Really? What does the rest of your rig look like? Wondering because I'm running on the ultra preset at 4k with no scaling on Windows 11 with a 3900x/2080TI and I'm getting well over 60fps...not that it matters because the game is locked at 60fps. I just reran the benchmark and, yeah, 73fps average on the GPU.

He has some issue going on, I’m running on a 3080 in Win11 with no problems. First thing that comes to mind is to try without gsync if they see using that.

Also @Nokt I’ve had annoying stuff before with games only running the way I wanted them to in windowed mode (usually older stuff) and for those games I used this program:

    WESTECHSOLUTIONS.NET

Play all your games in windowed borderless

This should let you experience the game normally.

Reinstalling windows actually helped, I still get random dips or stuttering, but its at least playable in full screen. Still runs flawlessly in windowed mode though. I might run DDU again and reinstall the nvidia drivers and see if its just a case of Nvidias first W11 driver not being stable.

On mine I have a 60fps and 120fps lock, what is your hz in Windows?

wtf is going on with the options. I have 60, 72, 144. I run it at 144, but I turned on show FPS in the options and I see jumps into like 180fps. Its whack.

    Metroid Dread - 4/5

    Resident Evil VII - 4/5

Deathloop - 3.5/5 - So close to being a better game, but just falls short. There is enough content in the early game that you have enough leads, main or side quest, to have multiple things to do during each phase of the day. As you progress though those leads get thinner and thinner until you are manually skipping phases and days just to advance those couple leads. It would be much less time consuming if you could just warp to the point of day that you need even if it branches you into a new day.

I wish there were more guns and more customization. It's just on the brink of being so much better, but again just falls short. Granted you can get pretty creative with some builds, like I had a gun that spouted a poison cloud and had a perk that enabled health regen when being in those clouds, but those kinds of builds are few and far between. Guns need a lot more fine tuning, whats the point of a pneumatic weapon when I can just get a LIMP10 with a quiet perk and some range attachments. It doesn't have to charge, shoots faster, larger magazine, ammo is more plentiful around the map. You can play run and gun with 2 of these and still almost never set off any alarms or get the attention of a large groups because how efficient they work. Whats the point of a fourpounder when I can get attach a rapier with a reload mod and get one shot kills regardless of where I hit the enemy and kill almost as quickly if I was getting consistent headshots with the fourpounder. Either bump up the gun count and customization count so you can truly make some unique weapons or fine tune the weapons to fit more niche roles. There is just too few weapons with certain perks that just outshine the rest and they aren't hard to get or find.

Character abilities just remind me of what little I played of Dishonored. I don't really have a ton to add here. Character perks were fine? Soundtrack was not memorable. Story was interesting, but the ending was so/so. I really liked the dynamic between Julianna and Colt, but they really only talk to each other at the beginning of levels. They should have leaned harder into that and had more communication throughout the game. Once you get to a certain point they don't even talk to each other at all during the level because Julianna only talks to you once you advance the main story (I think). Having her chime in on side quests would go a long way.

My buddy has no problems and he's also running Windows 11 and a 3080. But he did have issues with it crashing for a while. He said that disabling spatial audio and playing in stereo fixed it. Forza isn't playing nice with Windows Sonic of Dolby Atmos at the moment on PC.

I've tried every fix I could find short of reinstalling Windows 11, because the only instance I've read of that fixing gaming issues the person reinstalled a multitude of times which I don't have the patience for. I'll just play it in Windowed mode until W11 gets more stable or just not play because I never play Forza for very long.

  4. This game runs like hot garbage on Windows 11 with a 3080. I get a whopping 5 frames per second regardless of graphic setting. The ONLY way this game works is in windowed mode.

This isn't the only game that has issues like this though, Deathloop has issues with one of the areas at night, but its not a constant drop like Forza is. Any other fix I've tried simply doesn't work.

A 5 star ranking system to me isn't great, but its what the tracking website I'm using uses. Village is a better game despite them both have 4.

I dislike the controls. I don't know if it's just being an aging gamer or what, but I have no doubt that I'll finish the game before they become comfortable or natural. My biggest problem is with firing missiles. The combination of L to free aim, R to use missiles, Left stick to aim, and X to fire is too much. It's one of the most common actions in the game and it hasn't felt right to me from the start. I think a standard lock on would have been very helpful in alleviating this, but maybe that's just me being a papered modern gamer. Still, there is a larger issue that it presents, which is that you can't move while you're aiming, which seems like a terrible choice for a game that is so often about movement.

