  1. I'm trying really really hard to play Half Life Alyx with continuous settings. My brain just can't seem to adjust, I get dizzy within 10 minutes or so and either have to quit or swap back to blink. Considering its my first game, maybe I should just stick with blink for now and try continuous later when my body is a little more adjusted. I've heard using a fan helps and most people recommend just stopping once you feel sick. I might buy a game where progress isn't as important that I can pick up and put down more easily.

  2. Someone posted a picture of Space Cadet 3D Pinball on Twitter and it took me back to when I'd play the game for hours with Hoobastank and 36 Crazyfists on repeat.

I don't like most of 36 Crazyfists discography, but Waterhaul, Destroy the Map, and Bloodwork from A Snow Capped Romance are such bangers. Hoobastank... hasn't aged as well for me. I've liked it less and less over the years.

  3. The metroid OST is all about help setting the tone and atmosphere of whats going on in the game. Which the games do a fantastic job of (I haven't started Dread yet)

Like when I think of the best SNES soundtracks I definitely don't think of this as one of them, but it is definitely iconic and helps sets the tone for Super Metroid the games would not be the same without it.

I’m on the Telegram channel for Xbox stock drops. I immediately click through and the furthest I’ve gotten is adding something to my cart, but can never successfully check out. It’s either extremely limited, the bots outninja me within seconds, or both.

I've had the best luck with Walmart and Best Buy. Just stay checked in for both otherwise you might lose out having to login. Also downloading the apps helps a lot too, sometimes you won't get the errors on the app like you would on a browser.

I did get lucky with amazon once as well.

They sell it, it's just never in stock

Microsoft Xbox Series X full in stock history. View this page to find when and where the Microsoft Xbox Series X has been in stock in the recent past.

MS store is on here a lot, they just don't go for an extended period of time so it must be limited quantities every time.

Hmmmmm... I'm already a Best Buy Elite member for spending more than three grand there in a calender year. I might join this, get another PS5, then Scalp it

I saw some people on twitter saying they signed up and still weren't able to purchase one. I think it highly depends on your area.

Unfortunately, locking hot tech behind a paywall seems to be the new fad because A: the company can make more money and B: scalpers don't harvest them as quickly.
God forbid we just introduce waiting list. Sign up, you'll get it in X months, 1 per household. Idk how easy it is to get multiple addresses, but I'd be willing to bet it would turn a lot of scalpers off immediately.

Gamestop though is only $15, this is totally not worth it unless you buy an iPhone from BestBuy and get the Applecare that comes with the membership. Its $200 either way.

Funnily enough, I was gonna make a D1Poll to ask where everyone's interest stands for these three FPS titles.

The general sense I get is that based on the overall reception to their respective betas, Halo Infinite appears far and away in the (Warthog) driver's seat.

I guess "third time's the charm" for 343 Industries :p

Unless you like Classic Halo games, it strays further away from a classic Halo game than any before it.

As for me, I'm probably passing on all of these. I might play Halo merely due to the fact that so many of my friends (who don't regularly play halo) are going to play it. But I've removed almost all of halo from my social media.

    I hate origin

    I won't support activision-blizzard.

I'm conflicted on Samus Returns. On one hand I had a lot of fun playing, on the other there are a lot of little things that bother me.

    - You a ton of upgrades at the beginning of the game, like 2x the normal amount you'd expect. It makes upgrades in general feel not a special.

    - The Ice Beam is borderline useless outside of a few instances, I never played the original, so that might be the design, but its such a different gun throughout the rest of the series I couldn't help but be disappointed.

    - I can't remember a single thing about the OST, I feel like I couldn't hear it for most of the game.

    - I liked that the screw attack wasn't just a OHK for every enemy.

    - The counter system needs some tweaking. Its annoying that if you manually aim or get hit or just take your aim off the stunned enemy it takes the normal amount of shots to kill them. Why? They are still stunned, the fact that I'm manually aiming or countering another enemy shouldn't affect that.

    - The robot boss battle is just, not fun. So much time spent waiting for damage phase to open in the second half of the battle.

    - The final 2 boss battles were fun. I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't played it.

    - Having all of the metroids around is fun and I felt enhanced exploration. I feel like I stumbled upon a lot of more missile and health upgrades due to looking for so many metroids.

    - The cutscenes of countering metroids was cool. I feel like most of the time I was more concerned with keeping my distance or dodging that I never really got to see them much, so it was a treat when I did.

I’m still going to give Fusion a 4/5. I honestly might have enjoyed it more than Zero Mission. What it lacks in exploration it makes up in other areas. It’s got some really refreshing boss battles, nightmare in particular is a really fun battle. It’s atmosphere is still really good. Tense, with a slight hint of fear and sometimes a sense of urgency. Though it is somewhat held back by the GBA’s audio. The story is more than what we usually get from a Metroid game and while it isn’t anything to write home about it’s got some decent twists and is a fun ride.

    Spoiler

The betrayal from the Federation, a secret Metroid breeding program, Adam (consciousness? Clone? Whatever) being placed into a computer.

