    A new housing development outside Phoenix is looking towards European cities for inspiration and shutting out the cars. So far residents love it

     

    I dunno about how I feel about the tech startup vibes of this place, but if the general concept of a neighborhood without cars can get off the ground in Arizona it should be able to get off the ground anywhere.

    I'm on Bluesky (I have 3 invites if somebody needs them btw), and really the only thing preventing me from switching there full time at this point is that Twitter is still genuinely useful for weather, and I don't see a lot of the weather accounts on follow on Bluesky yet, like the region-specific National Weather Service accounts. Twitter really is an absolute cesspool at this point. Every ad I see is for bottom-tier right-wing news sites or crypto scams.

    Today's showing me how much Twitter/X has completely degraded as a source for news. If you click on a trend about this you just get hit with a wall of blue checks saying absolutely vile shit about Ilhan Omar. Maybe if you find every reputable commenter on Bluesky it's a viable option, but it's not there yet for me. I had no idea what was actually going on until I popped on here instead.

    but I have heard the theory that celebs put these names out there as red herrings so their kids could have somewhat normal lives when they get older

    I could buy that that's true for a lot of celebs, but as far as Elon goes, remember that the Tesla models are S, 3, X, and Y because they spell out "S3XY"
