  1. I’m playing at “Normal” or whatever the difficulty is called just above “Story.” It’s been a smooth ride so far.

And yeah, I’m assuming Josef doesn’t stay in your party forever, or the other characters and enemies level up to him so he’s not OP throughout the game. Best to level up everyone as much as possible.

Given that concurrent users on day after launch is under 200 players, it seems to suggest there aren't a whole lot of people buying it at the present price.

I'm in no hurry to buy it given the reviews.

    That’s cool.

That’s not many people playing it, but that’s also just Steam. I wonder what the numbers are for other platforms.

Regardless, plenty of other games to play while waiting for a price drop or sale. :)

It's on sale for C$48 (the same price as something like Helldivers 2) and only offers a few hours of gameplay (I've heard ~4), and misses modern features such as online coop.

That sounds like a $20 game.

Launch day's concurrent users on Steam was 242.

That sounds like a Contra game for sure! But I dunno, when modern games sell for $70 (I’m not sure what currency you use) a game launching at $35 (cheaper price Contra 4 launched with back on DS) ain’t a bad deal.

Of course it’s up to the individual to decide what something is worth and what it’s not. I’m sure eventually there will be a sale when the game is $20 or so. Patience may pay off in the end. :peace:

I saw the price on Steam today and laughed.

I don't think it's outrageous. And it's 10% off for early release. Not too shabby.

I didn't laugh, but I did have a flashback of being about 8 years old and beating Contra on the NES for the first time. It was about a day or two after my mom bought it for me, and I was all excited that I beat it so I ran up and told her. Her response was a very annoyed, "Already?!"

    I get it now.

Eh...but Contra is one of those franchises where you can replay the games over and over again. Always fun for a pick-up-and-play, especially with local co-op. Maybe that's just me?

  5. I was confused at first, since I've had this on Switch for years...I misunderstood when I saw the announcement. I had thought this might have been a new release with more games from the series. But it's just the Switch/PC game now on Playstation. Oh well.

This is still good news, since this may give more people the opportunity to play/collect these games that maybe haven't already picked it up/downloaded it.

Are there any differences between the Saturn and PS1 versions of Grandia?

Yeah, but AFAIK, it's nothing too major. The game runs and (allegedly) looks better on Saturn, but that's about it. I don't think there is more content in the game, like the differences between the PSOne and Saturn versions of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

  6. I’ve heard a rumor that the game is developed by GoodFeel, the same team that did Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Yoshi’s Woolly World. Which might explain the difficulty (or lack thereof) and the Kirby-like vibes.

Anyway, the demo was fun. I enjoyed it and my kids both LOVED it. This’ll be a D1P (Day One Purchase).

Like I said earlier. Emulation is not piracy.

You can pirate with just a hack on your console. I think there is a card for the switch you can just stick it in and play any game.

An emulator allows you to play a game you already own on not original hardware.

Anyway this is all rich coming from @GameDadGrant who bought his kid a Wii-U so he could EMULATE Nintendo online and play games on a fake Nintendo network. :talkhand:

Haha to be fair though, he’s playing games we have bought legit, and the fake Nintendo network is the only way to play the OG Splatoon online anymore.

Emulation is not a big deal in my book. Piracy is a different story.

Besides, it’s Wii U. Who cares. LOL 😝

They did attempt to sue them, I’m just making sure it’s clear that they didn’t win any case and that what they did was shitty.

Im not sure what your actual argument is as there are emulators for vita, psp, ps1, ps2, ps3, and even ps4. emulators are starting to make progress.

No argument, just looking for clarification. Which I feel you provided. Thank you.

Sony already lost twice back in the PS1 era.  Precedent is the thing keeping them from doing it again.

Nintendo gets hit with piracy more directly since their consoles are generally easier to emulate.

Twice? I know they took down bleem! back in the day. And the website lik-sang. For...some reason. But if emulation were to cross to Playstation games...Sony would sue, no?

Um, if you explored you would have found a vendor and a place to upgrade weapons exactly near the spot of the horse rider. Lol, I have no idea what you're doing. Also, unlock 3 different sites of grace. You will get a ring to summon a horse that gets you around the world really fast.

You have a really negative thought pattern going into this game which will not help at all. If you truly hate one of the best games ever made just drop it and play a Nintendo Switch game in handheld mode. I'm being sarcastic but you are being ridiculous now.  😄

Haha yeah I have no idea what I'm doing either. :p  I haven't stumbled across this vendor but I'll keep an eye out for them. And I always take time to play a Switch game in handheld mode. F-Zero 99 and Smash Ultimate are on regular rotation. :call:

The first guy you talk to when you get outside is friendly :p

    Okay, fair. You are correct.

  11. Alright, I played a bit more today. I went WAAAAY out of my way to avoid the horseback killer and found…that everyone in this game wants to kill me. Are there no friendly NPCs in this game?! I haven’t even done anything yet, why attack me on sight?

I’ll keep exploring but this game gives off a terrible first vibe. I’m really pushing myself to try enjoy this garbage game.

See, I just had to know how to speak your language. 🫂

I'll be honest, your analogy was terrible and not even remotely the same as my experience with Elden Ring. And as I posted prior, I was going to give the game another shot regardless.

But! I appreciate the thought. And as with all things...it's the thought that counts.

Wow though...imagine if someone gave up on the OG Super Mario Bros. simply because they got KO'd by the first Goomba. Wild. A Goomba is far more easy to avoid than a merciless killer on horseback!

  13. Sounds really good. I'll have to try it myself sometime.

One of the best subs I've had in recent memory was the Italian from Potbelly; I had it on the train from DC while I was stoned out of my mind. Potbelly is like the number one chain I honestly yearn for.

Hell yeah, Potbelly's is awesome. My go-to is "A Wreck" with everything on it. So good.
