Mmm, online mode on Switch is just soooo….amazing.

Where the hell does he think he’s going.

I don't need instant gratification, but 40 seconds between character selection and the round starting is quite a bit. I have spent a decent amount of time with MK 11 on switch, but I'll probably pass on this.
I can confirm the load times are annoying in this game. Switch version, anyway. Especially towards the end of the Story Mode. -

@GameDadGrant won't get to experience the wonderful Switch version now
I will miss out on the absolute dumpster fire it would have been. Not unlike the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1.
What a wonderfully god awful train wreck that version is. LOL

There isn't a lot I'm NOT buying.
Sometimes I feel I'm single-handedly keeping my local GameStop in business.

I've played through an hour or so of the story mode. It's really solid, and I'm enjoying everything about it so far.
I'm playing it on Switch (!) so it's kinda funny going from the story's FMV sequences which are absolutely gorgeous, to the real-time graphics. Which are...I mean, for the system it's on? Actually pretty damn good. But yeah, a HUGE step down...obviously. But that's the price one has to pay for portability, I suppose. (I wonder how the Steam Deck version is?)
Makes for some unintentional humor, haha.

I was just wondering what the heck Vanillaware was up to.

I go back and forth between it and Super Mario RPG. I love TTYD's slight-Metroidvania approach, and how bonkers it gets by the end. The Cave of 100 trails as well is one of the best optional challenges in a Nintendo game. But Super Mario RPG wins in the hidden easter eggs and secrets department.
The Top 3 best Mario RPG games are:
Superstar Saga
Thousand Year Door
Legend of the Seven Stars
In that order. (IMO)

Looking forward to Contra the new amiibo, and Prince of Persia. Looking forward to the Princess Peach game, too.
Good Mario remakes, as well.

Just downloaded this a day or two ago. Pretty good stuff. Great music. Very fun battle system. Kinda long-ish intro (that’s a bit verbose). Cool retro-inspired graphics.
Chrono Trigger, Lufia II and Golden Sun vibes out the wazoo.

You mean the intro mission where if you die, you have to start all over from the beginning?
Yeah, that sucks. Like...really, really, really sucks.

Playstation Portal...only playable on Wi-Fi...pfft. This is the dumbest, stupidest thing Sony has ever manufactured and only an idiot would pay $200 for it.

Played a bit of this co-op with my kid. Fun times were had. They weren't kidding that the game is slow, but...still fun.

So many of the puzzles, secrets and jumping challenges are derived from the isometric perspective. It’d lose something in translation. Besides, when’s the last time you played an isometric RPG?This is definitely a game I feel should be kept largely the same, structurally, as a remake.
That’s fair. I’m just saying…if they are going to remake this game? Remake it. Don’t just give us a prettier version of a game that already exists.
But it’s a stone-cold classic, so not changing it works perfectly well. And it’s good for new players.

I feel the Super Mario RPG remake isn’t much a departure from the SNES original. The cutscenes may be more cinematic, (and maybe some of the attacks?) but the gameplay looks largely unchanged. Even the top-down isometric perspective is kept intact. Why not make it fully 3D?
Still looking forward to it. And the remastered soundtrack. I know everyone loves the forest theme, but for me? Nothing beats that underground theme.

I don’t know how they could possibly top the original.
The new stuff they added to the DS version didn’t do much for me. I mean, it was cool to have more game to play, but it is 100% fine without it.

Every. Single. Day. If even for only 5 minutes or something. I'll still count it.

Per-ordered. For Switch.
Finally get to play Mortal Kombat 1 with blood on Nintendo hardware. What a time to be alive!

It’s gonna be weird learning how to play as my boy Ken again.

Link’s Awakening.
The Game Boy version. Not the remakes it had.

Skies of Arcadia sequel.
YES.
Or a remake/remaster. Cel-shaded, perhaps? I dunno. Regardless, that is what I clicked on the thread to post, so I'm glad someone else mentioned it before me!
What are you playing today?
