  1. The Terminator

From the discussion in the thread about the latest terminator movie I decided to revisit this after at least 20 years. It still holds up, just a great 80s flick. The stop motion of the terminator skeleton and the robo-eye head is sketchy but the animatonric puppet still looks great today. The plot and characters do everything they need to and it all just clicks.

Since no scripts have been written yet when they actually get around to filming this Patrick Stewart will be 79 or maybe even 80 and despite the fact that he has done an amazing job of keeping himself in shape over the years there is no getting around the fact that he is straight up elderly at this point, returning him to the diplomatic role/moral rock that he was in the series vs the quasi-action hero he was in the movies is the absolute right move from both a practical standpoint and storytelling one.

  3. 1) T2>T1

    T1 was a great scifi/action/horror movie

it is no exaggeration at all to say T2 changed cinema, the use of CGI was unprecedented and absolutely mind blowing at the time and the practical effects and stunts are still hard to top even today.

Helicopter work like this will NEVER be filmed in a US produced movie ever again, this is it the absolute apex of this type of stunt work

    2) Mackenzie Davis deserves way better than this, she better be getting paid, if you haven't seen Halt and Catch Fire get on it

  4. The Death of Stalin

I need to read a book on the real version of these events because I'm guessing the movie isn't that far off. Some fun performances and I liked that everyone used their real accents.

    Ready Player One

I wonder what the ratio of live action to pure CGI scenes in this movie is, it felt like way more happens in the oasis than IRL.

If you liked the book you will like the movie, it is just weaponized geek nostalgia with the climatic battle being a WMD. The rest is just kind of there.

I will not lie I had the biggest smile when

the Serenity dropped off a Gundam to fight mechagodzilla, I'm so happy this is something that exists in a big budget movie