Speaking of movement, I've got a couple gripes there as well. These are related towards later gameplay, so I guess mild gameplay spoilers. I actually felt like the game moved better early on than it does later when the game design seems to slow you down and your movement options get more complicated. It's most often seen in the EMMI zones. Early in the game, it's mostly about out running your hunters, which I found rather fun. Later the game pushes you to rely on your stealth. So before I was running and jumping and platforming my way through, now I feel like I'm sitting still for twice as long as I'm moving.

As for complicated movement, the grapple hook falls into the same problems as the missiles. It's too many buttons, and free aiming it a lot to ask while in motion. I kind of understand it as a gameplay choice not to have lock on for enemies, but the grapple hook really should be easier. It's hardly ever used though, so it's a nitpick, but it still bothered me when it came up.

Far more frequent is my issue with the double jump. It's been a while since I played a Metroid game, so this might just be a legacy decision, but only allowing a double jump when you're pushing far enough to one side sucks. I've screwed up so many times because I wasn't going quite far enough to be in a ball jump. I don't understand this decision at all. It's annoying and serves no useful purpose as far as I can tell.

Having to hold the thumbstick to enable speed boost is annoying as well. The grapple outside of the breakable blocks is extremely useless and most of the time doesn’t even need to be used.

What I’ve seen from speed runners they just spam the regular shot incredibly fast or stop and use missiles. I personally used the charged missile (I forgot what it’s called). You can hold the charge and still move around. Stop for a split second, lock on, and unleash. Then rinse and repeat.

Does anyone here know what the "unpatched" first versions of the Switch consoles are? I was thinking about trading mine in and upgrading to this OLED model. But someone mentioned that early version Switch's are unpatched, and I checked mine through someonline program and it is. But I don't know what that really means, and I have no clue if its worth getting rid of for an OLED model.

    Anyone have any opinions? Thanks

    Its basically "Jailbreaking" your switch.

You can run software not typically available on the switch such as Retroarch (emulators)

You can run mods, install new themes, you can run games from different regions and in some cases even english translations for JP games.

You can outright be a pirate if you want to be.

That's where I'm at as well.

I really do get a sense of confidence from 343 Industries that they're where they want to be with the game.

Still shipping without Forge and Campaign Multiplayer. Forge is suppose to show up 6-9 months after release. Arguably 2 of the biggest features of the Halo franchise.

They better be confident in releasing an early access game thats been in development for 7 years.

  9. I've been reading "Three Body Problem". It had a really interesting premise and the first half of the book really hooked me in, but I feel like its losing its grip ever so slowly. The twist just wasn't really where I was expecting it to go, though I still have 1/4 of the book to finish. I hope it gets back to some of the things that I feel were just left behind with no real explanation.

If a Facebook account is not needed, I will consider buying one

Yeah I've been on the verge of deleting mine for the past little while. I hardly use it, but the few times I log on I just find out how stupid my family, neighbors, and friends are about social issues.

The moment they give the option to login without facebook I will swap and probably delete it.

I rewatched the show recently, so it’s pretty fresh in my mind. Not that there ins’t a lot of serendipity, but this one seems especially random. Spike just happens to be where this guy is killing people? And then decides to go back after him after getting called out, since I guess Pierrot figured out who he was? And his bulletproof shield is some Dune thing and a dagger and an animatronic animal get through it?

It feels like an episode from a much worse season of the show.

The rumor from the show is that anyone that sees his face is hunted down relentlessly until they're found dead. I think its more the fact that Spike is just rising to fight his foe rather than try and hide. Tongpu is essentially just a giant child with an urge for killing because of the experiments ran on him. He specifically isn't all that interesting, its the tone of the episode. Spike legitimately thinks he might die, he pauses for a second and then jokes to Faye and Ed. Typically Spike doesn't show that kind of fear, its a side you don't see a whole lot of. Spike is outclassed by his enemy and the episode is almost devoid of music.

Though the Real Folk Blues is only a few episodes later. Which it pales in comparison to.

Metroid Dreadn - ?/5 Probably a 4. Fun game, had way more production value than I thought it would. Good story, decent environments, tight controls, maybe not as much back tracking as I would have wanted. EMMI areas pissed me off, seems like they really want to push the stealth option, but honestly its much easier just to be fast. Bosses were fun. Soundtrack left me wanting something with more impression.

IMDB does list a Dune tv show under Villanueva’s upcoming projects. Of course anything on that site comes with a grain of salt because it’s user generated. But still. There’s a TON of lore to explore from those novels and if Foundation is doing well for Apple maybe HBO will want it’s own space show(I’m not starting up the Dune genre debate again haha).

So a number 1 opening, WB’s best opening alongside HBO, Villanueva’s best opening, and I think I read it’s doing well overseas? Gotta be safe to assume Part 2 gets the go ahead at this point right?
