage and interviews/panels talking about and showing off even Munch’s Odysee having online support. At some point before launching the XBOX, Microsoft must’ve decided to change the plan for online. Blood Wake got absolutely robbed by coming out before XBL, it was definitely meant for online play.

    Wrong thread

Wow this thread is for me, as these games are pretty much all that I play.  Blood Wake and Outrun 2 are not BC - I see both of those mentioned.  From my perspective the most essential BC games, and those I'm most thankful for are:

    - Panzer Dragoon Orta, which runs at 4k/60, with HDR

    - Jet Set Radio, which is now sadly delisted

    - SSX 3, which runs at 4k/60, with HDR

    - Ninja Gaiden Black, 4k/60

    - NiGHTS into Dreams, with HDR

    - Hydro Thunder Hurricane, which was developed by the creative team behind Blood Wake

    - Max Payne 1 + 2, which are both 4k/60

    - Binary Domain

    - F.E.A.R., 4k/60, disc only

    - PURE, amazing ATV arcade racer, disc only

    - Split/Second

    - Geometry Wars 1-3

    - Left 4 Dead 2

I will take a look at my library shortly and add some more.  The Xbox BC program was pretty amazing.

Binary Domain is a good call that's one I have heard only good things about!

Already have Split/Second easily one of my favorite racing games. Actually if I ever get rich AF I'm starting a game studio and a heavily Split/Second influenced VR racing game will be developed by my team.

Is there any way to play shoot Geomtry Wars  outside of Project Gotham Racing? I absolutely love OG GW not so hot on the sequels.
