This why this shit he's doing at Twitter is going to damage everything he's a part of across the board. If this happens at any other company they can find a couple of scapegoats to fire and run damage control, but when this is happening at the same time Elon is changing the Twitter logo to the Doge dog for the lolz then it's just like "well, yeah, this company is run by a man-child who's probably perving on people in his spare time"

Runoff election was today. Vallas has an early lead, but it sounds like nobody knows what parts of the city have been counted yet. Saw something earlier today suggesting that the youth vote was turning out more than in the February election.

There's also a special election that would give Republicans a supermajority in the state senate, and some Republican Senators have already floated the idea of immediately impeaching Protasiewiczif she wins

Supposedly when they did a stunt where Vince McMahon's limo was seemingly blown up with him inside, Trump called WWE's offices to ask if Vince was okay, so as far as Trump was concerned that might've been a real punch

Saw it last night after my wife expressed an unanticipated interest. It's fine. It's pretty fun, light, and has just enough heart without totally overdoing it. It's by no means exceptional, but if they make a sequel I'd see it. Exactly the kind of movie that I have an A-List subscription for.
This is about right. I don't think any part of it is great, but it's consistently fun. There's a few points where it's almost too jokey to where it undercuts the stakes too much, but it toes the line pretty well. And they got some fun references in without being completely alienating for people who don't play D&D.

They set up the possibility of a direct sequel, and big reason why the runtime is 2:14 is there's multiple flashbacks setting up backstory of the dude who would be the villain in the next one, and they probably could have just saved some of that for the hypothetical next movie.

So have all of the leaks about the grand jury just been wildly wrong this entire time? Supposedly they weren't going to meet again for another month, and supposedly the possible indictments were going to be narrowly related to the Stormy Daniels hush money stuff, and it sounds like neither of those two things was actually true?

There was a thread on the forbidden site a while back where a doctor found out that a doctor working for one of these insurance boards used to be a surgeon until he put in somebody's hip replacement completely backwards.

Abortion bans in Wyoming and Ohio are getting blocked by judges because of language Republicans put in their state constitutions about "individual health care rights" after the ACA got passed.
How Attacks Against Obamacare Turned Into Tools to Protect Abortion Access | Bolts
BOLTSMAG.ORGConservatives amended state constitutions to affirm broad rights for people to choose their health care. Now abortion rights proponents are taking them at their word.- 3

Regulators close New York's Signature Bank, citing systemic risk
WWW.CNBC.COMU.S. regulators on Sunday shut down New York-based Signature Bank in a bid to prevent the spreading banking crisis.Another one.
I looked up futures for the markets and it looks like they're all up, so it doesn't seem like there's any real concern that there's going to be a snowball effect

Well, so this bill would have lowered the maximum penalty for carjacking from 40 years to 24, but would've increased the penalty for attempted murder from 5 to 22.5 years (5th paragraph from the bottom in the Slate article). If we're gonna say that long sentences have a meaningful effect on deterring crime, which one of those is going to have more of an impact?
-
Some more info here. The reform bill actually would've increased the penalties for some gun crimes, including attempted murder, but apparently that doesn't count as "tough on crime"
Why Biden Stabbed D.C. in the Back
SLATE.COMD.C.’s 700,000 residents have no senator to lobby against the bill. We can only plead, like subjects of a colony. -
Remember how much flack AOC got for opposing this in NY?

Biden tells Democratic senators he won't veto effort to rescind DC crime law | CNN Politics
WWW.CNN.COMPresident Joe Biden surprised Democratic senators Thursday when he told them that he won't veto GOP-led legislation to rescind a controversial Washington, DC, crime law, a move that comes Democrats are divided over the contentious issue and Republicans are aggressively accusing them of being soft on crime.I've been reading about this today, and my god is this shit cowardly. It passed the DC City Council with a 12-1 vote, and now congress is going to sweep in and override that. And somehow it's able to pass the Senate with 50 votes instead of 60 in another example of how completely arcane and arbitrary the rules around the filibuster are.
Anyway, what seems to be spooking BIden and other Dems into supporting this is that part of the bill lowers the penalties for carjacking, but in actually what it's doing is lowering the maximum possible sentence from 40 years to 24 years, and *under the existing law* judges already weren't actually sentencing people to as long as 24 years.

Within minutes of each other this afternoon, separate judges released rulings on mifepristone, the abortion drug. One banning it and one requiring the FDA to continue allowing it. So I guess the abortion pill now exists within some sort of a quantum realm.