Though another setback is that it’s quite short if you want it to be. I finished with 3.5 hours and 60% items. Granted I do wish I had gone back and explored some sectors that I ignored, I really was trying to burn through this before Dread shows up tomorrow.

I thought Fusions linearity was death.  Locking you out of zones was a stupid idea. Even Other M of all games is less straight jacketed.  Fusion has good boss fights though.  It’s just in a no man’s land between an action platformer and Metroid proper.  Hopeful that Dread will rectify that.

Hollow Knight is big and bloated in some ways, but having just finished Samus Returns (more on that later), I think it does a lot more to keep its areas and pathways memorable.  I never found it dull personally.

I could see someone thinking Zero Mission is as good as Hollow Knight.  It’s the most streamlined 2D Metroid, in a good way.

I'm not really holding them to a rigid standard. Zero Mission is everything I would want a remake to be, it recreates the game in a very enjoyable way. Updated graphics, controls, audio, etc. Added additional content that is enjoyable. So it scores high on my list for those reasons. Not necessarily just the game is being accounted for. Meanwhile Hollow Knight is, I'm taking the game at face value, it doesn't have the baggage that Zero Mission does.

I've yet to play Samus Returns because I really don't want to pull my 3DS out.

    ;)

Hollow Knight's world just isn't that interesting to explore. It has some cool lore, but I don't think its worth the digging to find it. There is also a lot of back tracking because fast travel is so spread out. I get that exploration is what they were going for, but I'm just not that into it. I know that thats kind of the intention of the genre, but I feel they pushed it far past what I would consider enjoyable.

Metroid Fusion does a great job with its atmosphere and has a creepy, horror vibe to it that I really enjoy. Fusion has the opposite problem of Hollow Knight, there isn't enough exploration and its fairly linear for a metroidvania game.

EDIT: actually, I don't know why I even wrote Fusion, it was Zero Mission that I beat. I'm planning on playing fusion here shortly before I start Dread.

    Halo 4 - 3/5

    Hollow Knight - 4/5

    Dark Souls III - 4/5

    Celeste - 5/5

Resident Evil 5 - 2.5/5 (slightly made better by co-op, but still not a good game)

    Mario Odyssey - 4/5

Super Mario All-Stars - 4.5/5 (an actually good port to a new system cough3Dallstarscough)

Metroid Fusion Zero Mission - 4/5

    Resident Evil Village - 4/5

    Alien Isolation - 4.5/5

    Death's Door - 5/5

Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC - 3/5 I blew through both of these in a day or 2. Wasn't really worth the money imo, I guess if you were really itching for a little more pokemon.

    Super Mario World Rom Hacks:

    Quickie World

    Quickie World 2

Baby Kaizo - These 3 ^^ are good intro Kaizo hacks

Cute Kaizo - Relatively fun, there is one section in the last level that just doesn't match the difficulty of the rest of the game.

Orcus - Really enjoyed this one, a good scaling of difficulty, some good jams, had a ton of fun.

  13. Watched Shroud play some PvP (attacking a town I think) it looks absolutely bonkers and fun. I need to get my level up so I can participate.

The joke was him casually pushing the dodge button every few seconds makes the enemy completely helpless. But he talks as though he's doing some high level master strategy, when it's the most basic defensive maneuver any enemy in the game should be able to deal with to some extent.

In short you can be braindead and still barely ever even get hit by anything in the game unless you're being absolutely swarmed, which uhh, doesn't happen often. You can put on a bunch of heavy armor, but at least for PvE that's a terrible idea since it kills your roll. The reason is simple: The game wasn't designed around PvE. It was designed around hardcore, full-loot PvP, which got absolutely gutted after Amazon found out that players who are expected to make their own fun do so at the expense of others in a hardcore, full-loop PvP game, and that it made many not want to play.

I don't really want to poke the bear here, but most enemies don't attack like the clip you posted. Skeletons have a rushing multiple swing attack, legless skeletons have a launching attack that can be hard to read, pistoleers are down right impossible to dodge or I just don't understand the timing, wolves have two attacks in quick succession. Certain special enemies have throwing axes or spears. Ghosts are extremely fast and can't waste your dodges fast making you wait for the full recovery to dodge again. There is at least some variety to enemies and their attacks. Is it hard? No, not really, but what MMO is hard for a basic mob.

More importantly why would you want every mob to be difficult in an MMO? I don't want to struggle against every basic mob to complete a random quest. That sounds horrible. Leave it for dungeons, raids, end-game content.

  14. I found the combat to be pretty basic when I first tried out the beta. I was maining the fire staff and it was basically all I used and relied on friends to help take pressure off my character.

Then I watched Shroud play and learned there was, at least a little, more depth to the combat. He was stringing together different cooldowns on different weapons and it was smooth. Not that any of the enemies I’ve found so far to be hard, but it does make the game more enjoyable.

I dislike FFXIV because everything is over complicated. From the subscription service to not being able to complete a quest over your current level because?
This seems to scratch my mmo itch, it doesn't continually cost me money, and I’m enjoying it with friends.
