AbsolutSurgen
Brian Mulroney, one of Canada's most consequential prime ministers, is dead at 84 | CBC News WWW.CBC.CA Brian Mulroney — who, as Canada's 18th prime minister, steered the country through a tumultuous period in national and world affairs but left office deeply unpopular — has died. He was 84. His legacy will include free trade with the US, the modernization of Canada's sales tax regime, and splitting with the US and UK to push for the end of apartheid in South Africa. CitizenVectron
Compared to conservatives today he was very moderate (and I'll give him big credit for standing up to apartheid), but was Reagan lite for Canada. A statesman, but not a good prime minister. There's a reason he went from the greatest majority in history to the destruction and elimination of his entire party. CitizenVectron
For the record, the greatest PM in history is likely either Lester B. Pearson or Pierre Trudeau.
